Reflection of the Gospel:

They were overjoyed at seeing the star. In

today’s gospel creation itself proclaims the

birth of Jesus to the magi, kings who are

strangers in the land of Israel. They follow the

star in their search for this newborn king, and

when they find him not in the palace in

Jerusalem but in a humble home in

Bethlehem, they worship this baby and offer

him kingly gifts. The magi respond with joy

to the revelation of Jesus, unlike Herod who

is “greatly troubled.” Unable to receive the

gift of Jesus or to offer Jesus the gift of

himself he remains hostage to his greed and

lust for power.

Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for bringing salvation to all

the nations. May the gospel of salvation be proclaimed to

every nation today and to every person on the face of the

earth. Help me to be a good witness of the joy of the gospel

to all I meet.

Reflexión del Evangelio:

Tal es el trasfondo de nuestro relato, en el que una estrella

es la gran anunciadora del nacimiento del Mesías. Es la

estrella la que guía a los Magos, que no conocían la reve-

lación de Dios a Israel y por eso tienen que preguntar en

la ciudad santa por el lugar del nacimiento del nuevo Rey.

Por un lado, están los sacerdotes y letrados, sabios en el

conocimiento de las Escrituras; por el otro lado están

estos extranjeros, provenientes de culturas y religiones

distintas a la de Israel. Es la representación, en pequeño,

del drama que rodeara la vida de Jesús, el rechazo de los

suyos. Los Magos guiados solamente por un fenómeno

natural, entran en el misterio de la presencia de Dios que

se hace presente en la humildad de un niño recién nacido.

Advertidos por sueños, no regresaran a Jerusalén, donde

el poder imperial busca la muerte del Mesías.

Señor Jesucristo, Te agradecemos por traer la salvación a todas

las naciones. Que el Evangelio de la salvación sea proclamado

a todas las naciones hoy y a cada persona en la faz de la tierra.

Ayúdeme a ser un buen testigo del gozo del Evangelio a todos

los que conozco.

God is good all the time! He has re-vealed his great love for us through his Son Jesus, our Lord and our Redeem-er. How do you experience the loving presence of God in your life? In some wonderful and mysterious ways, he has certainly revealed his love as you must

have felt his gracious presence in your life. You must have offered a prayer of petition, asking for the grace of healing for yourself or for someone else. And then you just felt his power being at work in you, or in some other ways. God continues to re-veal himself, not just two thousand years ago as he manifested his Son to the magi, but even today. We celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany this weekend which means revelation or manifestation. This sea-son of Christmas is a joyful manifestation of God’s love for us as we continue to celebrate his birth. The magi would learn about his birth and visit the baby Jesus. It is always a source of joy when we see a newly born baby. Likewise, may we always be filled with the joy of learning, discovering and seeing the Lord, no longer as a baby, but through each people that we see and encounter in our life. As God revealed himself to all peoples, may we have a disposition of inclusivity in the sense of wel-coming each one into our hearts and into our com-munity. We also celebrate National Migration Week. May this feast inspire us to be a welcoming commu-nity, showing our love and respect to everyone from whatever race, culture and background he or she comes from. God is certainly good to us, may we show and share his goodness to everyone!

¡Dios es bueno todo el tiempo! Él ha reve-

lado su gran amor por nosotros a través de

su Hijo Jesús, nuestro Señor y nuestro Re-

dentor. ¿Cómo experimentas la presencia

amorosa de Dios en tu vida? De algunas

maneras maravillosas y misteriosas, cierta-

mente ha revelado su amor, ya que debes

haber sentido su presencia graciosa en tu vida. Debe ha-

ber ofrecido una oración de petición, pidiendo la gracia

de la curación para usted o para otra persona. Y enton-

ces solo sentiste su poder trabajando en ti, o de alguna

otra manera. Dios continúa revelándose a sí mismo, no

solo hace dos mil años cuando manifestó su Hijo a los

magos, sino incluso hoy. Celebramos la fiesta de la Epi-

fanía este fin de semana, lo que significa revelación o

manifestación. Esta temporada de Navidad es una mani-

festación alegre del amor de Dios por nosotros mientras

continuamos celebrando su nacimiento. Los magos

aprenderían sobre su nacimiento y visitarían al niño Je-

sús. Siempre es una fuente de alegría cuando vemos a

un bebé recién nacido. Del mismo modo, que siempre

estemos llenos de la alegría de aprender, descubrir y ver

al Señor, ya no como un bebé, sino a través de cada per-

sona que vemos y encontramos en nuestra vida. Como

Dios se reveló a todos los pueblos, tengamos una dispo-

sición de inclusión en el sentido de dar la bienvenida a

cada uno en nuestros corazones y en nuestra comunidad.

También celebramos la Semana Nacional de la Migra-

ción. Que esta fiesta nos inspire a ser una comunidad

acogedora, mostrando nuestro amor y respeto hacia to-

dos, independientemente de la raza, cultura y anteceden-

tes de los que provenga. Dios es ciertamente bueno con

nosotros, ¡podemos mostrar y compartir su bondad a

todos!

asumir nuestra responsabilidad de garantizar la seguridad de los
