This position may be renewed depending on funding and performance. The Tow Center for Digital Journalism at the Columbia Journalism School is seeking an Associate Research Scholar to act as the project director for a high profile, multiyear project examining the relationship between technology companies and journalism. Under the working title "Platforms and Publishers" the twoyear program will deliver white papers, scholarly research and a series of events. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to actively help shape the debate and make a significant contribution to the field. The requirements for the Associate Research Scholar are: A deep and demonstrable knowledge of the research field with their own published works, excellent project management and editorial skills, a track record in organizing successful events with a strong academic or policy component, a thorough understanding of the role technology plays in the transformation of journalism. Qualifications for a successful candidate would ideally be a PhD with relevant experience in publishing or project management, however candidates with advanced degree who fit the requirements are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be comfortable with the pressure of delivering work on tight deadlines and evolving priorities in a professional manner. They must have excellent judgment and be able to work in a fastpaced environment. The role requires coordinating the output of Tow research fellows working on the project, as well as working with the Director of the Tow Center and the Research Director to shape and deliver the program. The Associate Research Scholar will report to the Director of the Tow Center and work closely with the Research Director and Tow Center General Manager across all aspects of the program, including: Assisting in the development of and refining of research topics; carrying out research tasks including conducting interviews, running focus groups, and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data Supporting conversations with representatives from companies, research networks, etc. about the project and its findings Producing materials for a series of policy exchange forums, highlevel meetings, and other activities Monitoring and amplifying the impact of the research program; helping to identify opportunities and gaps to raise the profile of the project and the Center as a whole Ensuring the project is meeting deliverable's in a timely manner; additional tasks as needed
