In 1992, after NCR merged with AT&T, Jeff discussed the idea of opening a restaurant with his best friend from high school, Dan Blumenthal, and they started a two year journey of creating a business plan, soliciting investors and acting as general contractors for the opening of their first restaurant, BRAVO! in the spring of 1994.

Dan and Jeff went on to open Broad Street Baking Company and Café in December 1998, and Sal & Mookie’s New York Pizza & Ice Cream Joint in April 2007. In between these two events, they opened, and subsequently closed, two small versions of Broad Street in the downtown Jackson area: Broad Street Express – an experimental “grab & go” concept, and Broad Street Downtown, a smaller version of the flagship Broad Street brand. They also operated a wholesale baking business for a number of years, serving over 20 local restaurants, hotels and private clubs with bread, dessert and pastry selections, baked fresh and delivered.
