Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, July 16/17, 2016
Martha and Mary are the focus of this weekend’s Gospel, which
abounds with rich themes about hospitality, service, and find-
ing the right balance between ac/on and prayerful a0en/on to
the Lord. Chris/ans who are good stewards of their faith life
realize that if they are too busy to enjoy peaceful, private /me
with the Lord, then something is out of balance in their spiritu-
ality. If we make /me for Mass, but then carry on with our busy
schedules without prayer, medita/on and reflec/on, we are
missing out. If we find ourselves anxious and harried by life’s
rou/nes, could it be a sign that something in our spiritual life
needs some serious a0en/on?

Question for Children: Name a time when you shared
what you had with a friend, or a classmate at school.
Question for Youth: Martha chose to serve, Mary chose
to sit at Jesus' feet and listen to Him. Of those two actions,
service or prayer, which do you feel more comfortable
with? Why?
Question for Adults: The Gospel today invites us to
serve and to be hospitable. When did you welcome Jesus
into your home through the presence of a neighbor or a

fidgety or boisterous. Please feel free to use the
Cry Room or go to Emmaus Way till they settle down
so all parishioners can hear and enjoy the service.
You can hear and see the Mass from the Cry Room
and on the TV screens in Emmaus Way. Thank you

I was nervous, I did not want to attend the final event.
Standing aside, letting others come and go, not wanting
To become one with them, I weighed staying or leaving.
A beautiful child approached me and said, "Are you alright?"
The sweetness of this child touched my heart as I reached
Down to take her face into my hands, looking into her
Beautiful eyes I said, "I am alright."
I was given the mercy of loving words that made everything
"Alright." Jesus whispers words of tender mercy to us in
many
Forms. Making the hard things, the joyous things and the
Loving Things “Alright.”

"West Side” Changing Lives Forever -
Bridges out of Poverty
Many of our efforts involve helping people with short term solutions to their needs instead of helping to elimi-nate their need. One way to provide long term help is a learning opportunity we call "West Side” Changing Lives Forever - Bridges out of Poverty. It is a joint ef-fort with Saint Anthony, Saint Christopher, Saint Gabriel and Saint Michael SVdP Conferences.
This training is a Facilitator supported, group based, study program conducted by 12 "Investigators". The Investigators are people who have decided to improve their lives in any of eleven areas including financial, spiritual, mental, etc. so they can move away from gov-ernment and other assistance.
The most recent class started Monday April 18. We still need Mentors, meals and childcare volunteers for the class. The training lasts about 18 weeks. For more in-formation about becoming a mentor please check out http://trustedmentors.org/
These people need our help. They have decided to im-prove their lives, how can you help? Is God calling you to share your skills or time?
If you would like more information on how you might be able to help please call or text Paul Guenin at 317-627-2309 or [email protected].
