Good Morning... Thismorning we come to amost important subject,

and one that each student mustwork out for themselves, the sub-ject is:“Dominion.”In the begin-ning, God gave us dominion, anunlimited dominion, dominion overeverything between the skies andthe bottom of the seas. Actually, dominiondoesn’twork that way atall! Dominion is always a domin-ion over our self. We never canhave dominion over each other, thedivorce rate proves how futile it isto try. The failure of the varioussocialistic movements, shows howimpossible it is. We never canhave dominion over each other, wenever can have dominion over“anything” or “anybody.” Butwhen the Bible says that “Godgave us dominion over everything,in the earth and above the earthand beneath the earth,”it meansexactly that. It means that we havedominion over our consciousness, and over everything within ourconsciousness. And since the en-tire universe exists within our con-sciousness, by having dominionover ourselves—weautomaticallyhave dominion over everything thatpertains to our lives.

But this dominion that wasgiven to us in the beginning, wehave completely lost: not partiallylost, but completely lost. We haveno dominion as “thehuman race”I’mspeaking: we have no domin-

ion over the weather, over the cli-mate, over foods, germs, storms. We should have, but we do nothave. And the reason is that: do-minion is something that we volun-tarily surrender for a temporarymoment of peace, it is exactly thatwhich happens in free countries. The man most responsible for thefreedoms that we have in theUnited States, one of the men towhom we owe the most, ThomasJefferson, said that “Democracymust in the end fail, that peoplewill lose theirfreedoms—theywillsurrender them,”and they have.Gradually, bit by bit, we let some-body or other come along and takeour freedoms from us, and alwaysthe reason is the same: a little tem-porary peace.

An illustration of it is, someonehas said that: “thepower to tax isthe power to enslave,”and ofcoursewe’dnever believethat—sowe’vegiven our governmental au-thorities the power to tax. And ofcourse “taxation”has really be-come... into the acquisition of ourproperties and freedoms. “Taxa-tion”has become such now that itis no longer taxation, it is really thetaking away of everything that anindividual can have above theirliving. This we surrendered, notnecessarily, but it was so easy justto say, “oh,it’sa war measure,”and there it was. Evidently peacestill hasn’t come, because they have-n’t changed the taxes.

And so it is, you could gothrough one phase of your own lifeafter another, and watch how youhave surrendered certain privileges, certain liberties. Even in home life,we do that same thing, that is, thehuman world does: if there’s onedominating member of a family, gradually all the others will surren-der a little here and a little there, until that one is running the wholenest.

Now... dominion is somethingthat is given to us by God—andtherefore, we always have it, it hasnever been taken away from us.The only thing that has been takenaway from us is “theexercise ofour dominion”.. . that we havesurrendered. The dominion we stillhave, and we can assertit—atanymoment that it seems importantenough to us. Not before, nobodyis going to assert their dominionbecause, it requires an effort. Andat this stage of experience a veryvigorous and continued effort, untilwe once more are in possession ofour dominion.

Now we do not want dominionover each other, let us immediatelyget all ideas out of our head—thatwhat we are seeking is dominionover someone else, or dominionover something else. The domin-ion that we are seeking, is “a do-minion over our own universe,”and that means dominion over ourown consciousness: what we acceptas true or false.

Let us take the subject of“weather” or “climate.” Now inthe present age as you know, thehuman race is subject to weatherand climate, and it is for this rea-son, that there are colds and grippeand flu, and many other germdiseases—allbecause we havegiven dominion to these. Now Ican prove to you in two minutes, that this is unnecessary. In the fieldof Evangelical healing, they tell usthat about 80 percent of the peoplewho come to the healers for heal-ing, have (I mean in England, thisis). . . have some form of rheuma-tism or arthritis. Now do you knowthat in the metaphysical fields, andI don’t care which one of ’emit is,in the metaphysical fields—lessthan 5 percent are suffering fromrheumatic and arthritic conditions. The reason is, that the very momentan individual comes to any of themetaphysical teachings, they beginto realize that: power doesn’texistoutside in matter; they begin torealize that power is in mind, orSpirit, or God, or consciousness. And, automatically without anyspecific treatment, without anys p e c i f i c t a k i n gthought—automaticallythey beginto fear weather and climate and age“less.”

