Behind the Music“Mercy and Grace,” written by Ronnie Hinson kicks of an excellent recording by the Amundruds. I love this song by the Bowlings, and this family makes it their own with a slightly slower tempo as well as their unique harmony and blend. It sets the pace for thirteen more solid songs, several of them written by group members Daryl and Gary Amundrud. Two generations of Amundruds take the stage, both vocally and instrumentally. Brothers and sisters, Gary, Daryl, Lorilyn, Sherri, and their dad, Glen, along with Amy Olson, are all vocalists. Each one is also a part of the band, playing piano/keyboards, drums, Gango, bass guitar, mandolin, fiddle, electric guitar, and acoustic guitar. Mom, (Linda) rounds out the family band with the tambourine. Fourteen songs are a premium on this CD. I love the song selection and vocal arrangements on each one. The Amundruds sing “The Real Me,” written by Natalie Grant, “Changing Locations,” written by Gerald Crabb, “The Road to Forgiveness,” written by Suzanne Gaither Jennings, and “I'm Going Home With Jesus,” written by Carroll McGruder, to name a few favorites. “The Broken Ones,” and the title song, “At The Crossroad” are two songs that will speak to each of us, and “Daddy Sang Bass” was a wise decision for the Amundruds, since the entire family is involved in their music ministry. The Featured Group Of The MonthThe featured group of the month is The Revelation Singers. This group began their ministry in October 1978. The group has under gone a few changes over the years. They now have a group that sings well together because of their love of the Lord and their dedication to their ministry. This group has ministered all over the states of Texas and Oklahoma, but has traveled as far as Colorado and Missouri. The group members are Jay Weidel (Manager/Lead Singer), James White (Baritone, Tenor, and Bass), Pat White (Alto), Leroy Harper (Bass), and Debbie Harper (Moral Support). Upcoming Spring EventsThe Sunnylane Southern Baptist Church Men's Retreat on May 3rd – 4th at Royal Ranger Adventure Camp near Chandler, OK. It cost $20 includes two meals, bed, access to fishing, skeet shooting, Bible study, and fellowship. No fishing license required if you fish on Royal Ranger property. Bring your own fishing equipment. Live bait encouraged. Golf Course $35. For those who can't stay the night, you are welcome to come on Friday for Bible Study (6pm) or Saturday for skeet shooting (10am) and pay the day fee of $15. Youth under age 16-18 and youth under age 16 accompanied by a parent can attend at no cost.
