Intimate battles is the story of 5 women from different countries who survived domestic violence. Their fight to face it not only against their partners but also the society and their government. It is a slide of life of what violence has done to them, how it has broken their lives, in the place that's supposed to be the most safe and lovable: their own homes.

The labyrinths have many entrance doors but just a single exit. The documentary El laberinto de Octavio Paz, by the Cervantes Institute, explores how one labyrinth who was penetrated through its doors by the surrealism and the avant-gardes worked. Mexico's prehispanic past, Indian culture and Eastern sacred texts, the contemporary art of hispanic literature and poetry, the moral essays and politics that led to a gateway: the work of the poet and essayist Octavio Paz.

De niña tuve una ídola: mi tía Adriana. En el 2007 la tomaron detenida y me enteré que en su juventud trabajó para la DINA, policía secreta del dictador Pinochet. Tiempo después, ya en democracia, se fugó del país mientras enfrentaba un proceso judicial por el asesinato de un dirigente comunista. Hoy mi tía vive una pesadilla. En Australia los residentes chilenos piden su extradición y marchan en su contra. El caso se ha vuelto mediático. Tengo un acceso privilegiado a los victimarios de la dictadura y estoy dispuesta a llegar a las últimas consecuencias para conocer la verdad y saber quién es realmente mi tía Adriana.
As a child I had an idol: my aunt Adriana. In 2007, she was detained and I found out she had worked for DINA, the secret police of dictator Pinochet. Later, she fled the country while facing a judicial process for the murder of the communist leader. Now, my aunt is living a nightmare. In Australia, the Chilean residents request their extradition and march against her. The case has caused a media uproar. I have access to the aggressors of dictatorship and I’m willing to reach the ultimate consequences in order to know the truth and who my aunt Adriana really is.

En junio de 1967, la Corte de Tierra Amarilla, Nuevo México, fue asaltada por hombres armados bajo el mando del líder chicano, Reies López Tijerina. El resultado de tan audaz acción, fue la mayor cacería humana en la historia reciente de los Estados Unidos. Tijerina logró sobrevivir a la cárcel, un hospital psiquiátrico, y varios intentos de asesinato. El movimiento chicano se desvaneció, y todo el mundo pensaba lo mismo de Tijerina. La gente habla de él como un santo, un hombre iluminado, un hombre que usaba la violencia en busca de una causa justa. Lo llamaban King Tiger. In June of 1967, the court of Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico, was assaulted by armed men under the command of Chicano leader, Reies López Tijerina. The outcome of such bold action, was the largest manhunt in the recent history of the United States. Tijerina managed to survive prison, a psychiatric hospital, and several assassination attempts. The Chicano movement faded away, and everyone thought the same of Tijerina. People speak of him as a saint, an illuminated, man looking for a fair cause though violence. They called him King Tiger.

Lola vive en un asilo de ancianas público donde todo es compartido: la ropa, la hora del baño, el único ataúd y los finales. Su única pertenencia es la memoria de su grandes amores: su madre y su marido. Gracias a ellos Lola tiene actividad, acudiendo constantemente a la ventana de la puerta principal para ver a su marido en el asilo de enfrente y al teléfono para llamarle a su mamá. Ambos fallecidos ya hace tiempo, ellos son lo único que a Lola le da fuerzas para escribir su final en un mundo que le es, de otra forma, muy impersonal.
Lola lives in a public nursing home where everything is shared: the clothes, the showers, the only coffin and the endings. Her only personal belonging is the memory of her two great loves: her mother and husband. Thanks to them Lola has something to do every day, going to the main door’s window to check on her husband who lives across the street and to the phone, where she tries to call her mother. Both died long ago, but they are Lola’s only way to get the strength to write her end in a world that, otherwise, is very impersonal for her.

Durante la marcha, los tambores martillan a un mismo ritmo. Bajo la mirada estricta de sus oficiales, los soldados se reúnen en el patio de los barracones. La bandera argentina se eleva; el sonido de trompetas la acompañan en su lenta subida por el mástil. Con precisión clínica, retrata a un joven recluta en su camino a través del entrenamiento militar, su transformación de la adolescencia a la adultez marcada por la duda y el conflicto. A distancia empática de su protagonista, la película revela la tensión entre el sistema rígidamente definido de la academia militar y la vulnerabilidad del joven. Su transición a la madurez en una integra institución.

The Argentinian flag is raised; the sound of trumpets accompanying it on its slow ascent up the mast. With clinical precision, portrays a young recruit on his path through military training, his transformation from youth to young adult marked by doubt and conflict. In empatheic distance to its protagonist, the film reveals the tension between the rigidly defined system of the military academy and the vulnerability of the young man. These life stories are intertwined with the memories of other exiles who are related to this family. The film spans from the beginning of the twentieth century, up to the Mexico and Spain of our days.

El largometraje ilustra el excepcional proceso del maíz, la delicadeza para seleccionar la semilla y preparar la tierra que va a recibirla, la tenacidad de sus cuidados, la cosecha al cabo de los meses y los usos vitales de sus frutos.
Maize in times of war traces the yearly cycle of four Indigenous maize plots in different regions of México. This film illustrates the exceptional process of maize, the delicacy of selecting seeds, preparing the soil, the tenacity and the nuances involved in the whole process, when the harvest arrives after months of works the families enjoy the fruit of their labor.
