between James Reed of the County of Fayette and State of Tennessee of the one part

and Thomas Washington of Nashville of the other part witnesseth that the said James

Reed has this day executed his note under seal to the said Thomas Washington for

the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars payable in the third Monday in September next

now in order to secure the payment of said note the said James Reed doth by these

presents give grant and convey the said Thomas Washington his heirs etc. one

hundred acres of land to be laid off in a square in the northeast corner of a tract of 1097

acres Granted to the heirs of John Long and their heirs by Grant bearing date 28th

August 1822, No. of Grant 17922 Situated in Fayette County Tennessee, it being the

tract this day decreed by the Chancery Circuit at Jackson to the said James Reed

which hundred acres aforesaid is to join Hugh Lucky now if the said James Reed Shall

will and truly pay said Note then this mortgage to be void Otherwise to remain in full

force. Witness my hand & seal the day and year above written.