You find over here, that youhear it over and over again“oh,I’mpast forty, I’m getting rheuma-tism.”You hear very little of thatin the metaphysical field, and al-most none of it in our field. Andwhen we do hear of it, it is mostlythe new beginner. After a while, itseems to disappear. And the rea-son, we don’thave any dominionover weather, we don’t have anydominion over climate, we don’thave any dominion over

germs—wehave dominion overour consciousness, and thereby weaccept our consciousness as beingpower, authority, and dominion:“allpower is given untome.”Andautomatically, we are withdrawingit from weather, climate, germs. And the first thing you know, weare freer of those conditions thanthe rest of the world.

Now remember, let no one tellyou that we have control over theweather. But, in our work in TheInfinite Way we have performedexperiments, where: tidal wavesand hurricanes have been predicted, and where they have been predictedto strike a certain place, a certaintime, and with certain force—andfive successive times, these havedissolved before they struck. Nowlet no one believe that we havedominion over tidal waves, or thatwe have dominion overstorms—wehave dominion overour consciousness. We do not“give”in our consciousness, we donot give power to anything exter-nal to ourselves. We acknowledgethat“allpower is given unto me.”I have been given God-givendominion—andtherefore, I do notacknowledge a power external tomyself. I acknowledge that allpower is embodied in the Kingdomof God that is within me.

Remember this, we are not get-tingegotistical—weare not sayingthat“Ihave any powers of my own,or any dominion of my own.” Weare saying that “we haveGod-given dominion, so that: if wehave God-given dominion, thestorm has none; if we haveGod-given dominion, the germ hasnone; if we have God-given domin-ion, the storm has none.” Nowagain, you come back to the basic

word of The Infinite Way, which isour sacred word and our secretword: “consciousness”.. . “con-sciousness.”If you understand thatGod is infinite divine Conscious-ness, and that this Consciousnessis your individual consciousness, for God has given us all that wehave: God has given us HIMSELF;God has breathed into us HIS life;God has given us HIS mind, HISconsciousness, HIS awareness, HISdominion. Therefore, if the King-dom of God is within me—theKingdom of Dominion is withinme.

Now Idon’twant any dominionover you, I want only dominionover me. I want the dominion toknow: that “nobody,” and “nothing,”and “nocircumstance,”and “no condition,”has dominionover me—because I haveGod-given dominion; and since theKingdom of God is withinme—thisdominion or power flows out fromme, and governs my universe.Don’tforget,I’mnot intruding intoyour universe, I’m not intrudinginto your life, I’m not intruding.I’mmaking no laws for you, I’mmaking no rules for you, nor am Itrying to take anything away fromyou. I am asserting “myGod-given dominion”over “myuniverse!”And that sets you free,to have “yourGod-given domin-ion”over “youruniverse.” Andthen you will find, that if each of us“assumes”our God-given domin-ion over our universe—we will allbe working together. We will needto take nothing from each other, but we can share with eachother—everythingthat we have oreverything in our twelve basketsfull that are always left over.

Page 3

But see what a relationship itmakes, if I know: that “Iand myFather are ONE, and all that theFather hath ismine”.. . now I havedominion over my supply. Do yousee why I don’t have to take awayanybody’ssupply? Do you seewhy I can leave everybody freewith their supply? Because“I andmy Father are ONE, and all that theFather hath ismine”.. . and now Ihave dominion over my supply.

Ah, but the moment I have do-minion over my supply, I have somuch that I love to share whateverit is I have, with those who have aneed of it. But then as each one,has that same dominion, they findthemselves also with twelve bas-kets full left over—and since wedon’tall have a supply of the samething, we all have something toshare with each other. We’re allsharing love, but that love takesdifferent forms.

So you see that, in the subject of“dominion,” it is never to be con-fused with“domination.”It is thesame way, when we come to suchmatters as“elections.”You knowactually, we have dominion overwhat kind of a government we willhave. But you can’t have that do-minion by going outside and decid-ing who you want to elect, and thenforcing their election, if you havethat power—for the simple reasonthat after [elec] they are electedthey may not prove to be the rightone. Politicians don’t always liveup to the promise of their cam-paigns.

