He earned his Arrow of Light in 2001 and joined Troop 174 with Scoutmaster Nick Civitillo and Assistant Scoutmasters George Fogle and Hal Collins. James is forever grateful for the guidance he received from all the scout leadership. In 2004, James was the proud recipient of the Kevin Hanley Award for Scouting Spirit. James' favorite memories of scouting are from his summers at Camp Workcoeman as a scout and later as a CIT. At Workcoeman, James earned his Mile Swim and Scuba designations as well as his certification for BSA Lifeguard. James and his family are grateful to Camp Director Lou Seiser, Scoutmaster Joe Vita, Miss Linda and the dining staff and Camp Nurses Wanda McKeon, Holly Galliher and Terri LeDuc for their understanding which allowed James to enjoy the full camp experience. James would also like to thank his parents and his little sister Margot for their support. To his dad for his endless leaf-raking and carpentry "Hmm James, I'm not sure about the angle on that picnic bench-is it tilting or is it me?" To his mom, "I want the Eagle mother's pin James." (Ok she was supportive other times). To Margot, his sister who has been attending scout meetings since her infancy, "James why are these Pack meetings so loud? I can't sleep!" To ALL of you, who gave me your words of encouragement, please know it made a difference-Thank you!
