HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JUNE 22 The Jammu and Kashmir Government has evacuated about 1,56,466 JK resi- dents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures. As per the official data re- ceived in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir ad- ministration has received 61 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway sta- tions from different states and UTs, so far, with about 49,151 passengers while about 1,07,315 persons from other states and UTs including 328 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date. Therefore, a total of about 1,56,466 J&K resi- dents stranded outside have been brought back to the UT by the Jammu and Kashmir government by 61 special trains and a fleet of buses through Lakhanpur after strictly observing all necessary preventive mea- sures regarding the Virus. As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 1114 stranded pas- sengers have entered through Lakhanpur from June 21 to June 22 morn- ings while 818 passengers have reached today in the 40th Delhi COVID special train at Jammu. So far, 40 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 33,455 stranded passen- gers belonging to different districts while 15,696 pas- sengers have reached Ud- hampur in 21 special trains, so far. 3 THE HIMALAYAN MAIL JAMMU TUESDAY JUNE 23, 2020 JAMMU & KASHMIR SRINAGAR, 22 JUNE: Congratulating the officers and Jawans of SOG Srina- gar of J&K Police and CRPF valley QAT for conducting a clean and successful opera- tion in a very congested and densely populated area Zadibal Srinagar yesterday, the Director General of Po- lice J&K Shri Dilbag Singh lauded the synergy and un- derstanding between the forces in Jammu and Kash- mir. DGP also visits Kulgam district where he chairs of- ficers meeting to review se- curity scenarios and law & order situations. He was interacting with the officers and jawans of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF at Police Golf Course Srinagar who partic- ipated and successfully neu- tralized three terrorists who were involved in the attack of BSF party in Pandach area of Hazratbal on 20.05.2020 in which two BSF Jawans attained mar- tyrdom and terrorists man- aged to decamp with the service weapons of the BSF Jawans. The terrorists in- volved were successfully eliminated and the weapon of the martyr BSF jawans was recovered from their possession in the encounter yesterday. The interaction was at- tended by the IGP CRPF Sector Srinagar Shri Pramod Kumar Pandey, IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Ku- mar, DIG CRPF South Shri Doop Singh Maan, DIG CRPF North Shri Davinder Jeet Singh, SSP Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughul, SP PC (Cargo) Shri Tahir Ashraf, SP Hazratbal Shri Sudan- shu Pandey, SP East Ms Seema Nabi and Srinagar based Commandants of CRPF. During the interaction the DGP congratulated the offi- cers and Jawans of Police and CRPF for conducting a clean and successful opera- tion in a very congested and densely populated area of Zadibal Srinagar with no collateral damage. He ap- preciated the synergy, pro- fessionalism, alertness and patience displayed by the Police Component Srinagar (Cargo) and CRPF Valley QAT during various opera- tions conducted and also for pro-active approach of se- curity forces during evacu- ation of civilians and ensur- ing in minimizing the damage associated with the operation. He said that the synergy and understanding between the different forces espe- cially Police and CRPF have yielded good results a num- ber of times and added that in future too the success will be ours. He said that the handling of law & order during the operation and post operation is praisewor- thy and commended the of- ficers of Police and CRPF for that. The DGP said that during operation restraining emo- tions and actions is very challenging but the forces on ground in Jammu & Kashmir have shown exem- plary control on their ac- tions many times in the past. He said that in this op- eration too, the officers have taken every chance to make the terrorist surrender. He said that repeated appeals were made by the Police, family members and com- munity members to the ter- rorists to surrender and shun the path of violence. The DGP said that our commitment is to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the people of J&K, and added that youth of Jammu and Kashmir lured by the Pak- istan sponsored terror out- fits and their supporters have always been given an opportunity to shun the path of violence and live a peaceful life with their loved ones. The DGP exhorted upon the officers and Jawans to be extra vigilant and careful as the elements inimical to peace and the terrorist han- dlers across the border are anxious to disturb the peace and order in the Union Ter- ritory. He stressed on the necessity to keep Srinagar city free from the terrorism and also emphasized to work on the networks asso- ciated with terror modules operating in other regions of Kashmir having linkages to Srinagar. The DGP announced and distributed rewards among the jawans of J&K Police and CRPF valley QAT for their exemplary perfor- mance and professionalism. He further emphasized and instructed the men and of- ficers to adhere to SOPs is- sued from time to time, while handling law and or- der and on countering ter- rorism. DGP compliments SOG officers, jawans for successful operation at Zadibal HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, JUNE 22 Former MLC and Na- tional Conference State Sec- retary Mr Rattan Lal Gupta today sought regularization of the daily rated, casual and need based workers be- sides other employees working on contractual or adhoc basis in various de- partments in Jammu and Kashmir, saying this has jeopardised career of thou- sands of youth. “It is time for the Admin- istration to deliver justice to the youth and their families which have been subjected their families to lot many sufferings”, Mr Gupta said in a statement, adding that every segment of workers engaged on daily rate basis and employees on the ad- hoc arrangement in acade- mic in higher education are craving for justice for decades now. Mr Gupta expressed con- cern and anguish over the careers of thousands getting jeopradised with many of them having put in 15 to 20 years and having suffered a lot. He said the workers and Lecturers/demonstrators working on academic arrangement basis in vari- ous Government Polytech- nics in Technical Education Department for the past 20 years, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Technical Trained Workers under SLRM, Academic Arrange- ment, Need Based ITI, Non ITI Workers Union and oth- ers have been knocking every door for justice but the administration is show- ing sadistic apathy to their plight. Many lecturers and demonstrators working on academic arrangement have highest qualifications in respective fields but were still suffering due to admin- istrative inaction, he added. Mr Gupta questioned the logic in lingering on the is- sue of regularization despite a policy decision taken in this regard by the National Conference government seven years ago, and sought this to be implemented on humanitarian grounds. He said the families of all these categories of workers have virtually come on the roads due to delay in salaries and arrears pending for years. Prof. Singh had joined (on Deputation) in the Department of MCNM, CUJ in the year 2016 and became Head of the Depart- ment. Under his tenure as Head, the Department of MCNM had taken long strides in the field of academics, research work, research projects, in giving practical exposure to the students about journal- ism industry and field stud- ies. Due to his excellent or- ganizational skills, Prof. Govind Singh was given several important academic duties such as making him Dean of Schools besides other responsibilities. Given his calm and cool na- ture he was much beloved among students as well as faculty members. In view of his academic excellence and his contribu- tion to the growth of the de- partment, the administra- tion of Central University had appointed him as per- manent Professor in the de- partment in December 2019. But after only seven months of permanent regu- larization as professor, Prof. Govind Singh decided to leave the University. The meeting was at- tended by Deputy Director Planning, Chief Planning Officer, Jammu, besides ex- ecutive engineers of execut- ing agencies while Deputy Commissioners, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch along with concerned offi- cers attended the meeting through video conferenc- ing. The Deputy Commission- ers apprised the Div Com about the progress of works on under construction indi- vidual and community bunkers in their respective districts. It was informed that work is in progress on bunkers in the districts. It was informed that a to- tal of 6919 bunkers have been completed so far in the division, including 6123 in- dividual bunkers and 796 community bunkers. It was also informed that 9905 bunkers are under execu- tion and are at different stages of construction. It was informed that 1430 bunkers including commu- nity and individual bunkers have been completed in dis- trict samba, 1058 in district Jammu, 1324 in district Kathua, 2316 in district Ra- jouri and 791 in district Poonch. They further in- formed that remaining bunkers are also under dif- ferent stages of construc- tion. The concerned officers informed about the number of bunkers at foundation level, superstructure level, and slab level. The Div Com directed the DCs to monitor the con- struction of bunkers and also directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work and adhere to the fixed timelines for com- pletion of construction of individual and community bunkers. He also asked the DCs to set weekly, monthly targets for completion of work on bunkers and share completion plans. Divisional Commis-sioner, Sanjeev Verma to-day chaired a meeting ofDeputy Commissioners ofborder districts to reviewthe progress on construc-tion of individual and com-munity bunkers along theborder in Jammu division.

