The Four Keys of Faith FormationThe Four Keys are provided to help you nourish your child’s/grandchild’s faith.Scripture Readings for the Second Weekend after the Epiphany:1 Samuel 3:1-10; Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18; 1 Corinthians 6:12-20; John 1:43-51Family Devotions: Psalm 139:13-16 tells how each of us was specially and uniquely created by God and of his intimate love and concern for each of us. Read these verses in your home devotional times this week:You created the deepest parts of my being. You put me together inside my mother’s body. How you made me is amazingand wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well. Now on my bones washidden from you when you made me inside my mother’s body. That place was as dark as the deepest parts of the earth. When you were putting me together there, your eyes saw my body even before it was formed. You planned how manydays I would live. You wrote down the number of them in your book before I had lived through even one of them.Share stories of where and when you were born; share with your child the story of his or her birth. If possible, look at baby pictures of household members. Say prayers of thanks for each other.

Caring Conversation: Philip looked for Nathanael and brought him to Jesus. Read the lesson from John and talkabout what happened next. Is there someone you know that you might invite to church?

Family Service: As Lutherans, we believe that we respond to what we have heard through the Good News of thelife, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ – given for you for the forgiveness of sins. Good works (good fruit) happens, and we do not even know about it. As parents, you can “create” opportunities for your kids to learn aboutservice, with the understanding that service is not a “have-to” but rather a “get-to” – a “response-to.” Having heardthe Gospel preached, we move beyond ourselves, caring for our neighbor. Think about the Scripture verses for the week and the conversations you have shared. God has gifted you and your children with abilities, personalities, and certain qualities. As a parent, family member, or friend, you can help them discover their uniquegifts by encouraging them in the things that they do well and feel passionate that they can serve others.

Family Traditions and Rituals: Make up a “Fun Box” that can help you become more intentional about spendingquality time together. The Fun Box will contain slips of paper listing activity ideas for the household. Working together as a household, make up a list of fun, inexpensive activities you can do together; and write each one down on a different slip of paper (e.g., going for a walk, playing a game, singing favorite songs, making biscuits, reading a favorite book together). When you feel the need for some “together time,” have a household memberdraw out a slip of paper and then work on making the activity happen! TEXT Your Offering!

The muggers are people who deliver a welcome gift (a HC Coffee Mug)to those who are visiting Holy Cross for the first time.

Here's how it works: a list is generated by the office, you are given the names & addresses of those who are being "mugged,"

and you deliver to their home that week.It is a simple but powerful way to extend a welcome to those who have visited. The hope is to have enough volunteers that you will be asked to serve only once every 2 months.
