PROVIDER LEVEL KNOWLEDGE •  Mindfulness training reduces thalamic

activation and may provide a limbic gating mechanism for changes in the intensity and suffering associated with pain.1

•  Further, there is evidence that analgesia produced by mindfulness is NOT mediated by endogenous opioids.2
