REGULAR ………………………………………$4,264.40 PARISH SHARE………………………………..$1,860.00

From the Pastor’s Desk, Dear brothers in Christ, Yes, I did not include sisters this weekend in the greeting because I specifically want to address the men of the parish. The reason for this is that I often see far too many women coming to Mass and church events on their own, sometimes with children to manage too. God bless the men who come on their own, and double blessings on the men who bring their children too. Sometimes men can be softer, but often they have hard heads that keep them from being drawn to the spiritual. The witness of Jesus and the disciples in the boat this weekend is a good example for all of us, but especially for men, on this Father’s Day weekend. Jesus is in the boat with his disciples and a violent storm arises. While the chaos of the storm enwraps all the other disciples into worry and fear, Jesus remains calm. In fact, he’s asleep through it all. When the disciples finally wake him up, he’s still calm. He doesn’t get upset or fall into the worry of the other disciples. He simply says, “Quiet, be still” and the wind stops and the storm passes. Where does Jesus get this calming attitude, and powerful ability to make calm around him? I argue that he gets this from being both fully human and fully divine. He is true God from true God as we say in the Creed, but also “became man.” My advice for the men of the parish this weekend is to follow the example of Jesus. While we cannot be divine in the same way as Jesus, we can listen to how he engages the spiritual in prayer and worship of a Father who loves Him in his life. All men can do this too. And when it comes to being human and being man, Jesus is also an example to follow. He has a character that is calming and peaceful in the midst of chaos and danger. When things are violent around him, he does not engage the violence or get angry. He remains peaceful and controlled in his disposition. Our world needs more real men like Jesus, and disciples who are willing to be in the boat with him. Our Church needs more real men like Jesus and his disciples. And I might add, families need real men too, not to be the muscle in the home as much as to be a calming presence in the midst of chaos and danger. Are you willing to do this? For your family? For your community? If so, I’ll see you next weekend, and at some of the upcoming events in our parish as we learn together to be better men of faith.

Dear sisters in Christ, Thank you and God bless you for your continued witness of faith to your families and the community. If there are men in your life that could not be with us at Mass this weekend, please share with them this bulletin. In Christ’s love, Father Kevin

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church - “Jesus asks for childlike abandonment to the providence of our heavenly Father who takes care of his children’s smallest needs. ‘Therefore do not be anxious, saying “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?... Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first his kingdom and his right-eousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.”” (CCC 305)

ADORATION CHAPEL Due to water run-off from the hard rains this weekend, the storage room behind the chapel, had water damage. This made the chapel carpeting wet.
