Watch the Daytime Prayer with Seminarian Grant https://www.facebook.com/stpatrickparishstcharles/ videos/327141318311161

Dear Parishioners,

As many of you know, my name is Grant Colborn, a seminarian for the Diocese of Rockford. I was sent to St. Patrick’s back in March when Mundelein Seminary suspended it’s classes due to the coronavirus. I finished my classes online while staying here at the parish and was privileged enough to be assigned to St. Patrick’s for the summer as well. Over the past few months, I have served at Mass, assisted with the livestream, produced various videos and devotions on our parish Facebook page, and perhaps most of all able to know and spend time with many of you. I would like to thank you all for welcoming me so kindly into your parish community. It has been truly inspiring to witness your devout faith in Jesus Christ and support of your fellow parishioners especially amid these trying times.

While this past week marked the end of my summer assignment, I will be returning to St. Patrick’s on weekends once school starts again in late August. Through Mundelein Seminary’s Teaching Parish Program, seminarians are sent to certain parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago to help assist at weekend liturgies and certain

parish programs. The benefit of being a Rockford seminarian is that instead of being sent to parishes within the Archdiocese of Chicago, we are sent back to Rockford to parishes within our own diocese. I am blessed that St. Patrick’s will continue to be my Teaching Parish for the next four years; until God willing, I am ordained a priest of Jesus Christ! I look forward to meeting many more of you as well as cultivating the relationships I have already begun to establish in the months and years to come. Please know of my prayers for all of you and please pray for me and all men discerning a call to the holy priesthood.

God bless, Seminarian Grant

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES ABOUT MASS ATTENDANCE 4

Our Priests enjoy seeing you at Mass!

We pray you are enjoying being at Mass and hope that more people are able to sign up and attend Mass if they choose to do so, while still preserving social distance and continuing to observe all requirements for sanitizing the facilities. This will allow our families to return to worship in a safe manner. We will keep everyone informed weekly on Thursdays as our parish plan comes together, so please sign up for Flocknote and Subscribe to YouTube from our website home page to assure you have the latest news and spread the word for others to do so as well. We will have 75 spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis, per Downtown Mass and 300 spaces

available per Crane Road Mass in the online sign up. For those who are unable to access the site, you may

call Mike Zak at 630-215-5577 to sign up for a Mass. The capacity is subject to change as we move forward.

Due to the limited seating per Mass, we ask that you only sign up once during each weekend and note the number of

adults and children from your household are going to attend. You need to sign up for weekday Masses as well, but you can sign up for as many you would like.

The diocese has recommended that persons at risk should remain at home. At risk includes adults 65 years and older and those with heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, immunocompromised, asthma, chronic kidney, and/or chronic liver disease should remain at home. (8 out of 10 COVID related deaths reported in the United States have been in adults 65 years or older. Those listed medical conditions put anyone at any age at an increased risk for COVID complications.)

Also, anyone with ANY of the following symptoms SHOULD NOT come to church at this time: • fever (100.4 or higher) • cough • sore throat • shortness of breath • chills • muscle pain • new loss of taste/smell • vomiting or diarrhea

**If within the past 14 days you have experienced ANY of these symptoms, been in contact with anyone who has exhibited any of the symptoms or who tested positive for COVID, You should NOT attend Mass.**

On your scheduled Mass day, we ask that you please follow all of these procedures completely:

Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes before Mass because of sign-in, screening and seating procedures.

All Mass participants and children over the age of 2 years, must wear a mask before entering the building, except when receiving Holy Communion.

Hand sanitizer will be required upon entering the church. There will be no missallettes or hymnals. If you bring your own

worship aid, like Magnificat or Word Among Us, please make sure you take it home with you as anything left behind will be disposed of. You are encouraged to use one of the many apps available for use on your phone. Visit our website to print or view the aides and print bulletins.

Social distancing of 6 feet must be maintained at all times. Parishioners will be escorted by the ushers and assigned a place in the church to sit (You cannot choose your own seats). Also, social distancing between non-family members must be maintained when entering and leaving church and during the Communion procession. Members in the same household may sit together.

On Sundays, there will not be passing of the collection basket. Baskets to receive parishioner offerings will be on a table near the back of church.

For the time being, there will not be a communal sign of peace or holding of hands during the Our Father.

If you are uncomfortable receiving Holy Communion, you are not required to do so. You may make a Spiritual Communion.

In the Communion line, people will come up single file maintaining proper social distancing. If there is a need, the priest will come to you. Everyone will be required to receive Holy Communion in their hand, held out very flat.

If at all possible, we are asking you to avoid using the restrooms for the 45-60 minutes you are at church. When someone uses the restroom, it will require us to clean it. We will also be cleaning the pews between Masses.

At the end of Mass, those who are participating will exit the church, beginning with those in back. Unfortunately, at this time, no social gatherings may take place before or after Mass. But we can wave at each other!

As we receive updates from the diocese allowing for larger Mass attendance, we will communicate that along with any procedural changes. If you have any questions, please contact one of the priests or parish office: 630-338-8000.

PRAY THE CHAPLET OF Divine Mercy

at 3:00 p.m. at HOME

Our Lord promised extraordinary graces to those who recite this special prayer. The chaplet is

prayed on rosary beads. It is appropriate to pray the Chaplet during the

“Hour of Great Mercy” at 3:00 pm each afternoon. This recalls the time of Christ’s death on the cross.

“Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you. Everything passes away except God. God alone is sufficient.” ~ St. Teresa of Avila

Parent’s Prayer for Their Children Dear Lord,

Thank you for the gift of my child/children,

Thank you for entrusting them to my care. Lord, in these uncertain times I am afraid.

I ask you to give me the strength, wisdom, and courage that I need to raise my children in the faith.

Help me to see your will for my family and to follow that path in all that I do. I beg your assistance in knowing how

to lead my children to heaven and how to bring your joy into our family life.

Lord, I ask you to allow me to see each day of our family life as the gift

that you have given and not to waste this gift on

needless worry or despair. I know that you work all things for good

and I trust in your eternal plan for our lives. Help me to love you more each day and witness this love to my family.

Amen
