THE “JAM SESSION” PROJECT

Pintar las sensaciones que te da la música cuando escuchas un tema, presencias un concier-to, ves a los músicos a veces iconos, autenticas estrellas y otras veces, la mayoría, músicosanónimos que sin embargo se dejan la piel para y por la música, es extremadamente dificil. Yla forma más sincera que he encontrado para expresar estas sensaciones es representar figu-rativamente todo lo que rodea a la difícil vida de los músicos profesionales. Esto es lo que pre-tendo con esta recopilación.

Painting the feelings that music gives you when you hear a theme, when you attend a concertor just when you see musicians -sometimes icons, real stars, and sometimes, most of the timeanonymous stars that give everything for the music- is extremely difficult. And the most honestway I've found to express these feelings is to represent everything that surrounds the hard lifeof professional musicians. This is what I intend with this project.

Chema Senra es licenciado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Granada, España.

Ha trabajado como ilustrador para distintas revistas andaluzas, como Radio Ethiopía y Acoge.

Como pintor, se inclina más hacía la abstracción y el expresionismo, pero no tiene reparo en abordar

un modelo más clasico a la hora de expresar el campo de la música y del desnudo.

JamSession es un ejemplo de representación figurativa que paradójicamente habla de sensaciones

abstractas. Las producidas por el sonido de la música en directo y el ambiente que lo rodea, escena-

rios, camerinos, los propios instrumentos musicales, en ocasiones verdaderos protagonistas dotados de

vida.

Así, como en una Jam Session, también en este catálogo se encuentran músicos, colores, impresiones

distintas pero, sin embargo, con una propia afinidad temperamental, fruto de la atenta investigación,

no sólo cromatica sino también empirica y musical, que este pintor hace a la hora de crear.

Chema Senra is graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, Spain.

He has worked as illustrator for various magazines in Andalusia, such as Radio Ethiopía and Acoge.

As a painter, is more inclined towards abstraction and expressionism, but has no objection to a more

classical approach when expressing figurative topics.

JamSession is an example of it.

The sound produced by the live music and the surrounding environment, the scenery, the dressing

rooms, the musical instruments is the main source of the sensations of these paintings.

Thus, as in a Jam Session, in this catalog you can find musicians, colors, different views with aproper

temperamental affinity. Each piece is the result of a careful research, not only empirically but also chro-

matic and musical that this artist makes when he creates.
