Welcome to our seventh annual sale, although the excitement for us makes it feel like its still the first. Before we get into talking about the offering, we would like to take a moment to thank you. Whether it is bidding or buying, offering a helping hand, giving knowledgeable advice or allowing us to farm your land. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to continue doing what we love. For those of you who are new to our program, we are a family ran purebred Simmental operation. We will be calving out close to 275 purebred females, some which are part of our embryo program. We are fortunate to still be farming along side my parents, Barney and Melody. Over the years they have been our major support system giving us years of knowledge and many hours of help. They run a successful commercial herd that is a very important part of our roots. Again, Dad has opened his entire replacement heifer pen letting us have his top heifers for your appraisal. Along with these commercial heifers we have dug deep into our replacement heifer pen and are offering a strong set of registered heifers. Also, we care for and manage DGR Cattle Company’s herd. Daryl and Roberta Renaud are very good family friends and we appreciate all their support through out the year. One of our main goals every year is to bring you an animal that is of the highest quality. We spend countless hours looking for our next breeding piece, with the idea that this individual will need to create offspring that will be profitable for the commercial market. We hope that every animal we sell will go on to be profitable and leave a lasting impression in your herd. Also, as noted through out the catalogue, we pay very close attention to the maternal strengths with in their pedigrees as the replacement heifers are a very important part. Your stories of success with our animals are our success stories. The bulls are fed on a TMR diet that consists of corn and cereal silage, chopped hay and a starch free pellet. All the ingredients are tested and balanced to try and allow the animal to achieve a strong ADG without harming their long-term development. All the bulls are gene tested in one form or another. All the Fullblood bulls have been tested for the dilution gene. A non-dilutor will not throw a grey calf if crossed with a black cow. The red and black bulls have been tested for the homozygous polled gene. A Homozygous polled bull will poll 100% of his calves. Also, this year we tested the black bulls for coat color. A Homozygous black bull’s calves will always have a black hair coat. We know that sale day is busy and that there can be schedule conflicts. If this is your situation, we invite you to come out to the farm and view the bull and heifer pens at your convenience or join us the day prior to the sale for our open house. DELIVERYAll bulls and heifers that are remaining to be housed after the sale must be insured. Bulls will be housed free of charge until April 15, 2018. Animals will be delivered free of charge to points across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This will be done at the buyer’s convenience, however, if the truck is in your area you may be asked to take your bull early. We will do our utmost to deliver your bull to your yard.

SIGHT UNSEENIf you are unable to attend the sale, but are interested in bulls or heifers, please feel free to give the consignors a call prior to sale day and they will personally go over the bulls and your program to recommend the animal that would meet your needs. Following that, the Transcon Livestock Team will represent your needs in a professional and confidential manner.

HEALTH & FERTILITYAll bulls will be scrotal measured. All bulls over 12 months of age will be semen tested. All bulls were treated with Ivomec and such products and have received all their vaccinations. Contact seller for details on programs. All sale bulls have been given Fusogard vaccine for foot rot prior to the sale.

EPD EXPLANATIONEPD’s are “Expected Progeny Differences”. They are a useful tool in selection. EPD’s incorporate the individual animal with its ancenstry performance. EPD’s do no compare across cattle breeds. They are individual-based per breed. EPD’s indicate a probably variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPD’s for calendar year bull calves is generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously as one of several selection tools.

WELCOME FROM TRANSCONOn behalf of the Beechinors and their Guest Consignors welcome to the 7th annual Bull and Female Sale. This fall we saw once again how the heavyweight cattle brought a substantial premium, it’s time to cash in on these heavy weight calves! Come get a bull that will push those scales down, he will pay for himself in a big hurry. All the bulls have been tested for Non Diluter and polled genetics.

You’ll see a few different sire groups in this year’s catalogue. The largest sire groups being from Titanium and Magnum. Consistency! That’s what I think about when I think of Magnum. His calves exhibit explosive growth, in short they have become known as meat machines. I know that he has surpassed the high expectations that the Beechinors have placed on him. In the past four years Magnum has produced over $204,000 from his sons alone. The Beechinors reached this by selling less than 6 bulls a year…impressive. His sons work!! Don’t even get me started on his daughters. Titanium was a bull bought from JNR to use on the cows, but has consistently brought down

birthweight and now can be confidently used in the heifer pen.Other bulls used include but are not limited to: Missile, BlueChip, Loaded up, Kill Switch, Klyber, Jug and Dirty Harry. The Beechinors put a strong emphasis in developing great and sound cow families. You’ll see that they have an embryo program utilizing the genetics from She Devil, Unbelievable 1U, 49x and El Tigre.

