Lee’s Summit Journal was Named Newspaper of the Year

The Lee’s Summit Journal was named Newspaper of the Year Saturday at the annual Heart of America awards, an awards ceremony for regional media outlets hosted by the Kansas City Press Club, the local chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

The Newspaper of the Year designation was bestowed upon the Journal as the publication that earned the most

points during the individual award presentations, regardless of circulation or size.

The Journal took home 29 individual awards, including seven first place awards.

Journal Publisher John Beaudoin said he was exuberant for his newspaper team following the announcement.

“This really is a culmination of more than a year of reorganization, a complete newspaper redesign and a re-focus on reporting the news in Lee’s Summit,” he said. “I could not be more proud of my team for capturing this honor. And more importantly, what we will continue to strive for in the coming months as Newspaper of the Year.”

Email ArchivingEmail archiving is becoming more important as businesses continue to use email as its major form of correspondence.

Email’s popularity is impacting businesses in many ways. The large volume of emails sent daily make it difficult for storage and accessibility. These same end users struggle with email quotas and find themselves spending hours managing mailbox capacity. In addition, new laws and regulations require access to historical emails.

So what does email archiving do for you? It manages old email in its archive which reduces storage costs on the email server. It is easily accessible as regular email while allowing you to keep years of emails easily at your fingertips. Legal

and compliance officers can access historical emails in the archive quickly for litigation and compliance purposes.

When looking at email archiving, there are two types of solutions. In-house and hosted solutions.

In-house: Installed on a dedicated server in the same data center as the email server. The email archiving server will access the email server locally for data capture. The archived email can be searched as many times as needed and are customizable and available from multiple vendors to support.

Hosted: This option is for customers who don’t wish to install their own solutions. For a monthly fee, a number of mailboxes can be archived off-site with no on-site setup required.

You can access archived emails via a web-based search application provided by the hosted service provider.

Make sure you consult an IT professional before choosing a solution that works for you.
