2015 College Sailing Panel All high school students and sailors interested in sailing in college and learning more about the recruitment process, contacting coaches, and strengthening their sailing resume, as well as participating on a Club or Varsity college team, are invited to attend a College Sailing Panel from 6-8pm at the Nantucket Yacht Club, co-hosted by NYC and Nantucket Community Sailing, on Friday, August 7th. The discussion will be led by Justin Assad, Head Coach of the Dartmouth College Sailing Team. Cara Vavolotis (Old Dominion University Asst Sailing Coach) and Quentin Chafee (University of Vermont Head Sailing Coach), as well as NYC, NCS and GHYC sailing instructors, who are currently sailing in college, will also be on-hand to answer questions and share their experiences. Attendees should come prepared with a notebook and questions. Parents are welcome to attend, as well. Pizza will be provided for students. No registration necessary.

‘Round the Island Race NCS Instructors Chris Raymond, Andy Fitzgerald, Emily Augello, Hannah Johnson, Gavan Walsh and Conor Deegan (pictured at right) sailed the NCS J/015 PRIMA in the 2015 ‘Round the Island Race on Martha’s Vineyard on July 25th. The team finish 7th out of 13 boats in Class 6 PHRF C. Full results can be found here. Congrats to our instructors!

NCS Instructor Finishes 12th at Lightning Worlds Congratulations to Adam Ceely, former Nantucket High School Sailing Team Captain and NCS student and current 420 Blue and 420 Red Coach, and his teammates teammates Michael Zonnenberg and Michael Booker on their 12th place finish at the 2015 Lightning Class International Master’s and World Championship at the Buffalo Canoe Club in Ontario, Canada. Unbelievable prizes! The Opera House Cup Raffle benefits Nantucket Community Sailing. Two raffles will be held this year - a $25/ticket raffle and a $100/ticket raffle. $100 Raffle prizes include a Porsche bicycle, BLADE Round-trip travel tickets, Offshore Sailing School, and more (at right). Jetties Sailing Center Closed for Pops Concert

The Jetties Sailing Center will be closed beginning at 12pm on Friday, August 7th for the Boston Pops concert and will reopen at 9am on Sunday, August 9th.

NCS Earns Top Honors at GHYC Jobson Cup

Members of the 420 Blue Class, along with members of the Opti Blue Class, traveled down to Great Harbor Yacht Club on Wednesday, July 22nd to sail in the annual Jobson Cup Regatta. 420 Blue sailors Ben Rudd and Teddy Bulajic finished first in the 420 Fleet. Congratulations!
