    SHADOWED.The Future/ForeshadowScience DepartmentWork GroundsNight.

Darkness. That was all CONNOR could see as he ranblindly through the grounds of this work; uselesslythrowing his gaze over his shoulder, expecting tocatch even a small glimpse of HIS STALKER. HIsshelter was in sight; all he had to do was reach it

and he'd be safe. Heat beating frantically in hischest with terror grasping hold of him, Connorrushed forwards, adrenaline kicking in.The angry rumbles of the clouds above him sentshivers down his spine as he ran. Lightningflashed, lighting up the grounds in an eerie,other-wordly, white glow. By his hip he could feelthe comforting touch of the handgun he carriedbumping into his leg. He felt safer with a gun.

Seeing the doors to his right Connor pulled upquickly and crashed through them, slamming themshut behind him.

Once inside Connor stopped to breathe; doublingover and sucking in deep gasps of air as he lookedaround. It was black inside; deserted. Quiet exceptfor the sounds of the thunder outside and thebright flashes of lightning.Straightening up, Connor stopped to pull out hisgun; deeming it wise to arm himself first.Clutching the grip with both hands, one finger onthe trigger; Connor held the weapon at arms length, shifting softly towards the threshold of the door.

Lightning flared, thunder clashed. A SHADOW movedacross the door. Breathing heavily Connor swunghimself round the wall; half expecting the stalkerto be standing right there...Nothing.Shaking his head in disbelief, Connor backed away;swinging to look back into the swirling shadows ofthe corridor;dim shapes visible. From somewhere infront of him footsteps sounded from a smallerpassage that sprang off the main corridor; a muchdarker one at that. Feeling uneasy, Connor edgedtowards the sound; his heart in his mouth.Just like last time, without hesitating, Connorswung the guns aim around the corner. He was onlymet my darkness. Seeing nothing but black andhearing nothing but his own imagination, he smirkedat his own stupidity and turned away as anotherflash of lightning appears.

As the white glow it's spell across the corridorsomething behind Connor detached itself from the

shadows. It stayed as black as the darkness it hadcome from; the light seeming to melt off the blackof its clothes and the gleam of his gun; castingonly shadows of the FIGURE. The stalker smiledbeneath his hood; eyes unseen, silently waiting forthe moment to take the man's life. And he had found his moment.Sensing something amiss, Connor twisted stifflyaround. Just as his eyes settled on the figure thescreen goes black.

    A gunshot sounded.
