DEVELOP NEXT GENERATION DATACENTRE Three separate, large scale, “green” datacentres, integrated through power and connecKvity Capable of hosKng G‐Cloud, financial services and all our current and  future requirements uKlising the unique advantages of the Sheffield  City Region, including land availability, under‐uKlised power infrastructure, a local fibre network and climate.

E.ON announces construction plans for biomass energy plant in Sheffield

E.ON has today unveiled further details and images of its biomass-fired renewable energy plant, which will begin construction at the end of November, at Blackburn Meadows near Sheffield.

The £120m renewable energy plant will be set near the site of the old Tinsley Towers, adjacent to Meadowhall, and when operational will generate up to 30MW, enough to power 40,000 homes, by converting recycled waste wood into electricity.

e.on press release 14 November 2011 Nick Clegg officially opens Sheffield Solar Farm A new solar farm has been officially opened in Sheffield by Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg.

It's one of dozens of renewable energy projects springing up around South Yorkshire.

Solar panels, wind turbines, even water power are making an appearance as individuals and organisations try to save money and save the planet.

Sheffield Solar Farm is an array of 70m² photovoltaic panels on the roof of the University of Sheffield's Hicks Building on Hounsfield Road.

Energy minister approves Drax biomass plans Two biomass power stations which would meet the needs of more than one million homes have gained government approval.

Power producer Drax wants to build the plants at its site in Selby, North Yorkshire, and at South Killingholme, near Immingham, North Lincolnshire.

Humber Gateway wind farm gets government approval Plans for one of the UK's largest offshore wind farms off the Yorkshire coast have been given the go-ahead by the government.

The Humber Gateway wind farm will generate enough electricity to power 150,000 homes a year.