But, if we will assert ourGod-given dominion, by realizing:Idon’twant any man togovern—Iwant to realize“God’sgovernmenton earth as it is in heaven,” I wantto realize “God’sdominion on

earth.”And cling to that, in yourdaily meditation period for “worldwork,”and “governmentwork,”“national work.” Hold to that,“thatyou are not choosing this can-didate or that, you are not deter-mining which one is going to dothe best, and so forth”.. . you aregoing to have God-government,you are going to realizeGod’sgov-ernment.

And then what happens, if youactually do hold to this, you willdiscover that those nearest repre-sentative of good government, willbe the ones elected. It may not beone entire party, but it can be thebest out of two parties or three par-ties, so that eventually—your fateisn’t in the hands of a party, andyour fateisn’tin the hands of cer-tain men. You continue to realize,“I must be God-governed, I recog-nize and realize onlyGod’sgovern-ment on earth, evenGod’sgovern-ment ofmen.”And then you willwitness not only a different type ofperson getting into government, butyou’llfind that those who get income more-or-less—under the gov-ernment of a wisdom higher thantheir own, even though at timesthey don’t know why.

This does not mean that youhave any dominion over them, andyoudon’twant any. Your domin-ion is over your own consciousnessof government, your own aware-ness of government, your ownchoice of government. And there-fore,you’renot choosing who shallgovernme—youare merely choos-ing how you shall be governed. And then, as a miracle will revealto you, eventually, no matterwho’selected—youwill find yourselffree, or at least more free of intol-erable conditions, than you have

ever been before. But remember, your dominion does not extend toanybody or anything external toyourself.

I may at this point say to you...“thatone of the great mistakesmade by the Hebrews, was in be-lieving that Jesus was going to betheir king.” Now, the Hebrewswere no different than we are, wealways want a king... a ruler. If wecould have it, we’dall prefer tohave a dictator, as humans... for thesame reason:it’sso easy to let“thefather inWashington”decide whatwe should have, rather than to thinkit through and vote intelligently.

And so it is that gradually, thegovernment in the United Stateshas been taken over by a littlegroup of men, and while the peoplethink they still have their freedomand theirvote—you’dbe surprisedhow little of their own way thatthey get. And the reason is, thatthey have surrendered, little bylittle, their jurisdiction, their do-minion—byjust letting somebodyelse think for them and act forthem.

Now, we do not have to go outand make the mistake of the He-brews, and believe that we want aking, or we are going out and en-force these few men to govern us,because we like them. Nor are wein our spiritual work going to set upany temporal kingdoms. No! “MYKingdom is not of thisworld,”andI am not seeking any jurisdictionover our government or your gov-ernment or any government in theworld. All I want is dominion overmy own consciousness to the ex-tent, that every day I want at leastone [mediteri] meditation period, ifit’sonly for three minutes, in whichto realize: “thank you Father, I am

Page 4: Joel S. Goldsmith - Dominion

Page 4

God-governed, God-maintained,God-sustained, and this is the spiri-tual Truth about everyone in ourland and on ourglobe.”In this wayI have dominion, and I assert myGod-given dominion over my in-visible world. And this always hasthe effect of operating in humanexperience for the universal good.

In the same way, why should wepermit anyone to determine theamount of our supply? Whyshould we allow a committee todecide how much we should earn? Why? Why, do they love us somuch that they want to give us somuch? Hardly, hardly.

Now you have dominion overyour supply, not by going out andfighting for it, not by unionizingand striking for it—this is not thesupply in the spiritual world, this isnot the way of supply in the spiri-tual world. Those are the humanweapons, that have been forged forhumans—whohave no knowledgeof spiritual power. But if you haveknowledge of spiritual power, youdon’thave to fight,“standyestill.”And then begin torealize: “God isthe source of my supply; God isinfinite, the source is infinite, theflow is infinite; I and my Fatherare ONE, all that the Father hath ismine; by inheritance I am heir ofGod, I am joint-heir to all of theheavenly riches.”

