REFERENCE - GAPP ARCHITECTS & URBAN DESIGNERS

To whom it may concern,
Janine Loubser was employed as a spatial planner for close to 2 years, from March 2013 to December 2014, initially as part of City Think Space, a specialist spatial planning and urban design practice and then with GAPP Architects and Urban Designers after the companies merged in August 2014. During this time Janine was involved with the preparation of spatial development frameworks at regional and municipal scales as well as local area precinct plans. Janine undertook planning research, site analysis, mapping and was responsible for the production of maps and reports. Janine was also responsible for project coordination on several of our key projects including overall process management, client liaison and the coordination of a variety of multi-disciplinary teams. Janine is an extremely talented, highly committed planner who is able to work independently, think for herself and added significant value to all the projects she worked on. She also made a notable contribution to the day to day running of the office. Her spirit of teamwork was appreciated by all of her colleagues.
Janine possesses a professional maturity and competence well beyond her years and I can recommend her very highly to any spatial planning position.
I am very sorry that Janine is leaving us and would re-employ her without any hesitation. Yours faithfully

2 November 2012 To Whom It May Concern: RE: Janine Loubser I have known Janine since February 2011 when she started the UCT City and Regional Planning Programme. I taught her in a number of courses: ‘Urban Infrastructure’, ‘Project B’ (Metropolitan Planning studio) and ‘Planning and Governmental Systems’. Janine received the top mark for the Metropolitan Planning studio and did very well in her other courses. In 2012, I supervised her dissertation for her Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning. It is a thorough and thought-provoking study of the creative city concept in Cape Town. I was very impressed with her research; she was a pleasure to supervise. Janine is definitely one of the most gifted students I have encountered in my decade as a planning academic. She is intellectually curious, extremely focused and has an enquiring mind. She is very creative but manages to be practical and pragmatic in her approach to her work. Her intellectual prowess is matched by an oft-demonstrated capacity for hard work. I therefore have no hesitation in recommending her for employment. She has the ability to make an excellent contribution to the planning profession. RE: Janine Loubser
I am an urban designer in the City’s Spatial Planning and Urban Design Department and was responsible for mentoring Janine Loubser during a period of vacation work from December 2011 to February 2012.
During this time Janine made an impression on the department as an intelligent and hard-working person with a calm and pleasant nature. Her contribution to the work programme of the office was remarkable, not only in terms of the quality of the work she produced, but also because of her enthusiasm and willingness to assist. She proved herself able to undertake a wide range of tasks and in all of these she displayed a quick grasp of what was required and performed all duties with skill and efficiency.
Janine is clearly someone that can be relied upon in a professional sense and I can highly recommend her.
