Unsworth has walked just 54 batters in 397 professional innings coming into tonight. Versus Tennessee: The Generals and the Smokies are tied at 2-2 in this 15-game season series... Friday’s game is the final scheduled contest between these teams at The Ballpark at Jackson this season...The Generals play in Kodak, Tenn. in May and August...The Smokies won nine of the 14 games between these clubs last year...Tony Zych, who pitches for Jackson now, was 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in four appearances for Tennessee in last year’s season series. He gave up three runs on four hits in an inning pitched on Wednesday. It’s-A Me, Dario: Dario Pizzano has led Jackson offensively over its recent games. Pizzano went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and his first home run of the season on Wednesday. That was just the second three-hit game for a Gen- eral this year after D.J. Peterson went 3-for-6 on April 17 against the Mississippi Braves. After a sixth-inning single on Thursday, Pizzano holds a team-best six-game hit streak, batting .375 (9-for-24) in that stretch. Walk On The Wild Side: Generals pitchers have been uncharacteristically wild in their last two out- ings. Jackson has yielded season highs in walks in back-to-back games, issuing eight free passes on Wednesday and 12 more in Thursday’s contest. The staff had issued only 23 walks in the team’s first 11 games of the season - the best in the Southern League at that time - but Jackson has now dropped back to fifth with 43 total bases on balls. Is It Monday Yet?: Jackson does not have any weekend victories this season, going 0-5 overall from Friday through Sunday with multiple losses already on Friday and Saturday. However, the Generals have opened weeks well with perfect marks of 1-0 on Mondays and Tuesdays and an overall record of 4-3 from Monday through Thursday. Don’t Call it a Comeback: The first two games of this series were decided by late Generals rallies. Tennessee led Monday’s opener 1-0 before Jackson answered with seven runs over its final two at bats. On Tues- day, the Generals erased a 3-1 deficit with a two-run seventh inning before taking the lead in the eighth with Dan Paolini’s decisive two-run double. Up to Speed: With four stolen bases on Thursday, the Generals have matched the Mississippi Braves as the circuit’s co-leaders in steals. Both teams have 15 stolen bases apiece entering Friday’s action. Most of Jackson’s steal have come in this divisional series with Tennessee, posting nine thefts over the their last four games. Individ- ually, infielder Jack Reinheimer shares third place in the league with four stolen bases. Offensive Firepower: The 2015 Generals figure to feature a powerful offense, as all five of the top-30 Seattle prospects according to Baseball America on the Opening Day squad are hitters: D.J. Peterson (2), Gabriel Guerrero (7), Jordy Lara (15), Jack Reinheimer (17) and Julio Morban (25). Eight players hit 10 or more home runs last year, including four that surpassed 15: Gabriel Guerrero (18), Jordy Lara (26), Jabari Henry (30) and D.J. Peterson (31). Guerrero and Lara were two of just seven minor league players to hit .300 with 90 runs scored, 45 extra-base hits and 90 runs batted in, while Peterson was one of five to hit 30 home runs while driving in more than 100.