Do you not see I am assertingmy dominion, my God-given do-minion over supply? And yet, I’mnot trying to take any away fromyou, I’m not trying to take awayfrommy neighbor—I am assertingmy spiritual right, to the infinitesupply of God. Then I just watch itas it unfolds on the human plane, and eventually if I hold to this, maintain my spiritual domin-

ion—eventuallymy supply mustincrease, opportunities must in-crease. Something must increase tobring an increase, because it is“God’sWill”.. . that we haveabundance and that we have twelvebaskets left over to share with oth-ers.

Probably, we lose part of ourdominion, by thinking in terms of“yesterday’s manna,” or “yester-day’savenue ofsupply,”or“yester-day’slimitation of supply”. . . in-stead of taking each day as it co-mes, and realizing:“thisis the daythe Lord hath made, this is the dayin which I and my Father are ONE,this is the day in which all that theFather hath ismine”.. . and livingeach day in that consciousness. Then eventually watching how theflow begins to start in our direc-tion.

It is the same in business, in thehuman world, it is a highly compet-itive thing, this business thing. And for that reason, a business hasbecome to a great extent “dishon-est,”in its advertising, in its prod-ucts—thesethings never live up tothe full promisethat’smade. Andthe answer always is that “well, business, competition, it’sneces-sary.”Probably so on the humanplane, those are the human weap-ons that have been forged.

But not on the spiritual plane. On the spiritual plane where yourealize, “God’s government of busi-ness,” you’ll soon find, and busi-nessmen dofind—howtheir busi-ness changes, how it increases: notby running around to take some-bodyelse’saway fromthem—butby the normal expansion that mustcome to those who are spirituallyled.

If only you could see in our little

experience, how supply has beenincreased. Not merely for our-selves, we’vejust gotten a littleshare of it—buthow supply hasincreased through the tape record-ing work. Do you know that, justin our own little work, the taperecording work goes into thousandsand thousands of pounds a year. And, that the tape recording manu-facturers benefit by it, the workersin the tape recording field benefitby it, the tape makers benefit by it,the post offices benefit by it. If youcould know the thousands ofpounds that are spent each year forpostage, you would see how every-one benefits by—nottaking busi-ness from someone else, but creat-ing a new industry. And what hasresulted is, that there are now thou-sands of church groups makingtape recordings, and mailing ’emall over the world to eachother—justas we started when taperecorders were first brought out. Ithas opened up a whole new field ofearnings for people, without takingaway from anybody, their busi-ness—creating new business. So it is in every field... it isn’t

only that we have created amonthly Letter, that now has a de-partment in the States, and has adepartment here, and has a depart-ment in Germany—all creating newbusiness. But now I notice thatother metaphysical movements arehaving monthly letters.

And so it is that business in-creases by the creation of newideas. Well, of course the monthlyLetter idea was a new one, the tapething was a new one. And, do youthink that my Father hasn’t got amillion other new ideas? Ofcourse! God is infinite, and if wego back into consciousness, we will

Page 5: Joel S. Goldsmith - Dominion

Page 5

bring forth as many new ideas aswe need—without going aroundand taking away from somebodyelse’s already created business.

But, there comes the matter ofdominion. How do we come to thenew idea of a monthly Letter, orthe new idea of tape recordingscircling the globe? Through medi-tation, daily meditation. And even-tually, something comes forth fromwithin—and a new activity isstarted, and another activity comesforth, or another activity comesforth. So it is.

There are more new ideas inyour consciousness at this moment, that have ever been brought forth inthe thousands of years that menhave been on earth. All of ’em puttogether could not equal what youhave in undiscovered talents andideas within you. But, how are youto bring them forth? Only by aconscious effort, only as you as-sume dominion, and sit down eachday and realize: “Godconstitutesmyconsciousness, infinity is withinmy consciousness, and I must openout a way for the imprisoned splen-dor to escape.” I don’t knowwhatday the lightning will strike, Idon’tknow what day you’ll bring forthsome new idea in teaching, or somenew idea in mechanics, or somenew idea in discovery or science, orreligion. But one thing is certain, itwould be impossible for you toturn into your consciousness, everyday for ayear—andnot find some-thing new flowing out from it. Itwould be utterly impossible! Be-cause, God constitutes your con-sciousness, your consciousness isinfinite.

