Visiting classrooms this week I’ve seen many examples of wonderful learning– great poems, expressive reading, interesting investigations, science experiments, history focussed educational research projects, children solving mathematical problems and so much more. We have a great group of busy and engaged learners in every classroom thanks to the dedicated work of our teachers and the positive support of our parents who help make sure their children are ready to learn each day. We now have some idea about when our African Mahoganies will be removed. The arborist will be here some time during the school holidays. We have it on good authority that the brahminy kites have finished using their nest so it is now safe to remove the trees without harming the birds. Children in 1/2 Devriadis and 1/2 Morgan will be studying the changes to our school environment with the forthcoming removal of the mahoganies. They have been drawing and photographing them and I know they are going to be making some plans for what we can do with the area after they have been removed. I look forward to seeing their ideas. Parents using the Drop off zone in the mornings and afternoons please remember it is not a place to park your car and leave it. If you use the drop off zone please stay with your car and edge forward as the space in front of you becomes vacant. If you need to park and leave your car please use the car park. We need to make our school a safe place for everyone. Next week Mrs Armstrong will be taking some well deserved long service leave until October 24th. Mrs Gilbert will be our acting Assistant Principal while she is away and Mrs Grills will step up to the position of Senior Teacher. Mrs Baldock is due back on Tuesday and Mrs Mellett will take over some of Mrs Gilberts duties. Don’t forget we have the Bell Shakespeare company visiting our school on Monday afternoon. If you wish for your child to attend please send $9 by tomorrow. Please help us with future planning by completing the slip at the end of this newsletter letting us know if you will be leaving Jingili at the end of 2014 or whether you know of any families who will be coming to our school. We are expecting an increase in our numbers next year so we would really appreciate being informed of any movement in and out of the school. Finally, our thoughts and prayers are with the Kostopoulas family this week as Panayiotis from year 1/2 Morgan is very unwell and has been flown to Adelaide for some emergency surgery. We wish Panayiotis and his family all the very best and hope that he makes a speedy recovery. Kind Regards Carin Symonds (Principal)

Well done to all our fabulous Preschoolers for their fantastic performance at last week’s Asssembly – we are very proud of you!

Our first CARES session is next Friday 26th September after Assembly. We will be meeting our Big

Buddies at Preschool and enjoying Investigations together. Information about your child’s Big Buddy was sent home with your child last week. Please see Tara or Kellie if you have any queries or concerns. We understand that sometimes parents may be late collecting their child from Preschool. However, it can be distressing for the child/ren and is also difficult for staff when we have another Preschool session to prepare for or meetings to attend. Please make every effort to be punctual when collecting your child and phone us on 89853495 if you are delayed. Please also ensure that friends and family are aware of Preschool finishing times if they are collecting your child (11.15am and 3.00pm). Thank you. The Preschool wading pool is gaining popularity as the weather gets warmer, so please remember to pack swimmers, a rash vest, towel and plastic bag every Wednesday and Thursday so your child can participate. A reminder that orders from the educational toy catalogues need to be returned to Preschool on or before Monday 22

nd September. Thank you for your support. Additional catalogues are available from

Preschool, and parents from the wider school community are also welcome to place orders through Preschool. Have a lovely week, The Preschool Team