The heifers are coming right out of the replacement pen, if they weren’t being sold here, you’d see their calves in Beechinors upcoming bull and female sales. I’ve bought some of these heifers; they have become top cow families in my herd! Joining the sale once again will be the smiling faces of Daryl and Roberta Renaud of DGR.

Titan is very similar to his full brother in that he is very smooth in his front end with soft sides and a wide hind end. Tinker, Titan’s dam, is an impressive dark red Radium daughter with a fancy, feminine build and square udder, out of a great cow family. Where to start on this guy. Element is a bull that possesses a small head that leads into a smooth front end. Ms Suzie is a cow that has left a huge imprint on our herd and after flushing her over the past year will continue to have an impact for many years to come. To date she has produced sale topping progeny with a daughter selling for $27000 ad a son for $22000, not to mention that her daughter Unbelievable 1U is one of our top Fleckvieh donors. Component is the end of an Era. Sweet Pea 78S unfortunately came in open this fall at the age of 13 years. This dark red cow will be remembered for her perfect feet and udder along with a very friendly demeanor. Her final son takes many of these attributes with him and adds some extra hair. Much like his sire, who we spotted at a couple months of age, Heavy Metal has been special for a very long time. He stood out as a calf with that attention demanding presence, that commanded everyones attention throughout the summer. Then he pounded down the scale at weaning, ranking first. He has

continued to develop into a super soft made bull with thickness across his top and a big hip. Like most Titaniums, he is fluid in his movement and is smooth made and a docile temperament. Heavy Metal’s dam has been a no miss cow that is as consistent of a cow as we have. Her progeny always rise to the top with many progeny excelling in their respective herds. Non-diluter

When we decided to flush Unbelievable 1U to Titanium we didn’t imagine that the results would turn out they way they have. Every bull calf born to date has made it to the bull sale. Steel is a moderate framed bull that has a big square hip. We feel that Steel will continue to develop into a very impressive individual. We feel very fortunate to have acquired the Hendrika cow family in the Eagle Ridge purchase. Over the last two years this cow family has collectively brought 12 bulls to the sale, an impressive feat. Ferro is a super eye appealing bull. His cherry red color and fully pigmented face has made him a favorite of mine since day one. He is extremely fluid in in his movements and is smooth in his lines. I believe he is the perfect mix of calving ease and performance. His dam is a young cow that looks to have a bright future with a correct udder and ample milk. We lost her first calf just before calving and he was a standout. Ferro didn’t disappoint as he weighed an impressive 857 lbs. at weaning. Non-dilutor

Metallic is not hard to find in the bull pen. Since the beginning he was a calf that you know was going to be something special. Typically, we would steer a calf born with his color pattern. However, when you look past the different color you see a bull with a lot of desirable traits. Length of spine, depth of rib, deep heart and wide topped would be a few of these traits. The old 143Y mama, a diamond faced cow, has a knack for bringing a good calf home year after year.

Here is a bull that one would call a curve bender. Iron Ore was born to a large framed, deep bodied, good uddered cow at a respectable 80lbs. Turn the clock forward to weaning time in August and he grew into a large framed, long spined, deep ribbed calf with an 800lb weaning weight. It’s not often that you can find a bull that can increase frame and still maintain the calving ease aspect. Its easy to see that Iron Ore is going to calve well. As an added note Iron Ore’s dam has registered every calf to date with a son breeding at Granum Colony and three daughters working at Kulyk Simmentals, Blazing J and one here at home. Non-dilutor

This cherry red bull is an eye catcher. A smooth made stylish bull that is loaded with pigment, long thick hair and excellent muscle expression throughout. The Titanium/Magnum cross has really clicked well and complimented the strengths of two great breeding bulls. The intrigue of this bull rises when you dig into the pedigree and find the outcross Moses bull and Eagle-Ridge Unbelievable 1U. The dam of Blue Steel, Livia 528C, is an exciting young cow with a tremendous udder and a huge future ahead of her. The first Titanium daughters are calving this year with excellent udders and going to make tremendous cows. Non-diluter