But unless you assume domin-ion over your time, and take threeor four or five minutes a day, to go

into your consciousness and let itflow: “speakLord Thy servantheareth, speak Lord Thy servantheareth.”Only a few minutes eachday, and I can assure you a yearcould notpass—withoutsome newidea unfolding, some new wayopening up, some new supply man-ifesting in your experience. It hasto be—from the infinite nature ofyour own consciousness. Now remember, it doesn’t do

you any good to say “Godis infi-nite.” It is only whenyou come tothe realization that the infinity ofGod is embodied in you:“Sonthouart always with ME, and all that Ihave isthine;”or,“Ihave meat theworld knows notof”.. . I have newideas in me, I have new sources ofsupply in me, I have new dominionin me, new Grace in me. Each daythe manna must fall fresh: I do nothave to relyon yesterday’s manna,I do not have to rely onyesterday’sway of earning a living, I do nothave to rely on yesterday’sany-thing. Every moment of every dayis fresh, and every moment of everyday contains God. Ahh but yousee, if we do not “consciouslyturn”in that direction, it is of noavail to us. If we do not assert ourdominion... we will not have it.

It is the same way in our homes, ashumans—wecould all be dissat-isfied with our homes, with ourmates, with our children, with ourparents. Certainly human faults areabundant. And eventually, wecould let all of these have enoughdominion over us to make our livesmiserable. But if we want domin-ion, over our own peace, we mustassert that, by going within andrealizing: God Government in myhome, God’sLove in my family. Not my love, not human love, not

mywife’slove, not my children’slove. They may have it, they maynot haveit—butIcan’tbe bound orlimited by whether or not theyhave. I must go within and be surethat I have God’sLove! When Iam sure that I have God’sLove, every member of my family is aninstrument through which God’sLove flows—and I am the instru-ment through which God’sLoveflows to them.

Then they don’thave to bebound by whether my nature isgood or bad, or my generosity islittle or big. They are governed byGod’sGrace, not my goodwill; andI am governed byGod’sGrace, andnot by [anyone] what anyone wantsto give me or withhold from me.But if I do not [assume] assert thatdominion, and subject myself toGod’sLove, andGod’sGrace—I’llhave nothing but human love andhuman grace, and sometimes thatwill not be sufficient. Because thatis the history of the human race: itloves to get, it hates to give. It’sonly as natures become“spiritual-ized,”that we think less of gettingand more of giving. But how doesa nature become spiritualized? Byhaving God-dominion andGod-Grace and God-Love. Notcomplaining about somebody’slack of human love, but by accept-ing God’s Love.

But this is all an act of con-sciousness. We must assume do-minion over what we accept orreject in consciousness. And, byassuming God’s Government,God’sGrace, God’sLove, God’sinfinity of supply—we free our-selves of man-made conditions, inthe home, in the community, in thenation, and ultimately in the world. But always remember, God’sdo-

Page 6: Joel S. Goldsmith - Dominion

Page 6

minion.When Jesus said,“Ihave over-

come theworld”.. . do you knowhe hadn’tat all? He hadn’t over-come Rome, he hadn’t overcomethe Sanhedrin, hehadn’tovercomejealousies outside in the world, hehadn’t overcome persecution. Then what did he mean? He meanthe had overcome “his world,” theworld withinhim—sothat he wasno longer subject. If Rome wantedto be Rome let them be Rome, ifthe Sanhedrin wanted to be San-hedrin let it be, if people wanted topersecute let them—hewas freeand independent of all of it. Andonly at that last moment, when hewanted to submit to it—did hesubmit himself to it. Up till thatmoment he could walk through thecrowds invisibly—he could doanything he wanted because, hewas not subject to the externalworld. And only when he’d chooseto be, when he felt that that was hismission—onlythen did he yieldhimself up, submit himself to arrestand execution.

Butdon’tthink it was necessary. No, itwasn’tnecessary. That washis own idea, and it was his innerconviction that “thatwas right forhim todo.”And because it was, itmade it right for him to do. But,always remember “he had over-come theworld,”he had overcomethe world to such an extent, that:they couldn’t persecute him, theycouldn’tcatch him, they couldn’tmove in on him, theycouldn’tdo athing, theycouldn’tstop his eating, his infinity of supply, theycouldn’tstop his healing work. No! He hadovercome the world, by overcom-ing“self.” Andthat means he hadallowed God to have full dominionin his consciousness. But you can

only do this, by an act of your ownconsciousness, and it really won’tdo to do it just once, today—andthen believe from now on you’reGod-governed. No! The hypno-tism of the world is so strong, thatif you do not constantly assert yourGod-government, and the infinityof your supply, and your ONENESSwith God—thatpretty soon theworld comes along and does youout of it.

