ALL ARE WELCOME! …it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: that the Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. Eph. 3:4-6
Every social transformation or change begins from a particular location or among a group of people and then spreads out. The same is true with God’s plan of salvation. After the fall of humanity through sin, God divines a plan of salvation for all his children. To accomplish this he chose a man named Abram, made a covenant with him and assured him that he would become the father of many nations (Gen 15). At the beginning of his family, God changed his name from Abram to Abraham (Gen 17). When that family was big enough to be a nation, God changed the then patriarch’s name from Jacob to Israel (Gen 32:22-32). “When the fullness of time was come” for God to universalize his plan, he sent his only begotten son to redeem the world (Gal 4:4-5; Jn 3:15-16). When the work of salvation was ready to include all nations, Jesus Christ changed the name of the head of the apostles from Simon to Peter (Mt 16:13-20). It is safe to say that the whole scheme was altogether God’s progressive plan of inclusion. Why is this important? Because “God wants ALL people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth…. So that he will be all in all” (1 Tim 2:4; 1 Cor 15:28). Thus, Epiphany is God’s self-revelation to the rest of world. It is his way of inviting the rest of humanity to his Kingdom of light and peace. He guides the magi through a star, which is a temporary light, to a permanent light. Through what they knew, they were guided to what they knew not - from the created to the creator, from death to life. The magi “were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary, his mother” (Mt 2:1-11). We too rejoice with them for being invited to the Kingdom where this child shall reign as King forever. The Church is a sacramental presence of God’s Kingdom in the world. Therefore, ALL are welcome in the Church. ALL are invited and all are included in the Church. No one is exempt, except those who exclude themselves through their sins. And so, let the feast of the Epiphany of the Lord always remind us that God is inclusive and that we belong together as his children.

Toda transformación o cambio social comienza en un lugar determinado o entre un grupo de personas y luego se extiende. Lo mismo ocurre con el plan de salvación de Dios. Después de la caída de la humanidad a través del pecado, Dios diviniza un plan de salvación para todos sus hijos. Para lograr esto, escogió a un hombre llamado Abram, hizo un pacto con él y le aseguró que se convertiría en el padre de muchas naciones (Gen 15). Al principio de su familia, Dios cambió su nombre de Abram a Abraham (Gen 17). Cuando esa familia fue lo suficientemente grande como para ser una nación, Dios cambió el nombre del entonces patriarca de Jacob a Israel (Gen 32:22-32). Y así, que la fiesta de la Epifanía del Señor nos recuerde siempre que Dios es inclusive y que pertenecemos juntos como sus hijos.

Happy New Year!!!! It is always so wonderful to begin a new year especially with the plan to start it off on the right foot! As we approached the end of the year, I saw a lot of post on social media about the “10 Year Challenge”. The point of this was to post a photo of yourself 10 years ago next to a picture of yourself now and compare them. This was to spark the conversation and thought of what has the past decade been like for you/to you and what have you done in the past 10 years. So naturally I did this challenge (you can see the evidence below) and I start to think on the past decade of my life. 10 years ago I started as the Youth Minister here in this parish and my life changed completely in so many ways from making this one life choice that I can not even begin to count! But one thing for sure is that I would never take back my decision to be the Youth Minister. I look at 10 years of ministry and I look at the good, the bad, and the ugly. There are things in ministry that weren’t my best moment but they are overshadowed by all of the amazing ministry moments over the years. One thing that I am doing as I start this new year and something I think we should all do is to make a 10 year plan that covers several aspects of my life. For myself I am going to focus on ministry, family, and personal health. I challenge you all to do the same with your own goals and find someone to keep you accountable fo your goals and who can be there with you along this amazing journey. So as 10 years comes to an end and a new decade begins lets make it the best one yet! May God bless you all in this new year and know that I pray for you all and I hope you will pray for me as well. ¡¡Feliz Año Nuevo!! Siempre es tan maravilloso comenzar un nuevo año, especialmente con el plan de comenzarlo con el pie derecho! A medida que nos acercamos al final del año, vi muchos post en los medios sociales sobre el " Reto de los 10 años". El objetivo de esto era publicar una foto de ti mismo hace 10 años junto a una foto de ti mismo ahora y compararlas. Esto fue para encender la conversación y pensar en lo que ha sido la última década para usted / a usted y lo que ha hecho en los últimos 10 años. Así que naturalmente hice este reto (puedes ver la evidencia debajo) y empiezo a pensar en la última década de mi vida. Hace 10 años empecé como Ministro de Jóvenes aquí en esta parroquia y mi vida cambió completamente en tantas formas de hacer esta elección de vida que no puedo ni siquiera empezar a contar! Pero una cosa es segura, nunca me arrepentiría de mi decisión de ser Ministro de Jóvenes. Veo 10 años de ministerio y veo lo bueno, lo malo y lo feo. Hay cosas en el ministerio que no fueron mi mejor momento, pero que se ven opacadas por todos los increíbles momentos del ministerio a través de los años. Una cosa que estoy haciendo al comenzar este nuevo año y algo que creo que todos debemos hacer es hacer un plan de 10 años que cubra varios aspectos de mi vida. Para mí mismo me voy a enfocar en el ministerio, la familia y la salud personal. Los reto a todos a hacer lo mismo con sus propias metas y a encontrar a alguien que los mantenga responsables de sus metas y que pueda estar ahí con ustedes a lo largo de este maravilloso viaje. Así que cuando 10 años llegan a su fin y una nueva década comienza, ¡hagamos de ella la mejor hasta ahora! Que Dios los bendiga a todos en este nuevo año y sepan que yo rezo por todos ustedes y espero que ustedes también recen por mí. There are no CLASSES this week due to CHRISTMAS BREAK. We wish our families and volunteers a restful, healthy and blessed holiday season. Classes will resume SUNDAY, JANUARY 5TH, 2020. There is no MASS ATTENDANCE during the holiday break. Mass attendance will resume the weekend of JANUARY 12TH. We sincerely hope to see all our families at Mass during this important season of the year. FIRST YEAR INTERVIEWS begin SATURDAY, JANUARY 11TH. Parents are asked to refer to the schedule. Thank you to parishioners who have donated generously to our program throughout the year. We are in need of WHITE COPY PAPER. Don’t forget to save your recycles during the holiday. (Label must be on the bottles in order to be redeemed). RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONGRESS REGISTRATION BOOKLETS are available in the vestibule of the church. Early registration deadline is January 10th. We have a block of hotel rooms available at the Marriot, five rooms with a king bed and five rooms with two double beds. During the Christmas Season, Sacred Heart School students and staff members celebrate with their families and will return to class on Monday, January 6 . We send Christmas blessings to everyone in our parish and pray for a Happy New Year for all!
We are grateful for the support given to Sacred Heart School throughout the year. When you purchase scrip, save your Box Tops for Education, and make donations through the monthly parish envelope, you assist in providing a Catholic education for our students.
On Sunday, January 26, Sacred Heart School will hold an Open House from 12-2p and we invite everyone to visit our campus, see our classrooms, and meet our teachers. This Open House begins our celebration of Catholic Schools’ Week with the theme, Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.
