January 20152

I am pleased to congratulate all employees on the occasion of New Year 2015. I pray to God to make it a blessed year full of success, achievements and peace in Kuwait and all over the world. I take the opportunity to highlight some of KOTC achievements in 2014 mainly in completing Phase-III of our fleet modernization plan. Out of the 9 newly built tankers, 4 were VLCC (each with 320,000 MT of loading capacity), one LR2 for petroleum products with 110,000 MT from the South Korean Daewoo Co., 4 MR for petroleum products with 50,000 MT from the South Korean Co. Hyundai. Altogether, KOTC has now 30 tankers: 12 VLCC, 14 MR tankers of various sizes and purposes and 4 very large LPG tankers. The fleet overall capacity is now 5,040 million MT (36,394 equivalent barrels). The average fleet age is approximately 7 years. In 2014, KOTC transported around 25 million MT of crude oil, petroleum products and LPG to world various seaports. Total cargos shipped from Kuwait amounted to 16,927 MT, i.e. 68% of fleet

overall shipments. With high efficiency and without any maritime accidents or marine pollution accidents, KOTC tankers sailed in 2014 over 1,6 million miles. As for the LPG factory at Shuaiba, around 9,130,000 cylinders were distributed from April to November 2014 to all sectors, homes, restaurants, factories, companies, state authorities and ministries. Altogether, 13,700,000 gas cylinders are expected to be distributed by the end of the current fiscal year in March 2015. Liquefied gas filling branch continued upgrading of filling and distributing systems to be in line with the international standards. Following the measures to unify the insurance rates for all cylinders types, the new light-weight gas cylinders have been successfully marketed locally. This is a major step for better liquefied gas supply service, achieving higher quality and safety standard for consumers. The new gas cylinders are made of high-quality material, recyclable, environment-friendly, fanciful, easy to handle and light-weight. KOTC is the first company in the Middle East to start dealing with light-metal gas cylinders. Effort is now underway to upgrade the QHSEMS to be in accordance with HSE MS KPC system

human history was recorded when KOTC tanker Al-Salmi saved the lives of 536 refugees who were at risk of drowning at the Mediterranean. The necessary food, water, shelter and medical care were provided to them. This incident shows KOTC commitment to the international maritime laws and Kuwait in general, represented by its all authorities and institutions, in providing all humanitarian aid. Kuwait civilized action was well-commended and covered by the local and international mass media. As well, new awards have joined our trophy tally after Um Al-Aish gas filling plant winning the Health & Safety Excellency Award by Moshel Limited Co., Safety Award of Lloyd's List and Al-Kout selection by the Maritime Reporter magazine as the World 2014 top tanker in design, efficiency and environment-protection and the selection of Al-Dasma as the world-best environment-friendly tanker by the World Marine-log journal. KOTC also collected two awards after an induction course regarding South Korea experience in economy. In addition, I have been selected among the world top influential 50 executives in marine transport. By God's will, and following

requirements and obtain the ISO-9001, ISO OHSAS-18001 and ISO14001 during the first quarter, 2014/2015. Regarding KOTC strategic and civil projects, the new gas filling plant at Um Al-Aish will be commissioned in the first quarter next year; whereas, the new administrative building for LPG filling branch at Al-Shuaiba is also completed. Meanwhile, obtaining the engineering consultation for building a multi-storey car-park is underway at the space dedicated for the General Management at KOTC Shweikh warehouses. By the end of last year, the Marine Agency various services were provided to 1,616 oil tankers which berthed in Kuwait sea-ports. KOTC has managed also managed in March 2014 to secure an alternative land for the Marine Agency. This success was the result of long years of follow-ups and in cooperation with Kuwait Municipality after the current lease agreement expired. Our manpower stands now at around 682 employees with 89.3% Kuwaitis. Next years, this ratio will be raised to keep up with our future plans in recruiting new young manpower and training them according to the highest local and international standards. Last year, the first Marine

the last three years hardship due to the world financial crisis that pushed the charter tankers market lower, the Company collected KD 20 million of profit in the fiscal year 2013/2014. The profits have been achieved following the re-evaluation and amendment of the accounting mechanism between KOTC and KPC. Compensation is paid to KOTC based on the tankers annual strategic charter cover. Accordingly, the tankers collect the return on investment related to the KPC transportation sector. In addition, 40% of fleet depreciation is compensated to KOTC. Finally, on behalf of the top management, Board of Directors and all employees, I convey our deep appreciation to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, HH the Crown Prince, HH the Prime Minister and the Chairman of PSC, Minister of Oil & Chairman of KPC for their esteemed guidance to us. I would like also to commend the cooperation and efforts of KPC CEO & DMs and all the employees of KOTC at their respective positions at Head Office, on deck, Shuaiba and Um Al-Aish LPG factories, the Marine Agency and overseas offices for their vital role in achieving our objectives. Wishing you a successful year.

Engineers graduated from the U.K. and joined our fleet to be a strong enhancement to our workforce. We continue our support for the other Overseas Captain and Senior Marine Engineer students. They are regularly visited to check their needs and ensure that their study is going on well. We rely on them to keep Kuwait’s flag high. The Company maintained its Green Award, provided by the Green award Foundation, for the protection of environment. This entitles KOTC tankers a lot of facilities at world major sea-ports. KOTC succeeded also in renewing all fleet ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 certificates, managed in developing and introducing on-deck employees efficiency. The system, approved by the classification institution DNV, is designed to ensure conformity with the maritime industry top development classification and fulfills the international TOTS system for the training of fleet officers as well as SIGETTO authority. LPG Maintenance Team - Shuaiba Branch, represented by Eng. Nawaf Al-Shatti, Eng. Khalid Al-Mhanna, Eng. Muhammad Mustapha and Eng. Yasser Al-Hamad, participated in 2nd Corrosion Control in Kuwait. Kuwait and Gulf oil companies as well as international corrosion specialists participated in the conference which was organized by National Association for Corrosion Engineers (NACE). "Main gas pipeline indirect tests" was the title of KOTC research paper at the conference. It was presented by Eng. Muhammad Mustafa and was applauded by the attendees at the conference. The Maintenance Team expressed pleasure for the strong participation at the

conference; it was the first time for the presentation of a research paper at the prestigious event. The second was the effective implementation of KPC strategy in exchange of Best Practices among the oil companies. Co-operation between KOC and KOTC was fruitful. NACE member and KOC Corrosion Senior Specialist Hasan Sabri spoke in a course titled "Basics of cathode protection." Seven Maintenance engineers and Senior Electric Supervisor attended the course. On the practical side, KOC Inspection & Corrosion Teams made a direct inspection over the internal gas pipeline to view its protection, and to conduct a cathode protection feasibility

study. High-level tests on the MAA refinery – LPG branch main gas pipeline were carried out. The tests were detailed by the research-paper in the conference. Co-operation between KOC and KOTC will continue to complete the main LPG gas pipeline. The third line was reaching a higher level of professionalism through the Maintenance Team effort in keeping updated with the corrosion engineering international standards. Eng. Muhammad Mustafa was nominated for attending the two cathode-protection courses by NACE. As a result, he was certified as an Authorized Inspector in cathode protection after passing the necessary tests.
