  • INT. OFFICE - DAY

    At a cluttered quiet office building with small tightcubicles, few workers are facing their computers answeringphone calls. SARA mid 20s, Wearing professional businessattire, is sitting in her small cramped cubicle facing hercomputer answering the phone like her fellow coworkers. Hercubicle is filled with model planes, pictures of AmeliaEarhart, Paris, Greece, Spain, Italy.

    SARA (NARRATION)They say a picture is worth athousand words. My life picture isworth about four. Eat, sleep, work,and repeat.

    Days, weeks, even months pass as Sara continues the sameroutine at her desk, trash, food, mail and paper begin topile up at her desk as the days pass by.

    INT. OFFICE BREAK ROOM - DAY

    SARA walks into the break room and begins to make her boringcompany coffee.

    JESSICA, mid 20s, wearing professional business attire isspeaking to her other associates about her vacation toParis.

    JESSICAThe trip was amazing! I enjoyedevery minute of it. The food, theculture, the sexy men! I couldntget enough! I cant wait until I getanother vacation!

    SARA listens as she waits for her coffee to finish from theold coffee maker.

    JESSICAUGH! I cant wait until I get outtathis dump. Who knows maybe Illfind a rich man and hell take meall over the world.

    The women laugh and continue to talk about traveling. SARAScoffee finishes and she scoffs at the women and walks backto her cubicle.

    INT. OFFICE - DAY

    As she walks back to her cubicle SARA notices that the postwoman left a postcard on her desk.

    SARAExcuse me! I believe you made amistake, I dont receive this typeof mail.

    POSTWOMANI dont make mistakes youngin.

    SARA examines the postcard, on the front it reads: "FromParis, With love!" The back reads: "Your picture is worth athousand words."

    SARAYour picture is worth a thousandwords.

    JESSICAOH! Whats this?!

    JESSICA snatches the postcard from SARAS hand.

    SARAHey! Thats mine

    JESSICAGot yourself an admirer huh!

    SARA attempts to get the card back as JESSICA taunts her.

    SARAVery funny Jess, I already know allabout your trip you didnt have tosend me this to rub it in my face.

    JESSICA chuckles as she hands the postcard back to SARA.

    JESSICAI didnt send you this silly.

    INT. OFFICE - NIGHT

    A row of open cubicles has desks facing the wall. The onlylighting is Saras desk lamp. Saras desk has POSTCARDS FROMVARIOUS DESTINATIONS pinned to the cubicle wall. Sara sitsat her desk, tosses out a to-go coffee cup and pins thePARIS postcard to her cubicle wall. She taps fingers on theEiffel Tower postcard. She lets out a sigh. She gets up to

    leave then returns, takes down the Eiffel Tower postcard,turns out the lamp, and walks out.

    INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY

    In an old coffee shop with a dark interior are small tableswith a few DINERS seated. There is a counter against theback wall with a cash register, a stack of cappuccino cupsand saucers, and a small rack of PARIS POSTCARDS.

    At the counter is a CASHIER, male, mid 30s looks at SARA,interested.

    SARA is dressed in jeans, jacket, bright color shirt, and aBRIGHT BLUE SCARF with a travel bag over her shoulder. Shewaits at the counter, browsing through postcards.

    Next to her is a TRAVELER, female, mid 40s. She is dressedwith a dark brown trench, coat and boots with faded pantsand a white shirt. She wears the same BRIGHT BLUE SCARF asSARA but under her jacket. She speaks without facing Sara.

    TRAVELERYou know, a postcard can changesomeones day.

    Sara laughs, takes three postcards from rack, and steps upto order. The cashier stares at SARA smiling handsomely.

    CASHIERHey...uh I mean Hi, I mean Yes howcan I help you.

    SARAJust a Latte please and these.

    CASHIERWant some of my sugar? uh! I meanwould you like some sugar, thelatte, would you like sugar withthe latte.

    SARA laughs at the blushing cashier and blushes back.

    SARAWhy yes of course!

    The CASHIER laughs in return and continues to make SARASlatte.

    CASHIERI apologize, I...I dont do wellaround beautiful women.

    SARAOh, well no harm done. Im not thatbeautiful anyway...

    SARA embarressed and a little shy grabs her coffee andpostcards and leaves to the corner of the coffee shop andsits down. SARA groans about how embarressing it was toleave so awkwardly. The traveler brings her coffee and sitsdown at the next table with her back to SARA. She half turnstoward SARA but facing the corner area as she speaks.

    TRAVELERIve been all over this globe. Whatyou just did will serve you everysingle place you go.

    SARA groans again.

    SARAYes I know, thank you for remindingme how socially awkward I am.

    TRAVELEROh no my dear, not that. That boyliked you. And you liked him. No?

    SARA taps her head on the table as she continues to blushand groan.

    TRAVELRWhats wrong? Something I said? Whydont you ask for his number?

    SARAWhat are you some kind of lovedoctor?! Cant you just leave mealone to drink my coffee in peace?!

    The TRAVELER turns back around. Both women now having therebacks toward each other. SARA looks at the postcards shejust purchased, she closes her eyes and sighs. SARA turns tothe TRAVELER.

    SARAIm sorry. I guess you can say Ihave my fathers temper.

    TRAVELERFor what? Offering new advice?Silly apology to a fellow beautifilwoman such as myself.

    The TRAVELER puffs her hair and bats her eyes. SARA laughsas she replies.

    SARAYou are right about the postcards.

    The traveler finishes her coffee, checks her watch, picks upher bag, and speaks as she gathers things up.

    TRAVELERAm I? If thats so then why dontyou visit those places that you seein those postcards.

    SARAScared I suppose, scared of theunknown. Ive never even left thecity even. Let alone a new Country.

    TRAVELERStart small, theirs an art museumnot to far from the city. Try that.Maybe ask that boy to go with you.Hm. Yeah, an art museum.

    The TRAVELER leans down at SARA.

    TRAVELERYou know they say a picture isworth a thousand words.

    The TRAVELER turns around and wraps up her bright blue scarfaround her neck and over her shoulder and exits the CoffeeShop.

    SARA turns back around and stares for awhile at her coffeeand postcards. She get up from her table and walks over tothe counter to talk to the Cashier.

    FADE OUT
