Duties include but are not limited to data entry, transcription, uploading, and police and court information maintenance. Shifting is based on a seven day per week rotation including a rotating evening/nightshift or as otherwise required by the Police Service. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the Information Processing Section Coordinator. Regularly interacts, communicates and provides support to Police Service personnel and various internal and external criminal justice participants. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES: Accurately inputs, queries, transcribes, uploads, updates, and maintains police information and reports within the Police Records Management System (RMS) and central filing system, Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Justice Online Information Network (JOIN), Motor Vehicle system (MOVES) Image Retrieval System (OPAL). Processes court disclosure packages and electronically releases all required documentation. Compiles criminal charges and related court dispositions pertaining to fingerprints for submission to Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services. Enters and maintains data related to the Canadian Criminal Justice Statistics processes and reports in accordance to the Uniform Crime Reporting Statistics guideline. Enters Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) Accused Records into CPIC, creating records accessed by all Police Agencies. Responds to inquiries and provides assistance and information to police personnel, 9-1-1 Communications, external justice participants and the general public, as required. Reviews and maintains IPS Procedure Manual. Perform other related duties as required or assigned. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Working knowledge in the use of Windows based office software applications, e-mail, Internet applications, and common office equipment.

• Thorough working knowledge and proficient use of unique Police related computer systems includingVERSATERM, RMS, Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Justice Online Information Network(JOIN), Motor Vehicle system (MOVES), Image Retrieval System (OPAL), and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and with a high degree of accuracy with interruptions whichmay require refocusing of priorities.

The capacity to work independently, under the direction of others, or within a team setting.

Ability to train and provide direction to new employees and peers.

• Ability to positively and courteously communicate and interact with all divisions of Medicine Hat PoliceService, Provincial Crown and Federal Prosecutors, other City Departments, outside police agencies,Provincial and Federal Government departments and the general public.

Ability to work with minimum supervision and make decisions independently, using proper judgementand procedures with the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.

Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Excellent keyboarding skills.

Familiar with Police standards, practices and terminology.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of a one (1) year office technology or business administration program.

Two (2) years administrative office experience, preferably with related legal knowledge.

Possess current certification for Standard First Aid/CPR and AED or ability to obtain.

Must pass a full Police Service security clearance as outlined in the Medicine Hat Police ServicePolicy and Procedures, including a polygraph examination.

An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