But if, you persist for a periodlike a year, in having a specificperiod of meditation each day, inwhich you realize:“the Kingdom ofGod is within me; all that the Fa-ther hath is mine; God has givenme dominion over the sea, the air,the sky, all that is in the earth;nothing shall have any power overme, but God-given dominion flowsout from me; there is no powerexternal to me, to operate in me oron me or through me—for I andmy Father are ONE, and that ONE-NESS gives me God-power over allof these universal beliefs.”

Well you see, you have nowexercised the God-given dominionthat you’ve always had. If youpersist in this for a year, you willfind that it has become so auto-matic, that you probablydon’thaveto sit down every day for thisperiod—butyou’d be surprisedhow every single day somethingout here, will force you to remem-ber it. And you’ll always be con-sciously remembering: “dominionis not external to me, dominion isof the Kingdom of God that iswithin me.”

Then, you have dominion, tothe extent that the weather doesn’tbother you, the climate doesn’tbother you. It doesn’t mean thatyou look at a bad day and call it

good—itjust means that the badday can go on being a bad day, without having any bad influenceupon you; it doesn’tmean that athousand will not fall at your left orten thousand at your right withgerms or infection orcontagion—itjust means that you have suchGod-given dominion within you, that none of these things havedominion over you.“Time” and “the calendar.”Do

you realize what slaves the humanrace, what they all are, what slavesto the calendar? They get to be 16and they start to get intolerable tolive with; they get to be 21 that’sthe age when they know it all; andthen all the other ages until thebody starts to disintegrate. Why?The calendar says so! Well whereis our God-given dominion over acalendar?

Well we have it, but wehaven’t“exercised”it, andthat’sthe word.If you want to go through life andmaintain your body in some degreeof health and harmony, facul-ties—youmay not achieve the fullhundred percent of spiritual perfec-tion, let’sbe satisfied if we do alittle less than a hundred percent. The point is, that we must havedominion, we must recognize“thatGod is the same today as when wewere 30,”and if God is the sametoday: God’sgovernment is thesame today, over spirit, soul, mind, and body. “Your body is the tem-ple of the living God,”and Godgoverns it: but not if you surrenderdominion to a calendar, not if yousurrender dominion to time, not ifyou surrender dominion to climateor weather. Heavens no!

All of these losses of freedom, have come about because we’ve

Page 7: Joel S. Goldsmith - Dominion

Page 7

surrendered them. Not because wehaven’t dominion—but because wehaven’texercised dominion; notbecause we should have dominionover anything external to us—butwe must have dominion over whatwe accept in our consciousness.Do we accept in our consciousness,“twopowers”or“onepower?”Dowe accept in our consciousness “apower external tous”or,“allpoweras being within us?” We are theones determining this, God gave usthisdominion—itcan only be keptby exercising it. (pause)

We are really living in a worldof “withinness”. . . we are notfighting elements outside of us, weare not fighting principalities orpowers. Think of that now, andremember it, we are not fightingprincipalities or powers, we are notfighting persons or conditions ex-ternal toourselves—theonly fightthat we have is to awaken ourselvesto exercise our God-given domin-ion over our own consciousness. Then, we can accept everything inthe external world “asan appear-ance,”and learn how to handle it.And of course the main way ofhandling it, is recognizing that nopower exists external to our con-sciousness, all power is given untome, God-given dominion: overevery concept—whetheror not Iaccept it; over every universalbelief—whether or not I accept it.You see the human race, doesn’thave this power because it knowsnothing about it. It is not beingtaught its God-given dominion andhow to exercise it—therefore itsuffers through ignorance of itsown rights, it suffers through igno-rance of its own powers.

