You use it like a traditional “ciga- rette”, inhaling and exhaling, but the “smoke” is just water vapor. It is completely smoke, tobacco and carcinogen free! It’s just nicotine so smokers can obtain the nicotine they desire with the same hand gestures and oral satisfaction while eliminating all of the harmful toxins in a traditional cigarette. Since it’s tobacco and smoke free, it can be used in previously banned public places with no second hand smoke, pollution or waste. Plus, there is no risk of fire because it does not “light”. Now bowlers can enjoy “smoking” inside the center once again! KLAMATH FALLS,OR— Hugh Miller had his sights set on the championship from the opening round of competition in the PBA Senior Epicenter Classic, “In qualifying I wanted to finish strong so I stepped up my focus to finish in the top eight.” The 51-year-old southpaw did so in a big way by rolling 12 consecutive strikes in last game of qualifying to take the second seed position and securing a double bye into the round of 16. Miller’s focus remained strong going 6-1 in match play en route to a championship showdown with 1999 PBA Senior Player of the Year Dale Eagle. “I knew (Dale) Eagle was going to be tough, and I was going to have to shoot a big game, so I knew I had to strike a lot.” “My last win was in 2002, and that was a regular tour event. I haven’t even won a re- gional since 2004.” Ending an extensive title drought Miller added “Every few years things just come together for me.” When asked how comfort- able he was on the lanes at the Epicenter Family Entertain- ment Complex, Miller replied, “In Jackson I finished second, Miller Fires 300 in Championship Match for First Senior Tour Title but I left a couple opens in the championship match, so I was looking to redeem myself and I stayed focused. I got myself into a good level of concentra- tion in the championship match. I got a lucky break the first ball in the 10th frame, I gave the ball away a little, but the left lane was hooking more so it came back to strike.” Miller finished the tenth with two more strikes, winning his first career PBA Senior Tour title in style, bowling a perfect game in the championship match. When asked what was next on his agenda, the Senior Tour’s newest champion replied, “My goal now is to win again as soon as possible.” Championship match re- sults: Hugh Miller, Seattle, defeated Dale Eagle, Tavares, Fla., 300 to 268. Martinez Wins ABTA Title at Friendly Hills (L–R) Jo Jo Barcelona and Le Star Walker who split a $1,985 Match game (237), Marvyn Galsim (runner up) Champion Anthony Martinez $2,300, Friendly Hills GM Joe McNab, and David Caballero 3rd.

WHITTIER—Anthony Martinez stepped up big time and won his third ABTA Event at Friendly Hills. He won a roll off for the top seed with David Quon as they tied for High in the semifinals and won from the top seeded position, finally downing Marvyn Galsim in the title game. He took home a sweet $2,300 for the win.

Anthony wasn’t the only bowler hitting the cash line at Friendly Hills. Due to the nice turnout of 190 bowlers we had 53 cashers and saw Le Star Walker and Jo Jo share the Match game of $1,985. Erik Volk hit the Match Series for $328 as the number was 606, his scratch Score. They all now has some extra Vegas Spending Cash!

Martinez topped a nice turnout of 190 entrants which produced cut scores of +94 (men) and +51, (Ladies) and added Super Seniors were Bob-bie Mc Collum, Art Lindsay and Ely Cruz, making a total of 53 semifinalists.

David Quon, and Anthony Martinez held the hot hand in the semis. They tied and led the field with a big +135 to be able to sit out and bowl in the title game, Anthony won the roll-off, so he would bowl for the title and David enters in round two. It took a big +100 to make the top 16 and women made it on their own to the

single Elim Finals. The Bowlers took to the

lanes. In the first round single elims, losing their matches were Janine Ditch, Jimmy Wong, Ryan Okamoto, John Cortes, Matt Garcia, Jeremy Paulsen and Marife Catalasan. They got checks of $100 in 10-16th places.

In round two being elimi-nated were” Ace” Cordero, Kimberly Stephens, Michael Gill and Ron Chandler. They cashed in 6-9th places and $110.00 each.

Round three saw Marv Gal-sim down Chris Kelly 205-201.David Caballero got to David Quon 251-214, David and Chris were 4th and 5th and checks of $120 with Marvyn and David to meet for the right to bowl Martinez for the title. This game was not for Cabal-erro as he had two washouts and 2 splits, with Marvyn winning easily 220-151 with David finishing third and $200 with a great showing.

