A new year, a new Prez! Wayne Tabor cheers the success of January 2’s Liberty Bowl and looks forward to the 18th Annual Lodging Industry Update!

First of all, I want to thank Mary Calorio for the fantastic job she has done over the past 7 years as president of our association. She covered a lot of ground, grew our membership, helped keep our

finances in check and helped bring lots of great speakers to our monthly luncheons. THANKS Mary!I am excited to be back as MMHLA

president; as many of you know I served in that position from 2001 to 2005. Ten years have passed. In that time, we’ve had three presidents and lots of things have changed. But, as MMHLA chairman over those years I have not been out of the loop and can, I believe, “hit the ground running.”

I think we all owe Steve Ehrhart, Harold Graeter and their staff a huge Thank You and Hats Off for a terrific 2015 Liberty Bowl! The city filled with Arkansas and Kansas State fans, our rooms were full and most of the city’s restaurants sure looked full to me. One of the positive things about the January 2 date is it doesn’t run into

our New Year’s Eve business. We’re starting our year with Greg Adkins, president & CEO of the TnHTA,

speaking at the January luncheon at the Sheraton Hotel Downtown. Greg will give an update on this year’s state legislative issues – important legis-lation that you as a member need to be know. And on February 12 the MMHLA and Pinkowski and Company will pres-

ent the 18th Annual Lodging

Wayne TaborPresident MMHLA

Industry Update at the Hilton Mem-phis. This is one of my favorite asso-ciation meetings. Chuck and his staff do a great job keeping us up-to-date on all the industry trends and num-bers, and they work hard to provide top-notch speakers. This year he has scheduled: Isaac Collazo, VP of Performance and Strategy with Inter-continental Hotels group; Jeff Higley, Editorial Director of HotelNewsNow.com; and Lee Hunter with Hunter Realty to deliver the Keynote ad-dress. Great speakers with relevant infor-

mation you won’t want to miss! I want to wish all of you a very

Happy New Year. I look forward to seeing you around town.
