Pastor’s Corner At the Last Supper Jesus comforts his disciples when He tells them that He will leave them soon, but that He will send the power of the Holy Spirit to strengthen them to be His witnesses in the world. His leaving was first through His death, but His second leaving was the return to the Father in the Ascension. Jesus reminds us that His return to the Father is something good because then He can ask the Father and They will send the Holy Spirit to the disciples. One of the main purposes of the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus to His disciples was to renew their faith which had been shaken by His crucifixion. Before He sends the Holy Spirit He wishes to personally reassure them, in His human form, though it is now a glorified humanity. He reminds them that it was necessary that He suffer and die for the forgiveness of sins. Once they have regained their faith, He instructs them further in their future mission to the world. Jesus takes these ordinary, not-very-educated men and women and commissions them to be His witnesses to the whole world. This same saving work of the Church continues today in our witness to the world. Jesus needs every one of us to witness to His truth and to proclaim repentance for our sins through Jesus. Jesus is the One and Only Savior of the world. “No one comes to the Father except through me” (Jn 14:6). It is our vocation to live a life of faith in Jesus’ redemptive work for us and to share that faith with our neighbors, many of whom have been deceived by Satan into believing that all faiths are equal and that there are many different paths to God. But we know for certain that only Jesus is “…the way and the truth, and the life” (Jn 14:6). Let us proclaim with our lives our total faith in Jesus Christ!

As he blessed them he parted from them

and was taken up to heaven. -Lk 24: 51

Religious Ed. Helen Herman 303-772-6322 x 226 E-mail: [email protected]

Pray about how you can use your gifts of Time & Tal-ent; then come and be a part of this awesome Totus Tuus ministry! It’ll change your life!

KIDS in Grades 1-6 – Come and meet Jesus at Totus Tuus Summer Camp – don’t be shy, you’ll learn about your faith, and make good friends. You may bring a friend along too!

CONFIRMATION & FIRST COMMUNION for 3RD Grade: Archbishop Aquila has instituted “Restored Order for Sacraments” – that is, Confirmation at an earlier age, to complete the Sacraments of Initiation. Our 3rd graders will now receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion this year if they have completed 1 year of Basics RE.

REGISTRATION FOR FALL CLASSES – Yellow Registration Forms are located in the Narthex. It is very important to begin learning about your faith before your Sacramental year; and to continue your formation well beyond Eucharist or Confirmation!!

A NEW DONATION of FIRST COMMUNION/CONFIRMATION DRESSES – A gorgeous long white dress with cap sleeves, size 14 was given to us. We also received a donation of a brand new First Communion/Confirmation dress. It is a beautiful white dress with sheer puffy sleeves, size 8. If your daughter, granddaughter, or anyone you know would like either of these dresses, you are most welcome to have it. (It doesn’t have to be used for First Communion or Confirmation.) Please contact Helen.

TOTUS TUUS – REGISTRATION

SUNDAY, JUNE 2, AFTER ALL MASSES – IN 1ST GRADE CLASSROOM. For Grades 1-6 in the Fall

July 15-19 – 9 am-2:30 pm Summer fun, learning, and getting closer to God is coming to St. Francis of Assisi Parish! You’ll want to join the fun! Registration forms are in the Narthex, or you may register on our web-site. We’ll need adult and teen Volunteers to help too.

Religious Ed. Continued

MY CHILD TAKES ART, KARATE, DANCE, SCOUTS, AND VIOLIN LESSONS. WE DON’T HAVE TIME TO KEEP COMING TO RE, WE ARE WAY TOO BUSY! WHY DO WE HAVE TO KEEP COMING SINCE SHE HAS ALREADY RECEIVED FIRST COMMUNION & CONFIRMATION? Yes, we know that your family can be busy; however, we truly hope your child will continue their religious education long after receiving the sacraments. Your/their faith is a life-long learning process! Set some faith priorities!

STEWARDSHIP: GOD BLESSES YOUR STEWARD-SHIP GIFTS! Thank you for your continued generosity! Thank you to ?? for the sweet words of “Praise to God” on your envelope!

PONDERINGS – He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool forever.

CATHOLIC RADIO – 1060 am – KRCN – “Change your station, change your life. “Take 2 With Jerry & Debbie” – The topic was, ‘Opioids – Are they Affecting your Family?” There was so much discussion that they had a Part II on Thursday. Very thought provoking!

TILLIE & MAIZEY – Tillie and Maizey were playing with their Barbie’s. Maizey’s Barbie fell into a lake and couldn’t swim. By the time help got to her she looked really dead. Every minute was critical; but the Paramedics got there and did CPR and breathed life back into her. Thanks guys! Now they can have a cook-out like they had planned.

RE CHALLENGE – The Holy Spirit breathed new life in us at Confirmation. How are you living that life?

CHURCH ATTIRE REMINDER: Do you remember that you are a temple of the Holy Spirit? You’ll never regret dressing appropriately with modesty & humility. Be brave, be a leader – please always dress reverently, especially when you come to spend time with our Lord, Jesus Christ! Thank you!

IS GOD CALLING YOU TO STEP OUT IN FAITH? WE NEED MEN & WOMEN TO TAKE COMMUNION TO THE HOMEBOUND – We are once again in need of people willing to take Holy Communion to those who are homebound. If this is in your heart, please call Helen. Training is provided.

We will be staying at St. John the Baptist in Longmont for the week.

Prayer and Action: An Overview Prayer and Action sessions last five days. Students arrive Sunday evening and stay until Friday morning. Throughout the week the students will paint, clean, do yard work, and perform other meaningful tasks for the poor, disabled, and elderly. The students spend the week in an atmosphere that is free of distractions which fosters their faith, inspires their charity, and leads them closer to Christ. The experience will also allow them to get to know other high school students from other parts of the Archdiocese who share their Catholic faith.

The Prayer and Action experience will be facilitated by the mission team which consists of seminarians and other dynamic young adults. This team and the parish adult leaders will be with the students at the worksites, working side-by-side.

What else can I use my gift cards for at Kohl’s besides Clothes? Kohl’s carries many items besides clothes: Bed and bath items, kitchen and dining, small appliances, luggage, patio furniture, and chocolates in the register area to name a few. If you need to shop for any of these items for yourself or for others, buy your Kohl’s gift cards here at St. Francis first and then shop!

Congratulations to all of our St. Francis of Assisi parishioners who received the Sacrament of First Communion and Confirmation this weekend! May the Lord continue to bless you and guide you throughout your life through the Power of His Holy Spirit and His Holy Body and Blood!

The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you. John 14:26

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. Luke 22:19-20