The title game was next. Anthony led off with a spare / strike and Marvyn was clean through five frames but missed the 6 pin. Anthony, after an open and spare tossed a turkey to lead. He opened in frames 8-9 and Marvyn was right there but again whiffed the 6 pin and trailed by 5 pins and finished with strike spare and 170/201. Martinez only needing a mark

and count to win, doubled and won 189/214. The title was his, and a nice $2,300 for his effort. Congrats to a nice young man who is our latest champion and deservedly so. Great Bowling Anthony!

Fine bowling again by one of our young gentlemen Mar-vyn Galsim who was on his game and he could have been the winner! He is one of the “Good Guys! Great bowling in third was the affable David Caballero who also could have been our winner.

ABTA Notes: Tourney Hi Qualifiers were the” Hot Tama-le” Michael Gill at +222 .Hot!! Kimberly Stephens led the gals +154. They will get paid entries to our next regular event.

The 3-6-9 was worth a nice $1,300. Jo Jo Barcelona out did the field and went for the Big Bucks but he missed on shot #4. So we will go for $1,500 this week in LAS VEGAS in the 3-6-9.

The Match Series was Matched as Mr. Gill drew a 535 and was worth a $354 to one of our fine members Erik Volk. He is very deserving! We will estimate the Match Series to be $1,000 in Las Vegas and for only a $2.00 entry fee.

The Match Game worth $1,985 WAS Matched as Mar-tinez drew a 237 game which was shared by Le Star Walker and Jo Jo Barcelona. We will go

for the est max in Las Vegas of $3,500, with the balance going to a Reserve Pot.

The Optional Doubles were won by Chris Kelly and Deb Sanders and their fine 1527 got them $200. We paid 19 places and $1,960 in the doubles.

It is History as Anthony Martinez entered the archives as our latest champion!

Anthony Martinez hails from Covina and used a Storm drilled by Leonard Ruiz. He is single and dedicated to his Mom, Frances, Dad Mike, and sisters Joann and Renea. Thanks to ABTA Buddy “Iron Mike” Evans who cheered him on, Friendly Hills, Leonard Ruiz and the ABTA Staff.

Inland Empire NABI Champion Tony Cangialosi

We want to thank AMF Arrowhead Lanes for a great tourna-ment. It was not a “give me” for Tony Cangialosi to win the Ar-rowhead tournament. In fact, he bowled against his best friend, Tim Scott in the finals. Tim bowled a 217 in the final match & Tony had to strike in the final frame to tie his score. TONY DID! They had to bowl one more game to decide the championship. Tim, then bowled a 208 to Tony’s 221 for Tony to win. What an exciting match!

Tony won with his Hammer, Black Widow Bite, drilled by, who else, himself. Tony drills balls from his garage. Anyone needing a champion ball drilled, Tony’s the guy. He has been bowling for 47 years & is now a 2 time NABI champion. Tony has been a NABI member for about 2 years & loves to bowl. Besides bowl-ing he plays chess & goes fishing for relaxation. We are looking forward to the upcoming Nationals at the Orleans July 11 thru July 18 and so is Tony. Besides bowling at the Nationals, he enjoys karaoke, and don’t be surprised if you find him competing for a prize in the karaoke contest at the Orleans. Director, Guy Clear, loves this contest also. Tony wants to thank his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ for this win & dedicates it to his wife, Georgia, a very patient lady when it comes to his bowling. He also thanks Dave & Quin for the club & invites everyone to come out to bowl. Tony won $600, a champion shirt & an entry into the 2009 Tournament of Champions.

Our step ladder started out with Kathleen Doolen bowling Michael Gray. Kathleen bowled a 201 to Michael’s 219. Michael then bowled Mike Vredevoogd. Michael bowled a 189 to Mike’s 212. Mike, then went on to bowl Tim Scott. Mike bowled a 190 to Tim’s 194. Tim then met his best friend, Tony Cangialosi. Tim & Tony tied with a 217 & then bowled one more game. Tim bowled a 218 to Tony’s 221 for Tony to win.

Our $50 sidepot winners were: Dave Fahnestock, Kathleen Doolen (2), Mike Vredevoogd, Tim Scott, John Boyer, Tony Cangialosi, Guy Clear & Barbara Boyd.

Our next tournament is at Trevi Zone on Fri., July 4, ending on Sat., July 5th.

