8:30-9:30 p.m. Gerardo Calderón will explain how ancient cultures
from Latin America used natural resources to make
their own musical instruments, and the importance of
the music in ancient civilizations. Gerardo will play all
the instruments to show participants the different
textures and sounds from each instrument.
Margaret Eng’s Stories from the
People of the Pacific Northwest
Saturday, July 14
8:30-9:30 p.m. Native American stories from the people from Southern
Oregon to the base of Alaska. Stories and some of the
animal pelts will be shared during the evening.

8:30-9:30 p.m. Songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Lukas Borsten channels a delightfully eclectic range of influences including Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Elliott Smith and more. He plays in an energetic, heartfelt, lyric-driven folk style, incorporating originals, creative covers, stories, harmonica and even some saxophone into an always memorable night of music! When not performing solo he leads Portland-based band, Ghost Towns.

Through story, ecology, ethnobotany and identification tips, we will illuminate our native trees in ways you never imagined. 8:00-9:00 p.m. What’s faster than a speeding mosquito, more powerful
than bug repellent and able to navigate the deepest dark of
night? Bats! Naturalist Kim Wilson will share great bat
facts and images while we watch and listen for real live
bats.

Alton Takiyama-Chung tell folktales from countries
across the Pacific Ocean. Hear treasured folktales which

metal, wood, larynx, string and hide.

Friday, August 24
8 – 9 p.m. Conjunto Maier plays both traditional and modern Caribbean dance music from son to bolero, and salsa to cumbia. This iteration of Conjunto Maier features Dina Martínez (lead vocals, hand-percussion), Handy Martínez (congas, vocals) and Ethan Maier (keyboard, vocals).

8 – 9 p.m. No camping trip is complete without a good bear story. Join author, artist and tracker Linda Jo Hunter for lively bear tales collected from years of tracking and guiding people to see bears in the wild. Is it possible to get over our fear of bears? Learn how the professionals use respect, bear body language and knowledge of bear motivations to deal safely with wild bears and camp with these amazing creatures.

Who can deal with these troublesome varmints? Why, Little Man Jack, of course, the world champion varmint whacker! Colorful shadow puppets and live banjo and hammer dulcimer music bring this Appalachian fairy tale to life.