You can understand how thiscomes about... everything that be-

comes organized has to have aboss, and that boss sooner or latertells you what to think, and how tothink, and how much to think, evenwhat to read. And as you surrenderyour liberties, you surrender yourfreedoms, the first thing youknow—you getto looking outsidefor everybody to tell you what youshould do. You begin telling yourchildren what to do, and they endup telling you. “As ye sow, soshall yereap”.. . all [doe] the do-minion we take over others eventu-ally comes back to have dominionover us. But... when we are satis-fied to exercise our dominion overourselves, then we are comingunderGod’sGrace, and we live notby the will of man, but by theGrace of God...

See how this involves meetingevery temptation that appears outhere, to surrender power: to infec-tion, to contagion, to weather, toclimate, topersons—howwe haveto resist the temptation to fightthem. “Resist not evil” is the law,“resistnot evil,”just turn withinand realize: “thatevil appearanceout there is not a power—whetherthat evil appearance is a person ora tiny germ; the evil appearance isnot a power—all power is givenunto me.” And it’s not a powerover anything:it’sa power to knowthe Truth, it’s a power to receiveGod’sGrace, it is a power to re-ceiveGod’sLove, it is a power toexpress God’sGrace, to expressGod’s Love, to give God’s Love.

Really, we are under God’sGrace more when we are givingthan when we are receiving, be-cause it is always the evidence thatwe ourselves know that “I havemeat the world knows not of, I havemeat.” That one statement of

Scripture is enough to change yourlife, because the human mind is sobusy“knowingwhat itlacks.”Andof course it demonstrates youknow, what it“has”.. . and when ithas “lacks” that’s what it demon-strates, “lacks.” The more youknow you lack, the more you dem-onstrate of lack.

But in proportion as you canrealize: “Ihave meat the worldknows not of”.. . I have meat, Ihave this inner Grace, I have theSpirit of God indwelling in me, Ihave the Presence of the Christ inme; “I am the meat”. . . I embodymeat, wine, water, I include withinmyself the resurrection... Why?Because Christ the Son of God,dwells in me. And this Christ orSon of God or Spirit of God, IT’Sfunction is to heal the sick, raisethe dead, feed the hungry, forgivethe sinner, resurrect thebody—thatis the function of this “I”that iswithin me, this “Identity,” this“ChristSelf,”that is its function. The Son of God was sent to earth, ordained to heal the sick, forgivethe sinner, raise the dead, resurrectthe body. That is the function, notof a man who lived 2,000 yearsago, that is a function of “TheChrist”. . . that this man 2,000years ago manifested, and said thatwe should do. “Greater worksshall ye do.” Why? “I” TheChrist, will never leave thee norforsake thee;“I” TheChrist, havebeen with thee since before Abra-ham was; “I”The Christ, will bewith thee unto the end of the world;and...“I”The Christ am with you, that ye might have life, and that yemight have life more abundant.

Then all we have to do to exer-cise dominion, is to constantly, consciously, realize this indwelling

Christ, whose name is “I”withinme. Recognize it, realize its na-ture, realize its function there, real-ize why it was incarnated in us.“Iin Thou and Thou in me”. . .realize why this Christ is incarnatedin us, and then exercise it everysingle day of yourlife. You won’tdo it without exercising it, you loseit just like you lose your franchiseof citizenship, if youdon’texerciseit. Something’ll come alongsomebody’llcome along, and takeit away from you. Only, in the caseof dominion, nobody will ever takeyour dominion away fromyou—you’lljust cheat yourself ofthe joy and the benefit of exercisingit. It will always be with you, be-cause it is spiritually promised tous: “Iwill never leave you, I willbe with you to the end of the world;I am come in you, that you mighthave life, and that you might haveit more abundantly.”