We will have a bye for the next 2 weeks, since we will be at the 2008 Nationals in Las Vegas. Our next tournament after the Nationals will be at Riverside Lanes in Riverside on July 26. Have a wonderful, safe, July 4. We will see ya at the Nationals.

Inland Empire NABI Championship (L-R) Mike Vredevoogd - 3rd place, Tim Scott - 2nd place, Tony Cangialosi - Champion, Guy Clear - Director, Michael Gray - 4h place & Alice Marquez - Michael’s girlfriend.

Remember When.....Guy Clear Bowls Sanctioned 309 Game! by Frank Weiler

MURRIETA—It was thirty-one years ago that lefty high roller Guy Clear bowled the highest sanctioned game in bowl-ing history. It was a cool spring day in 1977 when Guy walked into All Star Lanes in Eagle Rock, California and rolled twelve consecutive strikes in his second league game of the night. The unique thing about this perfecto is that his twelfth shot knocked down 19 pins.

Yes, 19 pins! After eleven consecutive strikes, nineteen pins felled by the twelfth shot adds up to a 309 scratch game.

You may ask how Guy knocked down 19 pins with one shot? Well, his twelfth shot came in light hitting the 1-2 pocket (Guy is a portsider) on the backside of the headpin, sending it flying over the right channel into the pins on the adjoining lane to the right (lane 10). In addition to knocking down ten pins on lane number nine, the flying headpin knocked down nine more pins on lane number ten. The lone pin standing on lane ten was the seven pin.

If you count the 300 pins scored for the twelve strikes on lane nine and the additional nine pins toppled on lane ten, with the twelfth shot, you get a score of 309.

The American Bowling Congress awarded Guy a 300 ring, but never recognized his accomplishment for a 309 game. Why not? Do we have another Glenn Allison injustice? Was it a matter of officials not being able to think outside the box? No, the ABC never had a chance to make a ruling on the matter. No one at league level ever thought to report the event to the local bowling association or ABC headquarters for a ruling. The team score sheet recorded a 300 game not 309. Guy’s team captain did not report the 309 score to the league secretary and no league meeting was convened to discuss the matter. Remember, those were the days before the 900 series.

If the 309 score was reported properly, do you think the ABC should have and would have recognized it? Let me know your opinion at [email protected]. Please include 309 in the title of your response. Guy Clear is a senior bowler these days and still continues to compete.

Over the years, he has done some amazing things on the lanes. He has one PBA regional title to his name and in his later years has won nine NABI titles.

He has bowled eight sanctioned/certified perfect games, several rolled in the days of rubber balls and oil mops! His high sanctioned/certified series is 826.

In 1994 Guy finished his Sunday night league at Cal Oaks Bowl with a 300. On the same pair of lanes the next night he opened league play with a 300. Same house, same pair of lanes, back to back perfectos?

It was 2005 at Cal Oaks when Clear rolled a non-certified 300-300-279=879 series. He started with 31 consecutive strikes, left a solid 9 pin, and finished with a hambone after the spare. How about 35 of 36 strikes!

Guy has been bowling for over forty-eight years now and is the son of 1940s star bowlers Lowell and Helen Clear. Both mom and dad were 200 average keglers in the 1940s in the Lancaster, Palmdale and Porterville areas, when such averages were rare. Guy learned the sport from his parents while working as a pinboy in several bowling centers managed by his dad.

Some of Guy’s coaches over the years included Bobbie North, Donna Adamek, Vince Wood, E.G. Mock, and Del Ballard. Clear is grateful to them and his parents for making him the best bowler he could be.

Thanks Bowling News for supporting Citrus Belt bowlers.

Evans to Lead BWAARomeo and Wyckoff Aboard

Dick Evans of Daytona, Florida was elected as President of the Bowling Writers Association of America at their annual meeting in Orlando, FL on June 24, 2008. A prolific writer, Evans has been a sports writer for the Miami Herald since 1957, a bowling writer for Daytona Beach News Journal since 1995 and is an ABC and PBA Hall of Fame member

Jackie Wyckoff of Campbell, CA moved into the Vice Presi-dents slot and Joan Romeo of Van Nuys came aboard as a Director. Also elected were Jim Goodwin, Rockwall, TX, Bill Vint, East Troy, WI and Kathy Watson of Richmond, CA.

A moving memorial by well known bowling historian Chuck Pezzano included California bowling media giants Joe Lyou and Frank Keitz, both of whom died this year.

