Reading Club Dip lomas Give n 229 in Patchogue STRATEGY SESSION is held by former Republican National Chairman Leonard Hall , left , and John J. Han , Jr., of Bellport , Republican candidate for Congress in Suffolk' s First District. Mr. Hall is a key member of the Coldw ater-Miller strategy board. The "Visit the World's Fair" Reading Club sponsored by the Patchogue Library closed August 14. The 229 successful members attended parties at the library August 20. Reading Club-diplomas and miniature Unispheres were given to them, Arthur S. Gregor, authorof the recent book "Short History of the Universe" , talked to the children about astronomy and space com- munication. A discussion fol- lowed his lecture on the timely subject- John Allan Andersen directed tiie group singing and accompan- ied them on the ukelele. Forty-four members received prizes for writing 30 reports on books read during the Summer. Wot Pavement Causes Crash In Patchogue A 17-year-old Patchogue youth narrowly escaped Injury last Thursday night ln P atchogue when the car on which he was fix- ing a Oat tire was struck from the rear by another vehicle. Ronald Hochhelser of 29 J en- nings Avenue , was taking the lugs from the left rear wheel of the 1961 vehicle about 9:18 p.m. As- sisting him was Bud Long of Academy Street , Patchogue. Fifth Precinct Patrolman Nel- son Collins , Jr ., said the driver of the second car, Patricia Sachse, 19, of 830 Doane Ave- nue, Bellport , told police that she was westbound on Maiden Lane, saw young Hochhelser fix- ing the tire , attempted ta slow down, and skidded about 9:18 p.m. on the wet pavement into the rear of the parked vehicle while it was raining. Miss Sachse was treated ln the emergency ward of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital for a bruised head and knee . Her passenger, Barbara Petoello , 19, of 18 Geo- rge Court, Bellport , escaped in- Jury ln the accident. A 17-year-old Patchogue youthnarrowly escaped Injury lastThursday night ln Patchogue whenthe car on which he was fix-ing a Oat tire was struck fromthe rear by another vehicle.
