It can be a hassle, but don’t skimp:

Regular updates on your browser, on your

operating system, and on your mobile device

equip your technology with the most recent

security settings and filters.

APP-REHENSIVE

Download apps only from trusted sources,

and be sure you know what personal data

an app wants to access.

Read the reviews.

Stay in control by adjusting privacy settings

– or simply don’t download.

TLC FOR YOUR PHONE

- Don’t click on your phone what

you wouldn’t click on your desktop.

Your phone is also vulnerable to cyber attacks!

- Set a layer of protection with a PIN or password

- Install a remote lock and wiping app

- Back up your phone and reboot regularly

- Turn off Bluetooth when not in use – thieves can

use it to connect to your device.

TRAIN YOUR

PASSWORD BRAIN

Select strong passwords that aren’t easy

to guess. Your pet’s name or “FacebookPassword”

won’t do! Also, avoid using the same password for

multiple sites, especially for online banking.

Keep in mind that “innocent” games on Social Media can be

designed to retrieve personal information that tends to be

part of security questions. Think twice before you

share seemingly random information about yourself.

PUBLIC WIFI IS NO PLACE FOR

PRIVATE TRANSACTIONS

Unless you’d be comfortable with giving a

stranger your credit card, avoid online

shopping, banking or other personal

transactions on public WiFi.
