Overview Kwantlen is proud to introduce a five

week field school in Japan, which will provide students with a remarkable experience that focuses on: › Japanese language› Japanese culture

Eligibility Requirements You need to be:

› Nineteen years of age› A student in good standing

You do not need to:› complete a certain number of credits

before you can go› currently be a Kwantlen student to attend

Classes Students can register for up to six credits

for this field school:› CUST 1200 Introduction to Contemporary

Japanese Society and Culture (3 credits)› JAPN 1101 Basic Japanese II (3 credits)

Part of the course will be completed at Kwantlen and part on site in Japan

If there is enough demand, we might be able to offer different levels of Japanese.

Highlights Nagoya

› Be partnered with a Nagoya student for language learning

› Field trips to the Toyota factory and to a ceramics factory› Spend one night with a homestay family

Kyoto› City tour with English guide› Stopes at Kiyomizu temple, the stone garden, Kinkakuji

temple, Horyuji temple, Daibutsu (big Buddha), and Nara Park

Tokyo› Free time to explore the city at your own pace.

Accomodation Nagoya: Business hotel (Japanese style

room shared by 4-6 students)

Kyoto: University Dorm (Japanese style room shared by 4 students)

Tokyo: Hotel (twin room)

Costs Program is estimated to cost $2500 not including

flight and tuition and personal expenses. A deposit of $250 will be required at the time of

application and is non-refundable. The outstanding amount owing will be due at the

same time as the rest of your regular course fees. This date will be posted at:› http://www.kwantlen.ca/registration/dates.html

A minimum of 10 students will be required for the program to go ahead. If the program is cancelled due to attendance, your $250 will be refunded.

Application Process Students will need to fill out an application form

and hand it in to the International Programs and Exchanges Office with their $250 deposit

Deposit cheques should be made out to Kwantlen Polytechnic University with a note: Japanese Field School.

Application form consists of general information page and a statement of interest.

Application deadline:› March 31st, 2010, 4:30pm