Retiring President Hazel McLeary of Victoria BC was honored with a Life Membership in the organization. McLeary had been instrumental in facilitating the daunting task of merging BWAA and the National Women Bowling Writers Association and served as the new organization’s first president.

BWAA Executive Director Steve James who took over after the untimely death of previous Executive Director Dan Glus, announced his retirement. James said he was pleased with a 50 member increase this year in pursuit of the BWAA goal of 425. He agreed to pinch hit for Dan and somehow it stretched into ten years.

Bowling is well represented by BWAA members as each introduced themselves and the publication they represented from across the U.S.

Targets reached for BWAA this past year are writing awards for amateurs; a new logo and pin; meeting and convention fees paid by credit cards, a possible hosting of a meeting at the site of the USBC convention and trying to connect with college journalism students to make bowling enthusiasts out of them.

New this year, the BWAA booth at Bowl Expo was set up to interview proprietors, coaches and exhibitors with writers creating press releases they could use in their home areas. Individuals who attended Bowl Expo could take advantage of the 45 educational and informational seminars plus over 800 exhibits.

The $1000 Chuck Pezzano Youth Scholarship went to Thomas Madrecki of Illinois and Elizabeth Soutter of California. Both will receive a one-year membership in BWAA and if requirements are met, can re-apply for the scholarship for each of the next three years they remain in college.

“There is no way BPAA could buy the kind of coverage BWAA and related writing organizations give us” said BPAA Executive Director John Berglund as he addressed the membership, “it may continue to be a challenge to keep bowling the #1 participation sport and bowling writers are invaluable.” He announced the Bowl Expo convention will be in Las Vegas for 2009 and 2010 and 2011 in Orlando, FL again. He spoke excitedly about the new Bowling Campus and Hall of Fame in Arlington, TX and said, “although there may be growing pains for a couple of years, I feel with mov-ing of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and combining our forces into one, bowling cannot help but grow.”

Berglund designated Wednesday as Hall of Fame day and each member present who was in a national hall of fame was presented with an impressive medal to wear. Tom Clark PBA Vice President and COO for the PBA announced that he was taking Chris and Lynda Barnes with him to the Associated Press Convention in Min-neapolis for sports writers from all over and hosting a breakfast. The goal is to present a power point presentation about the excit-ing things happening in bowling and introduce them to Bowling’s most prolific couple for 2008. He said he will definitely not beg for coverage but let them know they are missing out on all of the great things going on in bowling now and that we are a tremendous audience. He said we need to introduce writers to what bowlers have to do to excel and let the media know what’s happening in bowling. Clark said, “We will have front page coverage in USA Today and Sports Illustrated.”

He announced that California’s Missy Bellinder will assist media coverage of the Pro Tour.

BWAA Webmaster Kathy Watson announced additions and changes to the website – an added memorial page, bowling pub-lications on line, a Publicity Guide, Collegiate Bowler of the Year and a page for bowlers to report their good news. Log on! www.bowlingwriters.com

Elaine Hagin brought us up to date on the International Museum and Hall of Fame move to Arlington, TX. The current “Hall” in St. Louis will be sold to the Ball Park Village organization. St. Louis made an attractive offer to keep the hall there but the desire to consolidate BPAA/USBC and the hall in one area was compel-ling. A new state of the art Hall of Fame will be designed. The St. Louis hall will be closed at the end of December.

Writers always look forward to the Columbia dinner. Columbia has hosted this event for the bowling writers for some time and it is an opportunity to meet, thank the appropriate people and honor others. Lyle Zikes and Joan Romeo were honored June 24 at the Columbia 300/BPAA writers’ dinner in Orlando, Fla. Zikes earned a place in the Bowling Writers Association of America Hall of Fame while Romeo received her accolades as the winner of the prestigious BWAA Meritorious Service Award. Diandra Asbaty was the recipient of the World Bowling Writers Female Bowler of the Year award.

The writers are fortunate to enjoy two breakfasts hosted by Brunswick and Storm. Brunswick shared information about cus-tomer trends – league play ebbing and open play growing – and that they are concentrating on entertainment and focus products and programs that drive open play. Brunswick has 100 centers in the U.S. and they are promoting in Russia, the hottest market right now, and Japan. Storm’s success is reflected in its rapid growth. In just fifteen years, Storm has captured the number one position in the high performance bowling ball market and a significant portion of the lower priced ball business. Their latest new element to the game is scented bowling balls and they said the response was overwhelming.

