PRESIDENT'SREPORTHi Everyone,

As we are away for 3 months I have put our cars into adeep winter sleep, all covered, full petrol tanks, tricklecharge to the batteries and a dose of “Sta-bil” in the fuelto hopefully stop it from going off. I will let you knowwhen I get back if it works.

One of my missions on this trip is to find another ECUthat I can have re conditioned as I am still havingproblems with my car and this might solve my problems. For those of you who have the early EFI systems Isuggest you try and find a back up ECU as they aregetting hard to find. Thank heavens for Kevin at TudorMotors who just happened to have one sitting on hisshelf.

We have been in the UK for just on a week now andMorgan spotting has been a waste of time although Imust say in the village we have spotted two old ACsports, one in rather poor condition and thismagnificently restored one. I don’t know a lot about

these cars but they do have attractive lines.

Before leaving Australia I managed to corner 4 of ourmembers who quietly slipped into Melbourne withoutnotice from across the border. I held them to ransomand advised them the only way out was a meal at BistroThierry’s. Once again Thierry was incredibly generouswhen it came to trying his various brandys and cognacs.Funny thing happens when I leave Thierry’s, therealways seems to be a purple haze, must be somethingin the air.

Come back John and Pam, come back Chris and Deb.All is forgiven VicMog.

Thierry, Bill, Kate, Pam, Chis, Debra and John at Thierry's Bistro

Good news to all of us who have lived the trials andtribulations that Thierry Cornavin has been through withthe electrics on his car, One dodgy ECU, one dodgyrebuild, one reconditioned ECU and he is on the roadagain. Several auto elec’s will be disappointed at nothaving his car in their garage anymore. You are a trueMorganeer Thierry, throw enough money at it andsooner or later someone will make it right.

One of our enjoyments when in the UK is visiting oldchurches. Bunbury in Cheshire has a magnificentchurch, St Boniface, a place of worship has been on thissite since the eighth century and the current church hasbeen there since mid-fourteen hundreds. One interesting statue in the Church is of a JaneJohnson who it seems was a particularly well endowedwoman.

The inscription below tells of her story or should I say

one Vicar's response to her statue:I am sure at this stage both Brian and David have beenkeeping you advised of our forthcoming 50thAnniversary Celebration. I received an email from one ofour associated members of MOCA who was inquiringabout joining us for our celebrations, it seems that thereare about 25 who would like to join us. Well doneMOCA.

Cheers,

Bill Emerson

SOCIALSECRETARY'SREPORTNot exactly top down weather just now but there hasbeen a bit of Morgan activity over the past few weeks. On Sunday 28th May I took advantage of the freeadmission tickets and ventured up the Hume Freewayto Winton to view The Historics. I did see one or twoMorgans in the car park and a very eclectic range ofclassic cars and bikes on the track. The viewing becamequite exciting as the rain fell mid afternoon! On Friday night 16th June Heather and Pete Ffrenchgenerously hosted our VICMOG June Club Meeting atThe Elfin Heritage Centre. Lots of motor sport historyhere paying homage to the brilliant Adelaide based racecar designer and constructor, Garrie Cooper. Theattendance was excellent and we also managed tocelebrate Pete’s special birthday. At an unhealthy hour the following morning Brian Hardy

and I attended a seminar put together by theAssociation Of Motoring Clubs Inc. (AOMC) , a voluntarygroup who represent around 200 member clubsnationally including VICMOG. The agenda included arange of topics involving laws impacting on motoringclubs, streamlining club management, club newsletterproduction, use of social media, and managing clubmembership data bases. There was a lot of usefulcontent and I did learn why some people are able tospend so much time looking at their mobile phones.AOMC offer free access to some excellent data basesoftware which we will put before the VICMOGCommittee. A very useful presentation.

Before I forget, we’ve come across a venue onMelbourne’s gourmet scene known as “Bistro Morgan”.(www.bistromorgan.com.au). If your culinary horizonextends no further than coffee and a donut you’ll lovethis new venue in Windsor. Parking limited. With Christmas In July just days away we may still beable to find space for a few late comers. If you haven'tyet committed there may still be time. Don't miss out ona great weekend of fun in the country.

JUNE MEETING REPORT

As a concept, it did not sound all that promising. Like letshold our June meeting on a dark cold Friday night in afactory in an Industrial estate in Moorabbin. You would notwant to bet you would be getting a crowd to that.

But that would be overlooking the magic ingredients. Whatif Pete and Heather ffrench were hosting the event, What ifthe factory contained the Elfin Heritage Collection andwhat if Pete got a couple of heaters going. Well we had allthree magic ingredients going for us and we had a fantasticturn out.

To give you an idea of the event's pulling power we evenhad the Macwhirters attend, just between returning fromJapan and just before they shipped out to Alaska.

Pete gave us a tour of the amazing collection. My favourite

was Garrie Cooper’s very first racing car, a little Austin 7special.

