This year we had 5 clubs compete it our

County Club Awards event. Each club

gave a fantastic presentation, giving a

overview of what the 2018/2019 year

looked like for their club. You could tell

all of the clubs put a lot of time and effort

into practicing and polishing their presen-

tations. Awards were given as follows:

1st Canby 4-H

2nd New Pioneer 4-H

3rd Tie Surprise Valley and Bieber 4-H

Many thanks to all the club leaders, par-

ents and volunteers who helped our youth

with there presentations. I hope we see

many more clubs participate in this event

next year.

Check out our exciting news! Cody Sphar, Jacob Worch, Allan Viehdorfer and Jacob Worch are now our 3rd group to be chosen by CA 4-H to rep-resent our state at the Grand Island National Shooting Sports competition in 2020. They will be joined by 3 other counties from CA for this competition. The disciplines this team will be competing in are: Shotgun, Archery, Rifle and our Modoc boys will round off the team with Muzzle Loader. It will be a year full of fund-raising and practice for this crew. Congratulations to this group of young men.

We are glad that we are able to start a new year. Our officers are Leilany Barba –President and Secretary, Maddie Babcock Vice president and Treasurer, Jocelyn Barba - Healthy leaving and I am the Reporter and Historian. Our leaders are Katrina Babcock and Karina Rodriguez. We are grateful to our project leaders and excit-ed to offer the following projects: Katrina Babcock - Leadership Development, Record Book Keeping, Community Service & Pride, Arts & Crafts, and Cooking, Karina Rodriguez - Gardening, Scrapbooking, Photography, Swine, and co-leading Arts & cross clubbing with Providence 4-H on some projects. Ben Babcock is the Beef and Woodworking Leader. Bieber 4-H is meeting the 1st Monday of the month in the Big Valley Library at 7:00 pm. We had an excellent year at Intermountain Fair, our members showed beef & swine as well as entries in scrapbooking, photography, vegetables, etc. Our club won 1st for the feature booth. The Jr. Livestock Auction was amazingly supported by community families and businesses. Our whole club would like to extend our THANK YOU’S & APPRECIATION for this overwhelming support. We made some posters to outreach new members after the October meeting. Currently we are planning achievement and awards night for

November, we are planning this meeting with the Providence 4-H group. Arts & Crafts, Scrapbooking, and Photograph, Cooking, Wood leaders and members are work-ing together now to participate in the 8th grade bazaar on Sunday, December 8. We also will have our yummy fundraising bags of Mandarins. Don’t miss these deals! If you would like some please contact a member or leader and we will get you on a list as we would like to pre-

sale as many as possible to ensure freshness and enjoyment. ~

Grange Co-op/Rogue Co-op Scholarship

Grange Co-op will award eight $1,500 scholarships to high school seniors. The Rogue Co-ops will award one

$2,000 scholarship to a high school senior. Rogue Co-ops is a coalition of Southern Oregon cooperatives in-cluding Rogue Credit Union, Medford Food Co-op, Ashland Food Co-op, and Grange Co-op.

To qualify for either scholarship, students must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher and have participated, during the academic school year, in at least one of these activities: FFA, 4-H, Horticulture, DECA, FBLA, student body

leadership, school sports, or non-related activities such as work experience. In addition, students must reside in Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake, Curry, Coos, Douglas counties in Oregon, or Siskiyou, Del Norte, Modoc, Humboldt, Yuba, Sutter, Colusa or Butte counties in California. The application window is November 1st to

January 31st annually.

4-H Mule Tales Newsletter

The Mule Tales newsletter provides your family with im-portant information about the 4-H Youth Development Program. Each bimonthly issue provides information about meetings, events, activities and due dates. We mail one copy to each 4-H family who has one or more member enrolled in 4-H. Please share your newsletter with others in your home. We encourage clubs and individuals to submit articles and photos. All information must be received in the 4-H Office by the 3rd Monday of each month.
