2016-2017 Chisholm Trail Roundup Queen & Little Miss Courts
Your newly crowned CTR Court made their first appearance at this year’s 44th Annual CTR Parade on June 11, 2016. Pictured is CTR Queen, Miss Harley West; Princess, Miss Sara Burrier; CTR Little Miss, Riley Spiller; Princess, Juliana Navarro; and Duchess, Lola Morua. These young ladies will proudly represent Lockhart at area pa-rades in Luling, Shiner, Lampasas, Moulton, La Grange, Gonzales, Cuero, Yorktown, Pleasanton, Flatonia, Poteet and Yoakum throughout their reign. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chisholm Trail Roundup Rodeo Raises Funds to Aid in Caldwell
County Flood Relief Efforts
This year’s CTR rodeo was determined to raise money to aid our follow Caldwell county citizens in their recovery efforts from the 2015 Memorial Day and Halloween flooding events. There were two rodeo events in which proceeds were donated. The first event was Thursday night’s team roping competition. Cowboys and cowgirls from all around the area paid their entry fees to compete and be part of the effort. Second, and new this year, was a stick horse parade. Members of the community were able to purchase one-of-a-kind, hand-made stick horses for their children for a do-nation of $15 each. This was a well received event by the kids in our community. Each child was able to “ride” their stick horse in Saturday’s open-ing ceremony rodeo parade. Funds raised from entry fees and stick horse donations totaled $3,750, with an anonymous donor from the San Marcos area matching those funds, bringing the grand total to $7,500. All of the dollars donated are specifically earmarked for Caldwell county flood relief. We still have a long way to go, as recovery from these catastrophic events will take several years along with several millions of dollars. For infor-mation on how to donate or volunteer, please go to www.BR3T.org. **A special thank you to Linda Haden, who donated all the stick horse materials, supplies and hours upon hours of her time sewing and constructing all 130+ stick horses.

RENEWALSThank you to the following businesses
and/or individuals that have shown theirsupport for the Chamber and Lockhart
by renewing their membershipA Message From Your Chamber Chairman of the Board, Keith Hester: Dear Members, The Lockhart Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors wholeheartedly thanks our sponsors for another successful Chisholm Trail Roundup 2016. You will find a complete list-ing of all the businesses that sponsored Lockhart’s largest tourism event of the year at www.chisholmtrailroundup.com. Please go to our website to review the listings, and shop these businesses the next time you are in need of goods or services. We also thank the hundreds of volunteers who willingly gave their time and effort helping with the event, especially those who braved the heat during the day. Our biggest events for the year are now behind us, and all signs point toward solid growth this year and a bright future on the horizon ,not just for your chamber, but the community as a whole. There is a certain irony to the fact that a new road is being built through Lockhart that will affect change from one end to the other; a positive change that will make our community better than before. It is exciting to witness the physical transformation of something that will have such a positive impact on our town while still preserving the things that define Lockhart. Even with the progress happen-ing around us, all the important things that make Lockhart and Caldwell county so special, like our history, traditions, culture and sense of community are just as important to maintain as are the things that are important to change. Lockhart is becoming a more progressive community, and as this community evolves, the Chamber’s mission is steadfast in supporting our members and our community. As we con-tinue to host events and support our members, we are also looking at other progressive ways to impact this community in a positive manner. To hear details about how we have begun to evolve, hear it first at the Chamber luncheon on Thursday, July 14th. I have a couple pleasant surprises in store for those who attend. Keith Hester Chairman Board of Directors Lockhart Chamber of Commerce

The Lockhart Gaslight-Baker Theatre's next production -- Suite Surrender -- opens July 8th. Don't miss this great comedy farce of mistaken identity. It's 1942, and two of Hollywood's biggest divas have descended upon the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel -- assistants, luggage, and legendary feud with one another in tow. Everything seems to be in order for their wartime performance...that is, until they are somehow assigned to the same suite. Mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendres, and a lap dog named Mr. Boodles round out this hilarious riot of a love note to the classic farces of the 30s and 40s.
Please help us welcome one of our newest members to our community and chamber, Advance Auto Parts. The Lockhart Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Staff and Ambassadors celebrated during their grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 2nd. Advance Auto Parts is OPEN for business! They are located at 700 S. Colorado and can be reached at (512) 213-2895.
