SPECIAL CONDITIONS“Family friendly” working hours will be negotiated but some out of hours work may be required occasionally May be required to travel to any sites operated by RSL Care SA.

SUMMARY OF ROLEThe key aspects of this position are to provide sound strategic human resource management (HRM) advice to the CEO and the Chief Operating Group (COG – the executive management team) and operational advice to managers, supervisors and staff as part of the objective of RSL Care SA being regarded an employer of choice. The role includes establishing robust HRM systems and processes that support maintaining a skilled workforce that is appropriately motivated and in sufficient numbers to provide high quality of care in a safe operating environment to meet current and future business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Contribute to RSL Care SA becoming an employer of choice by -a. Providing strategic HRM advice to CEO and the leadership team (COG).b. Establishing robust HRM systems and processes particularly in areas of recruiting, selection,

contracting, induction and professional development.c. Assisting managers and supervisors to effectively fulfil their people management

responsibilities by providing sound and proactive HRM advice.d. Review and advise on HRM policy framework.e. Contributing to change management activities that foster a positive organisational culture.f. Monitoring and seeking feedback on staff expectations and concerns.g. Ensure a robust framework for HR record keeping and processes.

2. Provide industrial relations advice and/or assist in obtaining the required advice from external expert sources.

3. Assist Professional development activities by a. Reviewing and modifying induction and in service training programs so that they meet the

needs of the organisation.b. Identifying sources of relevant training packages for the professional development of

supervisors and managers.

4. Assist in the negotiation of enterprise bargaining agreements (EBA’s).

5. Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment and provide advice on management of workplace injury claims should they occur and/or obtaining the required advice from external expert sources

6. Other. Undertake any other duties as directed by the Manager, Finance and Administration.

3. Participate in the Performance Development Review Process. This includes - a regular review of their performance against the responsibilities and performance objectives

associated with the role. demonstration of appropriate behaviours which reflect a commitment to RSL Care SA’s values

and strategic directions.4. Perform their responsibilities in a manner which reflects and responds to continuous improvement

and ensures compliance with legislative requirements.5. Read, understand and comply with all RSL Care SA’s policies and procedures.6. Participate in professional development activities.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONQualifications:

Tertiary qualification in human resource, business management or a related field is highly desirable.

Federal Police Check clearance satisfactory for aged care. Current driver’s licence.

Experience: Significant human resource management experience in a medium size organisation. Application of a systems based approach to workforce management including -

Formulation and application of Policy. Recruitment and selection. Contracting. Training and development.

Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution in the work place. Experience in the aged or health care sectors would be highly regarded. Experience in implementing practice change.

Knowledge: Contemporary understanding of workforce management principles – in theory and practice. Familiarity with common industrial relations practices and how to source additional technical

guidance when needed. Familiarity with workplace safety regulatory obligations. Understanding of Aged Care sector and the federal reforms underway would be a highly

regarded.

Skills, abilities and attributes: A positive personality that relates well to others. Sound interpersonal skills consistent with the values of the organisation. A commitment to a participative approach to management. Self-drive, initiative and a “how can this be better” approach. Team player. Analytical problem solving skills. Able to operate with limited supervision but with sound judgement about when others need

to be aware of a situation. Proactive. Ability to influence outcomes through sound verbal and written communication skills and

negotiating skills. Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines. Computer literacy and experience in Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook and Excel),

human resource / payroll systems or packages.
