Why HAPP for the Jubilee Year of Mercy?In order to better understand what our Holy Father is calling us to do for this Jubilee Year, please read the Papal Bull Misericordiae Vultus.

Jubilee Year of Mercy begins on December 8

Beginning November 5, We will use 33 Days to Morning Glory (33DMG) to prepare for an International Marian Consecration on December 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.

“The season of Lent during this Jubilee Year should also be lived more intensely as a privileged moment to celebrate and experience God’s mercy.” Papal Bull, No. 17

During the entire season of Lent, we will be on the Consoling the Heart of Jesus (CHJ) retreat, which brings retreatants deep into the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

“Mercy: the word reveals the very mystery of the Most Holy Trinity... the ultimate and supreme act by which God comes to meet us... the fundamental law that dwells in the heart of every person who looks sincerely into the eyes of his brothers and sisters on the path of life.” Papal Bull, No. 2

Wisdom & Works of Mercy, beginning with The ‘One Thing’ is Three, helps us understand the concept of communio (communion) by explaining its three points: Communion with the Trinity; Transforming Communion with Christ; and the Mission of Communion.

“It is my burning desire that during this Jubilee, the Christian people may reflect on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.” Papal Bull, No. 15

‘You Did It to Me’ not only helps readers identify practical ways of living out the works of mercy, but helps them understand a “scriptural approach” to mercy as well.

PA R T 1The Immaculate Heart

Starting with the book 33 Days to Morning Glory, the goal of this program is to lead us to formally entrust ourselves to Mary as Christ did at the Annunciation, and as He willed for His disciples to do at the foot of the Cross. This retreat consists of 6 DVD lessons that are 30 minutes in length and a Retreat Companion for each participant.

December 8 Consecration Day — Hold a special Mass for this day and for the beginning of the Year of Mercy

PA R T 2The Sacred Heart

Mary then leads us to the Sacred Heart, which begins the second part of Stage One. The book Consoling the Heart of Jesus gives us an awareness of God’s infinite mercy and how we can give Him joy, showing us the way to console His heart by accepting His love and trusting in Him completely. It also focuses on what to do with the suffering we all encounter, helping us grow spiritually closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This retreat consists of 10 DVD lessons that are 45 minutes in length and a Retreat Companion for each participant.

We will be on this retreat during Lent. What better time of year to draw close to the Sacred Heart of Jesus?

April 3 Hold a 3:00 Holy Hour at your parish for the Feast of Divine Mercy

Stage 2 begins with The ‘One Thing’ Is Three. The purpose of Stage Two is to give group members a summary of Church teaching and Catholic wisdom and to offer suggestions for various works of mercy, programs, and support. The group will discern and choose an apostolate individually, as a group, or both. This discernment is aided by reading the book You Did It to Me. This study consists of 10 DVD lessons and a Retreat Companion for each participant.