The meeting was at-tended by Deputy DirectorPlanning, Chief PlanningOfficer, Jammu, besides ex-ecutive engineers of execut-ing agencies while DeputyCommissioners, Kathua,Samba, Rajouri, Poonchalong with concerned offi-cers attended the meetingthrough video conferenc-ing.

The Deputy Commission-ers apprised the Div Comabout the progress of workson under construction indi-vidual and communitybunkers in their respectivedistricts. It was informedthat work is in progress on

bunkers in the districts.It was informed that a to-

tal of 6919 bunkers havebeen completed so far in thedivision, including 6123 in-dividual bunkers and 796community bunkers. It wasalso informed that 9905bunkers are under execu-tion and are at differentstages of construction.

It was informed that 1430bunkers including commu-nity and individual bunkers

have been completed in dis-trict samba, 1058 in districtJammu, 1324 in districtKathua, 2316 in district Ra-jouri and 791 in districtPoonch. They further in-formed that remainingbunkers are also under dif-ferent stages of construc-tion. The concerned officersinformed about the numberof bunkers at foundationlevel, superstructure level,and slab level.

The Div Com directed theDCs to monitor the con-struction of bunkers andalso directed the executingagencies to expedite thepace of work and adhere tothe fixed timelines for com-pletion of construction ofindividual and communitybunkers. He also asked theDCs to set weekly, monthlytargets for completion ofwork on bunkers and sharecompletion plans.