There are many accomplished and well known writers who are a part of BWAA and bowling is well covered from a variety of perspectives throughout the U.S. and foreign countries by its members.

BPAA’s Bowl Expo Continues the Vision

by Mary LynlyBowling Proprietors Association of America’s outgoing President Joe

Schumacher shared his enthusiasm for the new bowling campus being erected in Arlington, Texas where the United States Bowling Congress, National Bowling Museum & Hall of Fame and BPAA will come together to govern the sport of bowling. He appealed to the bowler, the proprietor and local and state leaders saying, “You are the bridge. No one knows the legacy of bowling better than you. Look for opportunities to promote new forms of bowling.” It appears the mold of BPAA leadership has been set as the affable President-elect Jim Sturm said, “We are on the cusp of something big.” We complimented Sturm on his presentation and he said, “When I realized I would be required to speak a lot, I decided to take a course on effective speaking and first and foremost they tell you to speak slowly and articulately if you want to get your point across.” It works.

Bowl Expo is all about education and recognition and a coming together of nearly 5,000 proprietors, vendors, and journalists from throughout the world – this year in Orlando, Florida. Activities included the “Salute to Bowling” reception and silent auction benefiting the National Museum and Hall of Fame and bowling’s outrageous block party “Universal City Walk” featuring Neal McCoy, Dread’1, Connis Vanterpool and the Com-modores. The pouring rain hampered some but it was just a momentary slow down.

USBC President Jeff Boje said, “The greatest challenge for us is get-ting people to drop the “I” and start saying “we” so we can show bowling to millions like they have never seen it before. Inspiration and aspiration are what have been missing.” He said it won’t be easy and it will take unity to turn opportunity into success.” Many people who make things happen are “A” types and vie to be in charge but do not always work well with others.

Fred Shreyer spoke on behalf of the Professional Bowlers Association and the upcoming 50th Anniversary of the PBA including its history and future. The greatest 50 bowlers list was unveiled and there will probably be some favorites that are not there. Eventually, the greatest bowler of all time will be selected.

Bowlers Journal President Keith Hamilton presented the BJ Proprietor of the Year award to Cathy Cooper for her creative and unique innovations in challenging times. BPAA’s Kathy DiSoccio presented the “Educator of the Year” award to Stephanie Legacy of Maryland who used the In-School bowling kit equipment to teach 4-year olds math, spelling and more plus an early introduction to the game of bowling.

Chris Schenkel was the BPAA Hall of Fame honoree posthumously. Schenkel of ABC Sports was the voice of bowling on ABC for 36 years, one of the longest TV runs in history. Accepting for the family was renowned bowling historian Chuck Pezzano who said, “I feel like a novice nun being asked to sub for Mother Teresa.” Toasted as the Golden Voice of our time, Schenkel had been honored in 14 Halls of Fame. Pezzano noted, “Many sports writers tell it like it was but Schenkel told it like it really was.”

Howard Baum of North Carolina was honored as the BPAA Proprietor of the Year. Baum has achieved a lot in his 50 years of service to bowling but credits his family for their encouragement although he was gone a lot. He lauded BPAA for their leadership and innovation in turning BPAA conventions and membership around resulting in growth and prosperity.

Bowling’s charitable endeavors netted $1,300,000 to the Susan B. Komen Foundation and bowlers have donated over 35 million to BVL benefiting our current troops, VA and Military Hospitals and Outreach Centers.

World renowned Instructor Dick Ritger received the 2008 BPAA Coaches Award and joined such trailblazers as Lou Bellisimo, Buddy Bomar, Loretta McCutcheon, Ned Day and more. Ritger humbly ac-cepted the crystal pin award as just “one” of the thousands of coaches all over the world.

Frank DiSoccio, BPAA Vice President of Sales and Activation, said, “Bowling has become trendy again.” Showing a variety of clips from around the U.S. included one with PBA Hall of Famer Bo Burton who commented that, “coming together should have been done long ago. You’re on a roll and it’s going to get better.” Once again, National Bowling week will be in August where we can showcase and promote the 67 million who bowl each year. There will be an opportunity for associations to vie for a $1,000 prize for the most innovative promotion. DiSoccio said participa-tion is up and lineage is up 1.8% across the U.S. BPAA will renew its connection with WWE again. The renewal affiliation with Anheuser Busch increased their bowling center sales by 35%! We are urged to patronize the sponsors: Sara Lee, DHL, Indiana Popcorn, WWE and the newest sponsor Wachovia who will be the BPAA bank of choice.

