Austin Ryan Morrison, son of Maggie and Marc Morrison, will be called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah on January 11, 2020.

Austin is a 7th grade honor roll student at Corner Lake Middle School. Austin enjoys traveling, spending

time with his friends, playing with friends on his Xbox and playing with his dog, Katie. For his Mitzvah project, he raised $568 for the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital by doing a 24 hour Xbox marathon. He ranked in the top 7% of almost 50,000 fundraisers doing similar projects. Austin would like to thank his tutors, Dr Sulkes-Freeman and Cantor Jacki, along with Rabbi Engel for their help. He is looking forward to celebrating with friends and family from near and far. Finally, he is grateful to his parents and sister, Elena, for their love and support.

Lila Frances Gerber, daughter of Dori and Doug Gerber, will be called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah on January 25, 2020.

Lila is in the 7th Grade at Teague Middle School where she excels in all of her classes, but she especially loves her

Civics class which has made her consider becoming a lawyer in the future. Lila is a member of TMS’s yearbook staff and enjoys interviewing her peers, taking pictures and writing stories for the school’s yearbook that will be published at the end of the school year. When not studying or writing stories, you can catch her behind home plate at her favorite place in the world - the softball field! Lila has been playing softball since she was 8-years-old and has dreams of playing for the Florida Gators when she goes to college.  Lila would like to thank her tutor, Dr. Sacharoff, as well as Rabbi Engel and Cantor Jacki, for their guidance over the past year. She has been working extremely hard towards her Bat Mitzvah and looks forward to celebrating it with her parents, her sister, Jacqui, her dog Milo and her family and friends from near and far.

Skyla Elizabeth Silver, daughter of Alicia and Jason Silver, will be called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah on February 8, 2020. Skyla is a 7th grader at Tuskawilla Middle School. She has always been an A+ student and was inducted into the National Junior Honors Society last year.

Skyla plays on the school volleyball team and plays club volleyball. She loves music, singing, going to her favorite summer camps, and hanging out with family and friends. Skyla would like to thank Dr. Sulkes-Freeman for her time, patience, and guidance. She is looking forward to sharing her joyous accomplishment with her parents, sister Gillia, brother Renner and her family and friends.

Max Aaron Anders, son of Rebecca and Christopher Anders, will be called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah on February 29, 2020. Max is a 7th grader at Jackson Heights Middle School and a graduate of The Jewish Academy of Orlando. Max enjoys playing baseball where he is a pitcher and 3rd

baseman and is on a club swim team as well. When Max is not participating in sports, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family and looks forward to his summers spent in NC at Camp Judaea. Max has been preparing for this day since kindergarten when he began his Hebrew and Judaic studies at JAO. We are all looking forward to sharing this wonderful occasion and celebrating all of Max’s accomplishments with our friends and family.

Bubbee’s Easy Hamantaschen Recipe

Directions1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until lightly and fluffy. Stir in the oil, vanilla and orange juice. Combine the flour and baking powder; stir into the batter to form a stiff dough. If dough is not stiff enough to roll out, stir in more flour. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to 1/4 inch in thickness. (It has always worked better for Bubbee if I cover the dough and refrigerate overnight – but you can also chill in the freezer for about 15 minutes) Cut into circles using a cookie cutter or the rim or a drinking glass. Place cookies 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets. Spoon about 2 teaspoons of preserves into the center of each one. Pinch the edges to form three corners.3. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly browned. Allow cookies to cool for 1 minute on the cookie sheet before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

Ingredients· 3 eggs· 1 cup granulated sugar· 3/4 cup vegetable oil· 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract· 1/2 cup orange juice· 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour· 1 tablespoon baking powder· 1 cup fruit preserves, any flavor
