Solina Srinagar, Kashmir- 190008 Subject: Select List for the posts of Assistant Professor (Political Science) in Higher Education Department Notification No. 29 – PSC (DR-S) of 2017 Dated: 12.06.2017 Whereas, the Higher Education Department referred 90 posts (OM: 49, RBA: 17, SC: 08, ST: 10, ALC: 04 & SLC:02) of Assistant Professor in the dis- cipline of Political Science to the Public Service Commission for being filled up from amongst the suitable candidates; and whereas, the Commission notified these posts vide Notification No. 12- PSC(DR-P) of 2014 dated: 29.05.2014; and whereas, in response to the above notification, 350 candidates had applied and out of whom 275 eligible candidates were shortlisted and called for interview in pursuance of rules; and whereas, the interview of the eligible candidates was held from 25.02.2017 to 28.02.2017 at Jammu with the assistance of Experts from outside the state; and whereas, the result could not be finalized immediately after conclusion of the selection process as the Hon’ble High Court had directed against finaliza- tion of selection process in SWP No.412/2017, MP No.01/2017 titled Ekta Manhas & Others Vs State & Others vide order dated: 23.02.2017. The Hon’ble Court has now modified the interim directions and directed the Commission to finalize the selection process vide order dated:22.05.2017. Now, therefore, on the basis of performance in the interview coupled with the weight-age in respect of academic merit, experience and other related parameters, the Merit of the candidates who appeared in the interview, is enclosed as “Annexure-A” to this Notification. Consequent upon the above, the Select List of the candidates against the available posts is given in “Annexure-B” to this Notice. Note:- 1. The Commission reserves the right to have certificate/documents of the candidates verified, if it is at any stage found expedient to do so. 2. The selection in respect of 08 posts under OM Category figuring at SNo 42 to 49, 02 posts under ST Category figuring at S.No. 09 & 10 and 01 post under SC Category figuring at S.No. 08 shall be kept withheld/ reserved and shall not be communicated to the concerned Department in view of directions of the Hon’ble High Court in SWP No.412/2017, MP No.01/2017 titled Ekta Manhas & Ors Vs State, SWP No.1381/2016, MP No.01/2016 titled Mushtaq Ahmad Mir & anr Vs State & Ors and SWP No.183/2017, MP No.01/2017 titled Abdul Hameed Shah Vs State & Ors. 3. Further the selection against 01 post each under OM and RBA category has been kept withheld in view of the Court directions in other writ petitions. 4. 03 posts under ALC category remained vacant due to non-availability of candidates. 5. The Select List is purely provisional and is subject to the outcome of writ petitions pending before any competent Court of law.