It turned out that Pete had just had an 0 birthday. I don’tknow which one but someone suggested it was his 50th.Anyhow, a cake was produced which he proceeded to cutwith a two handled Pizza cutter. (No I am not sure why. Itcould be a ffrench family tradition!)

It was a great night and it was good to see a number of ouryounger members there. I am sure the average age wasmuch reduced from our normal events.

Big thanks are due to Heather and Pete for hosting thisevent and Pete we are sorry nobody sat in any of the chairsyou put out. There was just too much too look at.

Mary, Laurette, Dawn & Catherine

Happy Birthday Pete

THE TALE OF A "MODEL" MORGANRon Bayley

Back in January this year I had a call to put the Morgan infor a photo shoot promotion in Carlton Gardens for anapartment complex in Melbourne. This then led to therecent TV promotion for the Hidden Valley Retirement &resort complex being built just outside of Wallan, Victoria.

I had to be in Wallan the day before and stay overnight asthe production started at 6am! It was now this time of 6am

that I realized I should havecovered the Morgan, it wasdripping wet from theovernight condensation (yesPhil Mc W. the Morgan gotwet) and the drive to HiddenValley in the dark with a carfogged up was quiteinteresting!

The production started withgetting the car dry andshowing the chap who was tobe the model and driver whatnot to touch, his poorpassenger had to have 2 hotwater bottles and a blanket tokeep her warm.

The production finallyfinished about 7pm, with

countless re takes, with various locations within the HiddenValley area. All in all, about 20 people were involved in aninteresting day, although on my part there was a lot of justsitting around.

The promotion is being shown on TV, seems to be onChannel 7 from the few times I have caught it. There are tobe more follow up advertisements with the Morgan, butonly briefly from what I hear. ( I will try to put a copy ofthe TV ad on our website. check in a couple of days -Ed)

Maybe an Oscar nomination will be forthcoming, I’ll nothold my breath.

MORGAN MISCELLANY

Morgan Buys back the Farm(or in this case the Factory)

If you follow the goings on at the Morgan Motor Company, you will no doubt remember back in 2006 they sold the landon which the factory stood on a sale and lease backarrangement to raise funds for the Aero development.

Well after what they claim as a record trading year in 2016,Morgan have repurchased their main Pickersleigh Road siteand for good measure they also bought the adjorning MorganVisitors' Centre (top left in the photo) which is now handlingover 30,000 visitors a year.

At 20 Pounds per adult, their visitors' centre is not a bad littleearner

MYMORGAN

Here is a picture of my Plus 4 under some 150year old Elm trees on my property, FreshwaterPoint Homestead, in the Tamar Valley,Launceston, Tasmania.

I took delivery of my Morgan in February 2015,having made the pilgrimage to PickersleighRoad in October 2014, when my car was in thetrim shop.

I think Tasmania is perfect Morgan country withmiles of quiet winding hilly B and C roadsthrough stunning coastal and country scenery. The Plus 4 has just completed 8000 trouble freekilometres. When not in Tasmania, the Morganspends time on the Mornington Peninsula.

JUNE MONTHLY LUNCH RUN TOTHE NOOJEE HOTEL

Our initial rendezvous spot for our June lunch run wasthe BP Servo at Officer. It must be my advancing yearsbut I remembered Officer being further out of town than itactually is and so arrived around a half an hour too early.Still, the sun was shining feebly and I grabbed a cup ofcoffee and waited for the rest to show up.

It was very cold and by the time our intrepid group had allassembled, it was starting to rain so tops were put upand we headed off. Down the M1, past Gumbuya Park(where the city meets the country if you remember theirancient jingle), we turned off on the C426 and headed offdown some great Morgan roads through some verypretty country.

The sun was occasionally breaking through the rainshowers and the rolling green hills were all shrouded inclouds and it all looked rather beautiful. The warmthfrom the heater was slowly winning the battle with the icybreeze blowing in around the side curtains when ourintrepid Social Secretary called a halt around Neerim. Weall got out, admired the surrounds, and whenhypothermia started kicking in hopped back into ourMorgans and continued on our way.

Our next stop was to admire the magnificent old trestlebridge just outside Noojee. Not wanting to get mud on mycarpet, I wimped and stayed in my Morgan but I shot thisfrom the car.

Finally we arrived at our lunch stop, the Noojee Hotel.

After warming ourselves around the fire we ordered ourlunches and sat down for a very enjoyable meal. Thestaff here are very friendly and the food is good thoughperhaps a little too plentiful. You would never go awayhungry I promise.

All too soon it was over and we hopped in our Morgansfor the run home. The weather really turned to the darkside in the afternoon and I headed home in pouring rain.So in summary was it cold? - yes. Was it wet? - yes. Did Ihave a great time? You bet; Morgans and greatcompany- how could you miss. A big thanks to DavidJenkins for yet another great lunch run