Altar is another deep bodied Titanium son. As we have said before the Titanium offspring continue to impress us with their consistency. Whether it is in the bull pen or the replacement heifer pen the Titanium calves are dark red with good hair coats and are born with moderate birth weights. Forge has been one of those bulls that makes you excited to go do a pen check. Ever since he was born, he’s had the look. His sharp appearance can be accredited to his length of spine that carries down into his deep heart,

flank and ribs. With everything going right Forge came in at weaning as a heavy weight at an impressive 955lbs. This isn’t a big surprise as Forge’s dam, Ruby, is known for bringing a top end calf to the replacement pens every year. Non-dilutor Co-owned with DGR Cattle Company

A guy starts to feel like a broken record as I write the comments for these Titanium sons. Detector fits the stamp that Titanium leaves on his offspring by being long spined, dark red, and clean fronted. Along with these you will see his thick hair coat and smooth skull. Detector’s dam is a second calver that has a beautiful udder and one who we have high hopes for. She is backed by our Valor bull who was the high selling bull in his respective year. One of the younger bulls on offer but a calf that is full of potential. A flush mate to lots 4 and 5, you can see the strength in these genetics. A bit more birthweight than a typical Titanium, however his 2200 lb recip adds some extra pounds onto all of her calves at birth. Don’t expect him to do this. Born nearly a month later than most of the bulls, this soggy rascal still weighed over 800 lbs in the middle of August. A flushmate brother was a highlight and one of the heavyweights in last years sale going to Gary Katona at Caroline. Another cherry red heavily pigmented flush mate sister is ranked high in this years first calvers. Non-diluter

I have admired this calf since the time he was born. Eastwood is very proportionate in his make up with a wide flat top line and depth throughout his mid-section. Although lighter in color he is fully pigmented and is developing an excellent set of testicles. We are already seeing the of impact that Zeida is having as she now has progeny working in four different herds with Eastwood being the fifth. This shouldn’t be a surprise as both the top and bottom for her pedigree are maternal greats. Now add Dirty Harry to the mix to make it even stronger. Non-dilutor

A heavy haired, long spined, square hipped bull out of Dirty Harry. Clint has the optimal blend of calving ease and performance. Pol Fiona 17Z is a big framed Western Union 2nd daughter that has an excellent udder and production record. To date she has a son and a daughter working back in Quebec and two other daughters working at Anchor D Simmentals and Clearwater Simmentals here in Alberta. You can look forward to this guy leaving an outstanding set of daughters as well as those heavy steers in the fall.

This is a bull that is hard not to like. Whether it is his overall quality or extremely quiet nature, he is easy to notice. Maverick has been a real favorite amongst the family since he was born. It is very rare that I leave twin bull calves intact but when these two were born I had a feeling that they were to good to let go. Still to this day the are very similar in many aspects. These six bulls mark a first for us. This will be the first time we have offered a large number of siblings in the same sale. When we were looking to add a different twist on our lead black donor cow, Ms Tracker 49X, we were excited about the possibilities Loaded Up could bring. However, we would have never thought that outcome would have been this good. I would challenge you to try to pick out a favorite among these brothers. They are very consistent in that they are big hipped, deep ribbed, smooth fronted bulls that possess that little touch of style. The Combustible siblings are tried and tested. They have had brothers that were high sellers back in our 2017 bull sale and

sister that Ultra livestock choose as a high seller as a bred heifer. That heifer has now gone on to raise a heifer calf that was chosen to sell at Agribition and this year has their top heifer calf. Ms Tracker was the lead off and high selling female at the Kopp Farms dispersal sale. When we purchased her, we were looking to add a cow to the herd that would become a cornerstone for our black program. This well muscled, dark red, deep bodied heifer is sired by our eldest walking bull, Magnum. There have been very few opportunities to buy a Magnum female and as he gets closer to his retirement years these chances will only become harder to come by. A dark red, hairy, long spined Cobra daughter that will develop into a bigger framed female. Jess’s dam is a deep bodied, fleckvieh influenced cow that has a nice blaze and strong udder. The Cobra females have generated a lot of attention in past sales with many daughters selling to top end herds.

Essence is a long haired, attractive female that is sired by the performance bull MRL Red Whiskey. After seeing Red Whiskey’s first set of daughters, it was obvious that he needed to be apart of our AI program. Essense’s dam is a second calver that is a dark red female with a good udder and very strong feet. I would expect Essence to become a good honest cow.

Here is a heifer that has came right off the top of the black replacement heifers. She spent the summer as a member of the show pasture and probably shouldn’t be leaving. Unfortunately, May was weaned about two months earlier than the rest of her sisters as her mother was struck by lightening.
