“The action was well-co-ordinated with the children obviously well--rehearsed and enjoying and participating happily. The music written specially was engaging and singable. The school obviously valued the experience and the Head was warm in her appreciation of living history being experienced by the children.”

“Really good link to History (we are studying WW2) and also historical change and the reasons for it (great for historical enquiry skills).” “I thought it was very engaging. Visual elements, group work, questions, freeze frames.” “Perhaps you could have a ‘shaker’ which is the noise to call for silent listening.” “Thought it was great as it had competitive aspect to encourage team work. Also the active parts helped to refocus between listening and group tasks.”

Heritage Horticulture Workshop: Sowing Seeds

12 April 2014 – 11 evaluation forms from 12 participants

Participants appreciated “developing skills and knowledge in sowing techniques”, “practical seed planting”, “facilitator’s attention to details”, “science of composting, propagation and demonstrations of planting”, “increased knowledge about Alisa Craig tomatoes”, “local market garden history”, “more understanding of why I might fail”. Areas for improvement were “signposting for the site” and “sending details by email before the event”. “Examples of tools”, “info about market gardeners”, “old references of produce, layout of market gardens old sites”.
