STROOP ROAD TO CLOSE FOR BRIDGE REPAIR
Complete closure of Stroop Road in both directionsbetween Woodman Drive and Glenheath / Braddock tobegin after Labor Day and remain closed through the endof the year. Detour will be in place. Please plan to useDorothy Lane as the alternate route.
Stroop Road will be completely closed to allow forreplacement of the Montgomery County bridge in thissection of the roadway. Once the bridge is replacedStroop Road will return to two lanes of traffic in eachdirection.

Recently, at a joint meeting ofKettering City Council &Kettering Board of Education, welaunched a community educationeffort calledKettering: Facing the Epidemic.
The opioid and heroin epidemicis impacting our region, our city,our neighborhoods and ourKettering families.
Addiction knows no geographicor socio-economic boundaries. The rapid escalation ofoverdoses and related incidentshas changed the way our firstresponders, schools, healthcare
With the continued success of our Kettering PoliceDepartment's National Night Out, this year's event will bebigger than ever.
National Night Out is Tuesday August 1st from 6-8 PM.
In order to best accommodate all of the fun we haveplanned, Stroop Road will be shut down in both directionsbetween Shroyer Road and Far Hills Avenue from 5 PM to9PM.This allows National Night Out to expand from theparking lot of Town & Country Shopping Center onto theroadway, which provides more room for vendors andactivities.
We look forward to seeing everyone come out on August1st for this family fun event!

FRAZE SEASON IS HERE!
This year marks the 29th year of the Neighborhood PrideProgram! This program is designed to honor residents whohave made significant improvements to their homes orwho have maintained their properties impeccably yearafter year. All Neighborhood Pride Award winners are publiclyrecognized at a City Council meeting, and an attractivesign is placed in their front yard for three weeks, to leteveryone know of their honor.
Last summer, more than 500 properties were nominatedfor the award and 38 awards were presented. Pleasenominate your neighbor, yourself, or any Ketteringresident you think is deserving of the award. To nominatea property, visit our website to complete a nominationform by August 1.
PRESCRIPTION PILL/PATCH DROP BOX INSTALLED INKETTERING POLICE DEPARTMENT LOBBY
In an effort to continue to combat the opioid crisis in our community,we have installed a prescription pill/patch drop box in our lobby.The safe disposal of prescription medication, especially the powerfulopioids, keeps these drugs from getting into the wrong hands. Weare protecting both our citizens as well as the environment, twogoals we believe everybody supports.

Reinvestment toward improvements in our infrastructureremains an area of emphasis for Kettering City Council.The 2017 Kettering capital improvement fund budget is$17.5 million, $2.2 million of which is covered throughoutside funding. The City of Kettering EngineeringDepartment will be very active in 2017 with constructionprojects throughout Kettering.
Details on the major projects taking place on ShroyerRoad, Stroop Road and Wilmington Pike are provided onour website and will be updated weekly.

The Kettering Fire Department will be inspecting firehydrants throughout the city beginning 6/1/2017 and willcontinue until 8/31/2017.
Fire hydrants will be inspected Monday thru Friday 8:00 AMuntil 4:00 PM.
During these inspections water may appear brown fromthe disturbance of mineral deposits which can accumulatein the water distribution system.
These mineral deposits pose no threat to health orsafety, although these deposits could discolor clothing.The fire department suggests residents check to ensurewater is clear prior to washing clothing. If brown water isobserved simply run cold water until it clears.
Kettering Fire Department will be utilizing the Code RedCommunity Alert system to inform residents whenhydrants will be inspected in their area. Residents will begiven 24 hours of notice prior to inspections.
Residents are being asked to wash clothing after 5:30 PMMonday thru Friday or anytime Saturday or Sunday to avoidthe risk of discoloration caused by brown water. Ifclothing becomes discolored it is suggested to washclothing again using a rust removing detergent prior todrying.
Kettering residents can sign up to receive thesenotifications by visiting the City of Kettering website .
