Length? 1 page

Course Titles? Keep them simple. Check the right boxes.

Fonts and colors? Resist the urge.

+ and – grades? Only if you like doing extra math.

To weight or not to weight GPA? When in doubt, do it both ways.

Recording College credit. Make good choices.

1. Carnegie Units (120 hours = 1 credit)Note: Used by teacher’s union to calculate employment contracts. Homeschools are efficient, thus it takes “too long” to earn credit.

2. Semester Method (1 semester = 0.5 credit)Note: Aligns well with dual enrollment attendance, but without structure, may not always hit targets.

3. Quarter Method (1 quarter = 0.25 credit)Note: Good for short classes like Driver’s Ed, but requires more math.

4. Mastery Method (mastery = credit)Note: Good fit for self-paced learning classes like Study.com, Sophia, or CLEP. Allows for very fast and very slow students to work at their own pace.

5. Finish the Book Method (book = credit)Note: Common method used with curriculum programs (Algebra 1) harder with freestyle learning.
