A Message from the Board President andExecutive DirectorJobStart has operated for 33 years and enjoys the privilege of providing a range of employment,training and settlement services from our three locations.

Our services include:

• Employment Accessibility for Students• Employment Ontario - Dufferin & Lake Shore

• Job Search Workshop

• Summer Jobs Service• The Mentoring Partnership

• Toronto West Local Immigration Partnership

• Workplace Employment Placement Services

• Youth in Demand

This year we submitted several funding proposals for new programs with the goal to enhanceour employment, training and settlement services to our community. We are delighted to reportJobStart was awarded two new contracts this year.

V "Youth in Demand (YD)" is an employment program for youth between the ages of 15-30who face barriers to employment. The program, launched on March 4, 2013 at our Lake Shoresite, is funded in part by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy. Youth inDemand aims to assist youth in West Toronto who face challenges accessing the labour force,to find work in the high demand sectors of Automotive Repair and Maintenance, Constructionor Retail or return to school to complete their high school education

V "Newcomer Settlement Program (MP)" funding awarded March 2013 by the Ministry ofCitizenship and Immigration will enable JobStart to provide Newcomer Settlement Servicesin south Etobicoke beginning April 2013. The program will have a significant positive impacton the lives of newcomers; facilitating access to language, training, health care, housing,education, employment and other community services and providing them with the toolsand resources needed to build a strong Ontario.

An exciting initiative this year was the creation of our new Human Resources Department. HRservices are designed to support the success ofJobStart is key resource—our employees.

The TWLIP is focussed onsupporting the furl integration of immigrants into the fiber of the Toronto West community,through the collaboration of local community service providers,. residents, organizations,newcomers and employers. In 2012/13, the TWLIP developed and submitted to Citizenshipand Immigration Canada a comprehensive sustainable three year Action Plan for immigrantintegration. This plan for the support of immigrants in Toronto West is to be implementedin 2013/14 and waspredicated on the members' shared principle that immigrants addtremendous value to the local cormunity and are critical to the success of Canada,

The Mentoring Partnership (IMP) brings together recent skilled immigrants and establishedprofessionals in occupation-specific mentoring relationships. This program is delivered incollaboration with community partners, the Consortium of Agencies Serving Internationally-trained Persons (CASIP), and the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC).Mentors have a combination of knowledge and business experience to bring wisdom andone-to-one guidance in the learning process. Mentors share insights on Canadian work valuesand culture,provide access to professional networks, feedback on preparing for interviews,and impart knowledge of industry trends with their mentees who are recent skilledimmigrants from Toronto, Peel and York region.

Employment Accessibility for Students (EASE provides employment opportunities for post secondary students andgraduates, 16 years of age or older, with verifiable disabilities. The program helps reduce disability related barriers toemployment and assists clients to reach their competitive employment goal by obtaining either part time or full timeemployment through job search support, job matching, placement and job retention. Students are provided one on onecoaching support to learn to market themselves more effectively, and secure interviews that could lead to employment.Pre-employment and post-employment accommodation assistance is available for clients.

ODSPIWorkplace Employment Placement Services (MPS) is a program for persons in receipt of social assistance and are25 years of age or older. Clients are referred by their caseworker at Toronto Employment and Social Services offices withthe goal of securing employment Employment services include job coaching, job search workshops, job placement andmatching, and job retention. Through the program participants will build their confidence and develop skills to preparethem for the work environment and be successful in securing and maintaining employment.