It is up to you to exercise this, work with it, think with it, live withit—justa brief period out of each24 hours. And then find thatyou’renot sitting back supinelylike this, waiting for the world todo something to you, you are out inthe world, and your God-givendominion is doing it throughyou—andeverybody in the worldknows it, and they soon see thatthey can’tstep on your toes. There’s a flash in your eyes thatlets’emknow how far they can go,and no further. Why? BecauseGod and God’sGrace shines outthrough your eyes. It’s evident thatyou don’t want what anyone elsehas got,it’sevident thatyou’renotplotting and scheming to take awayfrom anybodyelse—thatallyou’redoing is “being mighty sure thatmandoesn’tgovern you, only God

governs you.” (pause)Do you see why“meditation”is

the major activity of an InfiniteWay student? Do you see whythese thoughts can’tcome to you, while you’reout bustling in thehurly-burly of the world? Untilyou’vehad a sufficiently long timeto dwell in meditation, I don’tmean long periods of meditationbut I mean a period like a year ortwo, to get used to the fact thatyour wisdom comes from withinyou, from within your own con-sciousness—to where you arelearning to draw it up from withinyourself. Then you’ll find that inyour meditations, everyDivine ideanecessary for you to have willcome forth. You can’t get it out ofthe world, and I’lltell you why:everything that’sout in the worldbelongs to somebody, and you’lleither be struggling to take it awayfrom them, or praying to God todeliver it to you.

Now that’snot the way. Theway is to discover that God consti-tutes your individual being, God isyour life, God is your mind. Nowget inside of your mind, and drawforth its treasures:“openout a wayfor the imprisoned splendor to es-cape.”But do it first by realizing“theKingdom of God is withinyou”.. . and whatever of good is tocome into my life, must well upfrom within me. And it must giveme Divine ideas, new ideas, it mustgive me strength, it must “go be-fore me to make the crooked placesstraight.”Always let this impris-oned splendor escape, instead oflooking out here and expecting it tocome from “manwhose breath isin his nostril.” Even if it’s yourwife, or your husband, or yourchild, or your parent, what’sthe

use, let them have whatthey’vegotand what they can demon-strate—you go within.

Everyone has the Kingdom, thefullness of the Kingdom, indwell-ing—bringit forth, bring it forth.God gave you dominion in the be-ginning: God gave you HIS Mind,HIS Life, HIS Soul, HIS Spirit, eventhe substance of HIS body is yourbody. You by exercising domin-ion, bring it forth from within you.(pause)

Above all, you are not seeking atemporal kingdom, you are notseeking a temporal power—justGod’s Grace, God’s Grace. Youdon’teven have to think of it as theword “power,”because this issometimes misleading, and theminute we think of“God’sPower”.. . we think in some terms of“tem-poral power.” It’s much easier tothink of it as“God’sGrace,”ratherthan“God’sPower.” God’s Grace,God’sLove—we want to live byGrace, we want to live by Love.“Notby might, not by power, byGod’sGrace, by God’s Love”. . .all of which is embodied withinme. It does not come to you, itflows out fromyou—through yourrecognition of it, through your ex-ercise of this dominion. (longpause)

And now, you can understandfrom this, what the Master meantwhen he said “MY Peace give Iunto you, not as the worldgiveth”.. . “MY Peace.” Now this “MYPeace” is already established withinyou, it has been given to us“inthebeginning before Abraham was.”It isn’tsomething you’re going toget today, itisn’tsomethingyou’regonna get tomorrow, itisn’tsome-thingyou’regonna get with readingso many pages of a book. . . “MY

Page 9: Joel S. Goldsmith - Dominion

Page 9

Peace”is established in you from“before the world began.” Whatyou’regoing to do is recognize thatthe Master said“MY Peace is givenunto you.” And again, goingwithin realize it:“TheChrist Peaceis established within me, I do notknow what form it assumes in theworld, because it isn’t the kind ofpeace the world can give.” Buteach day let us retire within for oneminute, to realize:“ChristPeace isestablished within me, and flowsforth from me.”

And then discover, that it isliterally true: this Christ Peace forwhich the world is waiting—isalready here; this Christ Kingdomfor which so many people in theworld are waiting—it’sall estab-lished right here, within you;“theKingdom of God is withinyou—open out a way for this im-prisoned splendor to escape.”

And meditation is the means, going within each day, even if it’sone minute, two minutes at a time,10 seconds at a time, but repeating

it, 20, 30, 40 times through the day,so that you can really say at night:“Ihave prayed without ceasing, Ihave kept my mind stayed onTruth.” And then find how, youbecome God-governed throughthat. But it’s all a question of“you,”and “your activity in con-sciousness.”

Thank you, thank you, we oughtto really play marbles this after-noon, or bring knitting or some-thing.
