Pastor Mary Anne’s Message:
“Won’t you be my neighbor?” Do you remember that line from Fred Roger’s long running T.V. show? Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood was a make-believe place where the neighbors got along, where they all knew each other including their habits! Over the years we have lost some of the cohesiveness that makes up a neighborhood. Some sociologists actually trace this back to the advent of decks in suburbia, where people would gather in the backyard secluded by trees and fences, instead of the front porch where one could see and interact with people passing by.
Some of our interviews that the R3 Team has been having with Community Leaders have cited the decline of relationships in communities and neighborhoods. We want to help, as a good neighbor, to build this community and neighborhood. In an effort to do this, we are reworking our Community Picnic in August to a Community Block Party. As Concordia Lutheran Church, we are part of the community of Chest-nut Hills and the surrounding area. Whether you live within a mile or so of the church or not, you are a member of this community.
We want you to be present for this event. Please come and eat and participate and if you can, help with the activities surrounding this special day.
We also want you to invite your family and friends. There will be activities for chil-dren and adults, community services, and plenty of food and fellowship. We hope that new relationships will form and that our community and neighborhood will be strengthened.
We are investing time, talent and yes even some treasure in this venture. Why?
Because it is a beautiful time and place to be a part of this neighborhood and we
want others to share together the many connections we all have together.
In Christ,
Pastor Mary Anne

Below is the introduction to that plan. Emergency Action Plan If your family did not get a copy of the plan, please see Pastor or a member of the Emergency Response Team. This Emergency Action Plan (EAP) consists of four categories of incidents: 1. Fire 2. Medical 3. Active Shooter 4. Severe Weather A Medical Emergency Response Team has also been implemented, to assist in immedi-ate medical care during personal medical emergencies or other injuries resulting from an incident at the church.
