Recreation and Events Leisure January 2020 JANUARY 1. Most of us hope that the new year will be better than the old. That’s why we make resolutions. We promise ourselves to do better and be better: I will make wiser food choices; I will build a more fit body; I will create more meaningful relationships. But lasting change happens when we incorporate small, easy changes – no more than one a week – into our lives, making each one a permanent part of our new lifestyle. A small change such as, “I will eat a small side salad every day with lunch or dinner, preferably both.” When that one change sticks and is now a habit, we are ready to add another. So next week we add a second easy change, and a week after that we add a third. Week after week, we see real, positive change in our life, and it builds our confidence. Yes, we can do this! Success breeds success. What change do you want to make in your life? • You want to be a pilot? The Rocky Mountain USAF Flight Training Center (aka, Aero Club) can get you into the pilot’s seat and into the wild blue yonder. • You want to improve your cardio health? The Fitness Center and Aquatics Center have programs designed for that and more. Take a class or meet with a personal trainer. • You want to be able to shoot par on the golf course? It re- quires good skills and lots of play. The PGA instructors at Silver Spruce Golf Course can help you improve your game. And with lots of practice, you can get there. • You want to lose yourself in Colorado’s great outdoors? Outdoor Recreation will lead the way and, in the process, you just might find yourself again. Every January 1 signals a new beginning, a fresh start. But each new day is a new beginning, too. And each day that you make a positive change in your life, no matter how small, is the day your life moves in a positive direction. Simple, huh? Life doesn’t have to be complicated. The first day of a new year – symbolic of new beginnings, a fresh start, a clean slate.

JANUARY 1.

A small change such as, “I will eat a small side salad every day with lunch or dinner, preferably both.”

When that one change sticks and is now a habit, we are ready to add another. So next week we add a second easy change, and a week after that we add a third. Week after week, we see real, positive change in our life, and it builds our confidence.

Yes, we can do this! Success breeds success.

What change do you want to make in your life?• You want to be a pilot? The Rocky Mountain USAF Flight Training

Center (aka, Aero Club) can get you into the pilot’s seat and into the wild blue yonder.

• You want to improve your cardio health? The Fitness Center and Aquatics Center have programs designed for that and more. Take a class or meet with a personal trainer.

• You want to be able to shoot par on the golf course? It re-quires good skills and lots of play.

The first day of a new year – symbolic of new beginnings,

a fresh start, a clean slate.

LIBRARY’S TEMPORARY

CLOSURE Continues through February 9

The Library is closed temporarily for carpet replacement and a bit of zhoosh-ing. Sounds like a lickety-split job, right? But, like most projects, more is involved than meets the eye. With the packing and unpacking of our entire facility book by book, if you will, we expect to reopen Monday, February 10, at our usual time of 11:30 a.m.

We hope with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season that you will hardly notice our absence and look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year to share in our excitement over the Library’s freshened up look.

In the meantime...• To RETURN titles currently checked

out, use the book drop out front to turn in ALL items, to include tablets and discs.

• To RENEW titles currently checked out, reply to reminder emails. Keep in mind that reminder emails are automated, renewals are not. Please allow staff time to process your renewal request before sending a follow-up email. You will re-ceive a receipt at the time of renewal.

• To DONATE titles, don’t. Please reach out to other public or school libraries for duration of closure. Any unauthorized donations deposited into the book drop will be trashed.

• To ACCESS eResources, visit the Air Force Portal (under Library & Resources tab) for an A-Z list or contact us via email for assistance.

• To ATTEND Storytime, check our website for specific dates and meet us at the Youth Center on those Wednesdays at 1000.

• To OUTPROCESS, contact us via email for assistance.

• To CONTACT us for any reason...to include questions, comments, virtual hugs for moral support... email us at [email protected].

Again, if you just so happen to end up missing us as much as we will be miss-ing you, staff can be reached ONLY BY EMAIL at [email protected], which we monitor weekdays during normal business hours. This may vary considerably during holiday weeks. Our phone lines are no longer active; we are working to change our voicemail to reflect such, but the sweet voice of the Library is homebound having welcomed a healthy baby boy on 19 November!