BPAA continues to stay close to their vision and pursue goals learning with each misstep and just getting better. There are people who have a job and perform the technical duties and then there are people who have a job and perform miracles. This is John Berglund. Without John’s expert management of staff and his willingness to facilitate making things hap-pen, BPAA would not run as smoothly as it does and would not have made the progress it has. John Berglund is in charge but he is also an expert in working with others – this is the difference. He is always the first to credit others but it is his drive and leadership that propels BPAA.

STUDIO CITY — A. “Who would believe you were a beauty indeed. When the days get shorter and the nights get long, lie awake when the rain comes. Nobody will know, when you’re old. When you’re old, nobody will know that you were a beauty, a sweet sweet beauty, but stone stone cold.” Yes Mick may know more than us, it may seem odd but we feel this way about all of our league bowlers.

PINZ ADULTS B. “And as we wind on down the road, Our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know. RECORD NUMBER OF TEAMS SCHEDULED FOR 2009 USBC OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPSALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Even with the entry deadline still

six months away, the 2009 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships in Las Vegas officially will be the largest tournament held outside of the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev.

Through Wednesday, more than 13,300 teams have registered for next year’s event, which tops the 13,222 teams that turned out for the 2005 tournament in Baton Rouge, La., the USBC Open Championships first trip to Louisiana.

Next year will be the Open Championships second visit to the Entertainment Capital of the World and comes after a 23-year absence. The 1986 event, which lasted for 121 days, drew 10,019 teams to Las Vegas and marked the first time more than 10,000 teams participated. The participation record for the Open Cham-pionships is 17,285 teams, which came when the 78-lane National Bowling Stadium opened its doors in 1995.

“Our event is based on 105 years of tradition, but continues to evolve and grow,” said Jack Mordini, USBC Vice President of Memberships and Tournament Services. “We’re excited about returning to Las Vegas, and the numbers tell us that the bowlers are looking forward to it, too.”

The 2009 Open Championships, being held at Cashman Center, will kick off on Feb. 21 and run for a record 154 days, concluding on July 24. The tournament will feature a new look with state-of-the-art LED scoreboards and 56 lanes for the first time in a non-Reno year.

With a capacity of 16,300 teams, spots for the 2009 Open Championships are filling fast. April and May already are sold out, but there are still plenty of prime times available in the re-maining months.

“Everybody is already talking about the Open Champion-ships, and we’re all really excited about it,” said Patty McCune, Association Manager for the Southern Nevada USBC, which has more than 23,000 members. “It’s too bad we don’t get to go away for the tournament next year, but it will give a lot more of our members a chance to compete. It will also make a huge dif-ference for the community because so many more people will be visiting the city.”

The 2009 Open Championships will be preceded by the USBC Masters, which will return to the Open Championships venue for the first time since 2001, and the festivities in Las Vegas will conclude with the World Tenpin Bowling Association Women’s World Championships, which will be held on the tournament lanes from July 25 until August 2.

“The Open Championships venue is the biggest stage in bowling, and we’re glad to be able to share it with bowlers of all calibers from all over the world,” Mordini said. “I think this is great exposure for the Open Championships and an important step for international bowling.”

The official closing date for entries is Dec. 12, 2008. For more information, visit USBCopen.com or contact the Tournament Entries department at (800) 514-2695.

Kerry is “Wright” On in the Rocky Marsh Doubles

by Joy McGregorKerry Wright could do no wrong Friday morning in the Rocky

Marsh Doubles as he pummeled the pockect and showed his maple moxey on games of 216-258 and 267 for 747 and added 220 to post a great 961 set.

Not too far behind and nipping at Kerry’s heels, was John Conway. John fired games of 235-225 and wow, 279 for 739 and added 211 to register a fine 950.

A 279 game is indeed an achievement and it also seems to be the most popular score; so far this season we have a four-way tie. Now the gauntlet is down to see just WHO has the “power” to unleash....

Rose Williams, our featured female bowler this week, put on her own fireworks display firing games of 236-225 and 247 for 708 and added 212 to tally 920. Nice show Rose!!
