The objective of this project was to design and illustrate an instructional and foreign language book that communicates the layers of a forest in Japanese. The target audience are people interested in learning Japanese and have an appreciation for contemporary Japanese illustration style. Translations of Japanese text were taken from Google translate and provide basic description of the illustrations. As in traditional Japanese texts, the glyphs read top to bottom, front to back. The images were digitally produced with the look of watercolour. And I created simpliﬁed illustrations with the focus on colour and atmosphere.
