JOB PURPOSE AND MAIN AIMS To participate in the supervision of wet and dry activities and assist in the provision of a quality service to the customer as well as to ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the Centre. 2. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES a) To undertake general supervision of customers and their activities, ensuring that all centre rules are observed and to take action where appropriate. b) To ensure the Health and Safety procedures are observed throughout the centre and report any risks, serious incidents and injuries to staff or customers to the Assistant Manager. c) To follow the Normal Operating Procedures and carry out any action as detailed in the Emergency Action Plan. d) To carry out first aid as necessary. e) To undertake cleaning duties and set up and dismantle equipment as g) To report abnormal pool conditions to the Assistant Manager on duty, i.e. colour and clarity of water, odour etc. h) To assist customers and ensure customers enjoy a quality experience while at the centre. i) Undertake coaching, instruction as required. And any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management. Duties may change over time and you will be expected to co-operate where such changes are reasonable. 3. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE (SELECTION CRITERIA) Essential Criteria a) RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or equivalent or the ability to achieve within the first 6 months of employment. b) NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or the ability to achieve within the first 12 months of employment. c) Current First Aid Certificate or the ability to achieve within the first 6 months of employment. d) Awareness of current Health and Safety legislation. e) Excellent customer care skills. f) Experience of working in a customer focused environment. g) Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork. h) Good verbal communication skills. Desirable Criteria a) Relevant coaching qualifications. b) Good written communication skills. c) Knowledge of business IT applications (e.g. word processing/spreadsheets). 4. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND/OR STRAIN a) Will be required to aid with the setting up of sports equipment which may involve some manual handling. b) May be required to take deliveries, which may involve some manual handling. 5. 1. JOB PURPOSE AND MAIN AIMS

e) To undertake cleaning duties and set up and dismantle equipment as required.

f) To life guard the pool in accordance with the rota arrangements when on poolside. To carry out rescues and life saving techniques as necessary.

g) To report abnormal pool conditions to the Assistant Manager on duty, i.e. colour and clarity of water, odour etc.

h) To assist customers and ensure customers enjoy a quality experience while at the centre.

i) Undertake coaching, instruction as required.

And any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management. Duties may change over time and you will be expected to co-operate where such changes are reasonable.

4. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND/OR STRAIN

a) Will be required to aid with the setting up of sports equipment which may involve some manual handling. b) May be required to take deliveries, which may involve some manual handling.

5. SPECIAL NOTES OR CONDITIONS

a) The post holder will be required to work on a shift basis, working week days, evenings and weekends.

b) The post holder will be required to wear a uniform at all times whilst on duty.

c) The post holder may be required to provide cover for colleagues from time to time.

d) The post holder will be required to undergo regular training.

e) The post holder may be required to work at any of the Leisure centres.
