The View Point

Today, the Business climate in India is shaped

by its history, and operating in that climate requires an understanding of the principles and values emerging from our history. India is a land of great leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi who played an indispensable role in changing the perspective of world towards India. The far-sightedness and pragmatic characteristics of the leaders can be assumed from the fact that they framed the Constitution of India by inducting the best possible clauses of the world. It is important that our students, the future managers must deconstruct the development and rise of the modern Indian business model completely enough to glean several important lessons.

And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and

their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts”

He connected the thought with students by saying “become a

successful individual before you become a successful professional”, to

attain success, you need to understand the complexities of different

Guest Lecture on Right “Presentation Skills”To educate on the DO’s and DON’T’s at the

Presentation, a Guest Lecture on “Right

Presentation Skills” was organized on 12th

February, 2013 at JIMS for MCA IInd Year

students.The guest speaker was Ms.Rita

Gangwani.

She started the session with the famous

statement “First Impression is the last

impression.” She added, a presentation

should always be a mix of oral multimedia

- audio, visual. Keeping in mind, that the

audience only uses 3 senses out of 5 while

listening viz VISION, HEARING & FEELING

so presentation should be a mix of pictures,

graphics and animations (for those listeners

who are influenced by looks and appearances),

voice modulations with pauses and tones

interesting facts and quotations (for those

listeners who are influenced by listening),

humorous and engaging stories, live instances

(for those listeners who are influenced by

feelings and emotions)”.

She concluded the session by summarizing

that every speaker should use BOMBERG

approach -

Bang (start with any famous quotation or

question or story),

Open (briefly Introduce topic of your

presentation)

Mapping (Map your PPT - Divide it into

categories, sub categories), Bridge (connect

all the categories like a story),

Example (make your PPT interesting through

examples and illustrations), Recap(give a

quick recap to the audience ),

Bang (Close your presentation with a bang)

to deliver the apt presentation, as there is no

thumb rule to give the presentation, like most

things, it simply takes a little preparation and

practice.

These statements made an impactful mark on

the students and realize the concept of right

presentation skills.

The Union Budget was a clever attempt to misleadthepublicinanelectionyear.TheFinanceMinister’s speech offered little remedy for the key problems facing the Indian economy thathe himself acknowledged: slowdown of growth, rising fiscal deficit and current account deficit. The current crisis required the government to stimulate domestic investment by encouragingconsumption; instead the FM remained focusedon foreign investors. Controlling inflation required expansion of PDS and reinforced subsidies on energy and focus on increasingagricultural output in pulses and oilseeds; instead the government has relied on hope. Meeting the demands and aspirations of the people required substantial and real increase in socialsector expenditure; instead the government has resorted to statistical tricks and gimmicks. There is no evidence of the government being seriousaboutbetterusageandmonitoringofthefundsspentonthesepublicprovisions.

The exercise done by the FM and his aides is

nothing but a game of chess. The public does

not remember the moves made earlier by the

chess player ala government. The FM keeps

tinkering with the figures year after year to

Whether justified or not, Union Budgets have

always generated excitement in India. This time

around though, the excitement was more than

usual and for two reasons. Firs

t, it was to be

presented by aman with a reput

was to be the

last budget before the next ge

And thus people were keen to know how
